Ellen: Hey, everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we're going to be taking a quick look at the fairings for your Rhino Rack Pioneer platform roof rack. So a lot of times whenever you're carrying that platform rack from Rhino Racks, the Pioneer allows you to carry all kinds of gear up on the top of your vehicle. It allows for a lot more space. But it can also be kind of a drag, meaning that it can cause some drag from the wind resistance and also can cause kind of a whistling or a howling sound from that platform.So this is going to help to relieve some of those problems or alleviate some of them and make sure that you aren't going to have that uncomfortable of an experience with your platform rack. It helps, again, to reduce the drag.

It makes it a little bit more aerodynamic, allows the wind to go up and over the platform rack and your gear, so you're not going to be encountering as much wind resistance. That should also help with the wind sound as well. It probably won't completely eliminate it, but it should help.So there's three different sizes. It kind of depends on what size rack you have as far as which one will work. The smallest is the 44" fairing that works for the pioneers that are 49" wide.

The one in the middle is 50". That will work for your Pioneer racks that are 54" wide, excuse me. And then there's a 52" fairing that's the biggest one, and that will work for all of your 56" wide platform racks. So choose your size accordingly.This one in particular that I have on my table is the one in the middle. This is the 50" wide.

So the largest one would be a little bigger than this. The smallest would be a little bit smaller. But all of them are going to have the same features. They're going to go together mostly the same. It does come with pretty good instructions on how to get everything put together.

You really only will need this little tool that it comes with to put the hardware together. It comes as just this piece with then some braces on the back. So that's pretty much the majority of the assembly is just putting those in place.The way you do that is by using these little plastic rivets, these little push pin fasteners. So they, as the name suggests, you just push them in and the little barbs on there hold them in place. So pretty easy to put those on. If one happens to get messed up or damaged, you can just cut off the top. Mine did happen to have one extra, so you might have an extra as well. I think these are available as a replacement part. So if something should ever happen, you can replace those out pretty easily.At the bottom of the fairing, it does have a little Santoprene rubber foot to help protect your vehicle, and then it also comes with a little sort of rubbery material to go underneath that. So those two things are going to be in contact with each other rather than the fairing itself rubbing and bumping against the finish on your vehicle. So you just mount this on, clean off an area that's going to be right below this. You'll probably want to put this on after you get everything assembled and you kind of figure out where the fairing is going to be, and then put these under each of those places where it's going to make contact. It should come with plenty. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10, 11, 12. And there's only six spots that you would need for this one. So you should have double what you need to get that in place.It's made out of a durable ABS plastic, so that's going to be UV resistant and pretty impact resistant as well. Rhino Rack is a really trusted name in the industry. They make really nice, rugged stuff. They always test everything really well, so this should be no exception there.
