Note: Tie-down straps must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the straps being used. For example, if you are using straps with a WLL of 500 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 1,000 lbs, then you need at least 2 straps to safely secure that load. To determine the maximum load, or break strength, of the strap, simply multiply the WLL by 3. The WLL is always one-third (1/3) of the maximum load. It is recommended that you always use straps in pairs.

Today, we're gonna take a quick look at the Cam Buckle Strap Kit from Rhino Rack. Now this kit is going to give you an option to be able to secure your cargo on top of your Pioneer platform rack, so that it's secure to and from your destination. In your kit, you're going to get two cam buckle straps, which have four rubber-coated hooks that hook on to the four eyelet anchors that come with your kit. The eyelet anchors mount into the T-track of your Pioneer rack. Once you tighten them down, they're going to make for great and solid tie-down points. When securing your cargo, you do want to keep in mind that the safe working of load limit for this kit is going to be 330 pounds, so do you make sure that your cargo does not exceed that weight. The straps are going to be long enough to secure any loads that are a little bit wider. If you have some bags or some cargo that's going to extend the width of your Pioneer rack. Now, I do want you to keep in mind that if you're fully loading your Pioneer rack from the length and the width all the way across that you might want to pick up a couple more straps just because two may not be enough to secure all of that cargo.
We do carry more of these Rhino Rack Cam buckle straps here at etrailer. The metal cam buckles are going to have a protective rubber casing around them. It's going to help make sure it doesn't harm or scratch the finish of whatever cargo you might be hauling, and it's also gonna protect the buckle from any damage should you drop it. Not only is the rubber coated hook going to be very strong, you can see it has a lot of grip on it. The top of the S-hook comes way up here. So as long as that strap is tight, you're not going to have to worry about it coming off the eyebolts. Now the nylon strap is going to be very tough and durable, so you're not going to have to worry about your stuff slipping at all while you're traveling.
The straps are going to work just like all cam buckle straps. We're going to have two different halves to each strap. We're gonna have one with the rubber coated hook along with the buckle. Then we have the longer end with the rubber coated hook already on the other side and it's hooked onto the eyebolts. So we'll just take our strap, run it through our cam buckle.
Pull it all the way up. From here, we can go ahead and just hook it onto our eyebolts like so, and then we'll tighten it down. And then we're just gonna toss the excess over the top and go to the other side and tie it off.Tying off my excess. I'm just gonna run it back through that eyebolt just to take some of it away, and then I'll tie it off right here. The eyebolts do have a lot of adjustability.
If we want to loosen it, we can do that and just slide it in the track to wherever our cargo might be. Now, if we don't have a necessarily a wide load, we can bring it out here, pull it out of the T-slot. We can move it to whatever slot on the Pioneer rack that best fits our load.I'll pull it out here. We'll take a closer look at the hardware that comes with it. Go ahead and take the plate off. You can see right here, which is what tightens it down to the T-track. We're also going to have two flat washers and a lock washer on there to make sure that it stays secure. That's the order it goes in, the lock washer, the big flat washer, small flat washer, and then the plate. Just thread that on. And then making sure all the washers sit between the plate and the Pioneer rack. Just slide it to where we need it and we'll tighten it down. You can just use your hand for this. Once it gets pretty tense, give it a good turn. Now if you don't feel comfortable with just tagging it with your hands, you can just take a screwdriver, anything like that, put it in there, turn it a little bit more. The eyebolts are going to have a very thick, galvanized steel construction, so they are going to be very durable and they're going to resist rust and corrosion.Well, thank you all for watching. That's going to do for our look at the Cam Buckle Strap Kit from Rhino Rack.
