Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com and today we're gonna take a look at these Rhino-Rack locking end caps for your Vortex Aero crossbars. These locking end caps are going to let you secure your accessories in the top channel of your Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero crossbars. And these are designed to replace your standard ends on your Vortex Aero cross bars and they're gonna be an easy snap-on installation. These end caps are the same design as the standard end caps that you're replacing but these lock cores are actually metal and they're going to install in the same way. You're just going to slide them into position and once they're pushed into place in the bar then you're just going to go ahead and take one of the two keys that are included and lock them. Lemme go ahead and show that lock in action there on the backside of this.
And then once they're locked, you can then remove the key. And as you can see, there's an indicator there. You might be able to see that. So at a glance you're going to be able to tell if these are locked or not. So we have a closed padlock there at the top, so that's indicating that this is in the locked position.
Then when you turn it counterclockwise then that's going to be the unlocked position and there's a little open to padlock there. So you can see it again at a glance that this is unlocked or locked. So then once you have these locked into place they're not gonna be able to be removed and at the same time they're gonna be keeping your accessories that may be installed in the top channel from being removed. Now these end caps are durable, they're constructed of polypropylene, and again these metal lock cores are keyed tolike. And you're going to receive two keys and you're gonna get four locking end caps.

I purchased these to go with the Rhino-Rack SX Series Legs for Vortex Aero Crossbars - Flush Factory Side Rails - Qty 4. Works awesome.
This is a simple review for a simple product. If you plan on using your Rhino Vortex bars with accessories that slide into the T-Slot channel and lock down on the bars, you need these locks. They are well integrated and of high quality and they simply lock the ends of each of your bars. If you only use the clamp style rack accessories that fit around the bar and clamp down, then these locks will be completely useless for you. They are only meant to protect items that are physically attached to the bars via t-slot/channel.
Very irritated I had to buy these when I spent over $[XX] on a roof rack. You think spending that much money they would just come with the metal cores. The plastic ones just fall off or easily come right out
I order Rhino-Rack Locking Endcaps for Vortex Aero Crossbars - Metal Cores to replace the plastic endcaps. The metal cores are firmly attached to the Rhino-Rack Crossbars than the plastic cores. The photo is from my 2008 Nissan Altima 3.5L V6 SE Sedan attached with Rhino-Rack Roof Rack system and Swagman roof bike rack. I order Swagman roof bike rack from etrailer.com, too.
I wish the cap was metal as well not just the lock barrels. It seems someone could melt it with a heat source and pop the lock off. It is better than the stock endcap that came with it that is all plastic
Definitely an improvement over the stock caps. However I did have an issue with one of them still being able to pulled off while in the locked position. It has stayed on though.
These end caps were easy to install and much better than the plastic version.
Fits my truck perfectly, looks really good, and was a great deal less expensive than the bigger name brands you probably know about. The customer service was fantastic and the installation video they supplied was customized to my specific truck and rack kit making it a breeze to put on the roof.
Might be overkill, but I like everything locked and secure. I think it is a worthwhile upgrade for the plastic locks that come with the crossbars.

We didn't realize that the racks already came with a basic plastic locking function but we feel more secure knowing that we have a higher quality lock. Having the keys instead of the plastic tool is also easier to keep track of.
Very nice product heavy duty steel locking mechanisms with two keys, fits right in to prevent theft.Using product to transport kayaks around.

If you don't want to have the plastic cores get these. They work well and use a normal key, not a round one like the plastic caps come with. It's worth the price in my opinion.
Great product. We carried our kayaks all of last year with no issues at all. If you are looking for quality this is what you need.

I bought the rhino rack rooftop rack a year ago and am very pleased with my purchase. I also added a rhino rack bike carrier to carry my road bike with me. It has performed very well on several camping trips in the past year.
Received the full Rhino Rack kit with Vortex Bars to go over my F150 crew cab short bed with Retrax Pro XR retractable Tonneau cover. Took about 20' to install and have the full kit working first time out of the box. Great service delivery, everything included in one shipment! The 71" bar size gave 3.75" on either side of the towers and still kept the end of the rails within the overall edges of the truck line.

This has been an excellent purchase. The aerobatic profile produces negligible noise at highway speeds. They were easy to mount on my 2012 Honda Fit and make it look very sporty. The black finish looks especially good. The assembly and mounting instructions were thorough and easy to follow. The locking metal aero bar end caps work perfectly. Overall an excellent product that I recommend highly to anyone needing a stylish, quiet and easy to mount roof rack.
Received Rhino roof rack for Toyota Highlander, 2018. Rapid delivery, easy assembly but takes an hour or so. Like the feature that racks are easy to put on and remove, after installation of custom mounting brackets. With this type of straight rack i have no desire to leave on all the time. Perfect for my application of occasional use for Kayak, lumber, doors, etc.
I love my rhino racks they been very useful and they are still in great shape
The Rhino Rack locking end caps gave us the security we were looking for and is a nice finishing touch for the entire roof rack package.

As for an update, these locks have been solid and have performed as they should. Ive used my Rhino rack many times over the year and for the accessories I have that use the T-Slot channel, Ive never felt that items I left on top of the car were at risk or not secure enough. They are always on through rain, snow and everything else, and the locking mechanisms have not rusted and they still perform well. Quality Product.
