Michael: Hi, there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a quick look at the replacement shock absorber. This is going to replace the shock absorber for your Roadmaster comfort ride trailer suspension. Obviously, it's going to do the same thing as the original, so it is a nice heavy duty gassed shock that's going to absorb the road vibrations and provide more comfortable towing experience. It is nitrogen charged, so it is going to eliminate the trailer bouncing and chucking, porpoising that you sometimes get with your trailers.
If you have the Roadmaster comfort ride system, this is going to be an exact replacement from Roadmaster, so you can trust it's going to integrate into your system completely. You're not going to have to worry about compatibility issues or anything like that. It is going to be an exact replacement, get you up and running again so that your ride with your trailer is far more comfortable. That's going to complete our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com.
Thanks for watching.

Replaces 1 of the gas-powered shock absorbers in your Roadmaster Comfort Ride trailer suspension system.Fast shipping and the shocks are very m ade.
Because of Covid, I have not been able to use my RV since.
Installed a year ago, I made a drilling template to help locate the frame mounting bracket screw holes. Installed a set on (2) fivers, spent average of 2.5 hours for total installation per fiver. Helped the ride of the trailer. Would certainly recommend the shock kit.
Prior to installing this kit, the tires would contact the wood floor of the 5th wheel (Cougar 25RES) and were starting to wear a groove. Now that the kit has been installed the rubbing has stopped. I've also noticed the drawers, that had previously self-opened, are now staying shut. Installation was fairly straight forward. I drilled and tapped the holes, for the plates, as the self-tapping screws refused to go in straight. I also put a nut on the outside screws, the others are blocked by the belly pan.
This setup has been very good in reducing bumps and vibrations into the 5th wheel. It is cost effective and it works extremely well on my 2019 GD Reflection337rls. running 14 ply tires. Two weeks before this review I was under the Reflection and saw the bottom of one of the sleeper springs that had pivoted off center. Before I even touched it I went to the other u-bolt springs nuts to check tightness and torques. The other three showed no change from the install a year previous. The spring that had the issue all the u-bolt nuts were loose....so loose that I could move the nut with a wrench and one finger. So if three were good from the install why is one so bad? I put the spring back inline and retorqued the u-bolts according to the dexter axle data. Is my spring center guide pin bad now? Is this a warranty claim to etrailer? Do I need a new u-bolt due to thread stretching? I have not been on the road. since I reset the spring. Do u-bolt nuts commonly work themselves loose? Most often they do not due to the rust and corrosion. These nuts this loose after a year leave me with some install questions.
Install wasn’t bad. Grand design welds a V bracket inside the spring hangers for more strength so that was my only challenge on install. This caused a problem on the center hanger as the spacer wouldn’t fit. Had to grind about a quarter inch off the spacer so it would fit as I could only bend the bottom of the hangers so much. Will be towing about 100 miles this weekend so it will be nice to hopefully not have broken drawers in the back of the trailer as well as shelves in the fridge door dislodged. I also did the X factor cross braces on the front and rear hangers for more strength. Will post back after we get more miles on it, but given all the other positive reviews I don’t think I’ll be unhappy.
Installed two of theses on a Tracer 23RBS, 28Ft. Had everything needed for complete install, decent quality. Instructions had just enough info for proper install. Gas shocks a plus, anticipating a more stable ride.
This was a worth while suspension upgrade in my opinion. It has eliminated the bouncing around after you hit a ruff patch of road. I also installed Roadmaster’s Slipper Springs at the same time, it has made a huge difference.
I had a tech install the shocks on our 2019 Shasta Phoenix 37FE fifth wheel. He did an excellent job and now we experience a better ride and a lot less surprises when we arrive and open our camper door. Railroad crossing, terrible Georgia interstates, and ruff roads are allot smoother now with less bouncing.
Great product! Excellent installation instructions (for the DIYer inclined to step up!). Excellent support... I ordered the wrong kit (my axle size was different) but customer service worked with me to correct it. I installed the shocks incorrectly but the service team quickly pointed out that I misread the instructions. I have a 12,000 pound, 38' trailer with a lift on the back for my 900 pound motorcycle. I've put around 7500 miles on it including a couple times across the Rockies and absolutely love the handling. Self installation is not for the feint of heart but it saved me around $10k labor not having a dealer install it.
What a great product. The difference it made in our ride was outstanding. You almost forget you are towing a 35 ft 5th wheel behind you. We travel from West coast to East coast over all type roads and this product made such a difference. Sorry we didn't have it installed sooner. Definitely made a differance and would highly recommend to all Rv owners.
Not being able to experience riding in the 5th wheel RV it's difficult to state the ride quality. However, without a gas shock absorber system the spring suspension is allowed, "out of control movement". Frequently I inspect the suspension and I suspect the Roadmaster System is doing what it's designed for. I would recommend this product.
RE: MORryde RV Shackle Kit-2.25" Shackles-The Wet Shackle Kit is an improvement over stock. However, despite frequent maintenance, greasing, the bronze bushings need to be replaced. With that said, it would be prudent to mfg. the bushings using yellow brass for longevity. It would be appreciated if MORryde would provide all new replacement bushings. During maintenance a top quality tenacious waterproof grease is used.
Overall, doing business with e-trailer is outstanding.
OMG! After having the trailer bottom out on the stock springs while traversing a RR crossing, this system has proven to be amazing. Returning from a VA campground I crossed multiple RR crossings and traveled some rough pavement. I found I had left a bottle of shower soap on the ledge in the shower! It was still there when I set up in my yard. Not possible with the stock suspension!
Along with the new springs....everything works as advertised. Well satisfied. No complaints.
I had to modify the one set of shock brackets to fit, as I have raised the trailer 5 inches
to match up with the 4 inch raised truck.
Otherwise...no swaying....no bouncing........no problems.
Thanks etrailer for your help.

1. The impression from "people" was usually "why shocks on a camper", which I would answer "why shocks on your car".
2. The ride was much better; as you may imagine driving your car without shocks. And the sway was minimized & the braking effectiveness increase.
3. We've sold that RV and on our new one already planning the install; and including the wet bolts and mod on the leaf-spring hangers.
My axles are attached above the leaf springs. This complicated the installation a bit but was not prohibitive. I have tandem axles and purchased two(2) of these kits for the trailer. Immediately, we noticed that the trailer was more stable when parked without the outriggers deployed. I wish I could get detailed drawing of the shock brackets. Knowing the designed angle where the shock absorbers mount would have been very helpful with the installation.
I am leaving for my first road trip and look forward to the increased stability during towing and not having the trailer contents thrown about during transport.
Very good product. Instructions and video very good as I installed the suspension and shocks myself. Took me about a day.
I have put about 10,000 miles since the install. No problems & nothing coming loose. Helps to take some of the roughness out of the road vs standard equalizers
This is a great kit! Everything needed is included. Be sure to purchase the heavy duty wet bolt kit for the shackles.
All travel trailers should be equipped with shock absorbers. Roadmaster nailed it with the brackets which fit perfectly. Be sure to order the longer u bolts.
We've been on the road since February 2024. And this system is been smooth and great. No broken stuff in the trailer and we've hit some bad bumps I would definitely recommend it.
This has been the best upgrade on my toy hauler to date. Great smooth ride .
We installed these on our 2022 Riverstone Legacy 39RKFB and without a doubt they have saved us on broken rims (many have this issue) and the ride was an instant upgrade. We drove a 6500-mile trip over the summer to ZION and Rockies and no issues at all. I installed them myself and recommend them as an inexpensive solution to expensive independent suspension.
