Rhino-Rack VA-FK2 adapter with hardware included

These adapters let you attach Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero crossbars to Rhino-Rack RLCP legs. The adapters provide a perfect crossbar-to-leg fit with no wobbling or gaps. The kit includes 4 precision-molded nylon adapters and all hardware necessary for installation.

Rhino-Rack VA-FK2 adapters for RLCP legs

The adapters provide the perfect mounting surface for Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero crossbars. Without the adapters, the grooves on top of the RLCP legs don't match those on the crossbars, resulting in an imperfect fit with a noticeable gap. With the adapters installed, the crossbars fit on the RLCP legs with no gap or wiggle room.

Rhino-Rack VA-FK2 adapter slide-in installation

To install the adapters, slide an adapter block into the groove on top of each RLCP leg. Thread the 10-mm bolt through the square washer, leg, and adapter. Then thread the M6 nut onto the end of the bolt. Leave enough space between the M6 nut and the top of the adapter so that you can slide the M6 nut into the crossbar's bottom channel. Once the legs are positioned properly in the channel, simply tighten down each 10-mm bolt for a sturdy, wobble-free mount.

I love my Rhino Vortex roof racks. They look great, are sturdy, and there is no wind noise up to 70 mph (haven't been on the freeway yet). eTrailer was great and made the proper component selection easy.
Now, the -1 star... The instructions provided by Rhino were horrible or non-existent. The cross bar literally had no instructions and I couldn't even find them for my model online. Between being a handy guy and watching other Rhino videos on YouTube, I figure it out. Maybe most people have professional installers put them on.

Love the Rhino rack! Sometimes I think I could stand the truck Grand Cherokee upside down on it! It was a little tricky to install, but once I found YouTube vids I was good to go.

Etrailer made the entire process of choosing a rack for my Jeep simple. I was provided with all the necessary info to track the status of the delivery which was important since I needed the product by a certain date. The Product was relatively easy to install and is strong and sturdy. Only minor issue is the wind noise while driving above 55mph.

We'll start with the good. The racks look great once installed and are very durable like I expect from Rhino Rack.

There are a few thing I have noticed with the quality of materials and the design of the roof racks. First off, I have noticed a reduction in the quality of the hardware. Once you get the mounting points secured, which was relatively easily, they ask you to secure the legs with 1 security screw per leg. Not only does the screw not turn more that 2 turns without stopping, the included security hex wrench is small and fails to turn the screws without stripping. I have found since they don't quite fit, I had to WD-40 the screw and the hole, and the use pliers to grab the head of the screw and work it in there. Once you are able to bore the hole out that way, you can back it out quite easily, and the you can use the included wrench to install.

I thought the hardware and Allen wrench device they included with their roof racks several years ago were much higher quality and easier to work with. I also thought paying nearly $400 for these racks would justify high quality materials and tools, but I suppose Rhino Rack is cutting corners as well. The L shaped torx wrench they provide does a poor job of gripping the screw and is nearly worthless, because of the fact that the screws do not fit in the holes without other tools.
Also, a small thing that has been mentioned before on this site, the plastic locking caps are not the highest security measure, but I see you can upgrade to metal end caps for more money. I feel this should be included for this price point.
I believe this may be my last set of Rhino Racks because I just see their quality going the wrong direction.

Fit my RLCP legs to complete my roof rack system with the vortex bars on my 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee

by:

Easy to use and straight forward adapters for the Vortex Aero crossbars.

by:

No problems with the installation. Everything worked as described.
Again thank you for the great Customer Service and concern that I was happy with my purchase.

by:

Nice quiet roof rack. Great value and easy assembly and installation.

by:

The product has been great. It is a little noisy on the freeway and whistles. The bars are very durable and were easy to install.

by:

A BETTER MORE CUSTOM FIT THAN THE DEALER'S VERSION.........BY FAR.......

by:

Good fit kit to take up the slack between the legs and vortex rails but I feel they should come with the legs or rails; not be an extra add on item.

by:

Easy install and still function perfectly a year later!

by:

Great customer service

Easy to use

  • Roof Rack Recommendation for a 2007 Chevy Trailblazer for Carrying Ladders
I would recommend going with the Rhino Rack HD crossbar roof rack as it will have plenty of strength for your ladders. You would need the part numbers # RB1250B-2, # RLTP-2, and # RRVA-FK2-2 which have been confirmed as a fit for your 2007 Chevy Trailblazer raised side rails.. For load stops for the ladders you would then want the part # RRRLH. For 10 foot cinch straps you could also use the part # RTD3. Be sure not to exceed the roof weight capacity of your vehicle.

  • Roof Rack and Cargo Box with Largest Capacity for a 2014 Honda Odyssey

It is also available in black, # TH7503B-TH7504B. Or for a more budget-friendly option I recommend the Inno square bar roof rack # INB137 for the bars and # INFR for the feet. • Recommendation for Transporting 2 Kayaks on 2016 Ford Explorer
I took a look at the online owner's manual for your 2016 Ford Explorer. It does state that for vehicles with the moonroof, there is a 45 pound weight capacity. For vehicles without the moonroof, the load capacity is 100 pounds. • Thule AeroBlade Podium Roof Rack with Longer Bars for 2017 Ford Explorer
It is possible in some cases to substitute longer-than-recommended roof rack crossbars in a roof rack setup.
