Video Transcript for Roadmaster Anti-Sway Bars RM-590050-00 Review

Speaker 1: Today, we're going to take a look at the extended U-bolt kit for the Roadmaster anti-sway bars. Now, these 15 and seven eighth inch long U-bolts are used to install your Roadmaster anti-sway bars to your vehicle. Now, the Roadmaster anti-sway bar kits number RM-1139-143, RM-1139-144, and the RM-1139-149 are all used in conjunction with the vehicle's factory bar and it mounts using the factory U-bolt.Some vehicles that those kits fit on, they may require these extended U-bolts. Basically, these extended length U-bolts are designed to replace your vehicle's square factory U-bolts if they're too short. These parts are made in the USA, and just to give you some dimensions on this. The usable length, which will be measured from the end here to the inside, going to be right at 15 and seven eighth inches.

The thread length, in other words how much thread is on the end of each one goes up to there, is going to be right at five and a half inches, and in the inside width is going to be right at four and a quarter inches wide. But, that should do it for the review on the extended U-bolt kit for the Roadmaster anti-sway bars.

Prior to installation of this kit my RV acted like it was going to tip over as it swayed from side to side when I made a turn or was hit by a cross-wind. Post install the drivability of my 37' RV increased by 100%.

by:

I purchased a Roadmaster sway bar kit and longer shackle bolts from E-Trailer. The sway bar came on time with free shipping! Upon closer inspection I realized I needed the longer shackle bolts. I called and found it was in stock and available in 2 days with free shipping! Their prices are very competitive and then you get excellent service. It also helps that the shipping was free at this time.

Thank you for asking. The sway bar continues to perform as expected.

I purchased these U-bolts along with the Roadmaster rear anti-sway bar upgrade. I planned to install myself, but as it turned out installation required a very large torque wrench, that I did not have. As a note, a call to a third-party U-bolt source tech support suggested that the original U-bolts should not be reused, even if they're long enough. Apparently suspension U-bolt threads are cut in a manner not intended to be retorqued.

by:

Order received promptly new tail lights installed also rear sway bar thanks

by:

Paula S at Roadmaster was a big help when I ordered our front and rear sway bars. She recommended these extended U-bolts and the mechanic who installed them said they were good and necessary.

by:

I ordered the wrong U-bolts with my original order. Make sure you crawl under your coach and look before you order. I had a 50/50 shot and got it wrong. I definitely needed the longer U-bolts installing the rear sway bar on my 24000 GVW coach. The exchange with etrailer went through without a problem. Very good company to deal with. I had to pay a restocking charge but that was to be expected seeing how I made the mistake.

by:

Do not but from anyone else. etrailer and their staff are second to none. Their follow through is the best in the business. Not to mention they let you know how long your wait will be. Who does that!!! I have ordered 7 items in the past month and have been more than pleased with all.

Thank you etrailer staff!!

by:

These make life so much easier and are really essential with dual wheel setups.

by:

We haven't installed these yet, so this is more a review of etrailer's service and shipping. All I can say is these guys know their stuff and are more than happy to share their wealth of experience with you prior to purchase and after the purchase. They will not leave you hanging and wondering how, when, where-ing your purchase. They have how-to videos, knowledge base articles, and vehicle match algorithms that all help you pick and install the correct product for your vehicle. The shipping is surprisingly fast........fast fast. My confirmation email said it would be 7-8 days and the packages arrived in two days. When I complete the install I will update this review with fit and performance data. So buy with confidence!

  • Dimensions of # RM-590050-00 U-bolt For Roadmaster Anti-Sway Bar
The # RM-590050-00 U-bolt is 3/4 inches in diameter with a 16 thread per inch thread pitch. The length of the U-bolt is 15-7/8 and the distance between the legs is 4-1/4 inches, as you can see in the diagram I've provided for you.

  • Is Extended U-Bolt Kit Needed when Installing Anti-Sway Bar on 2000 Ford F53 Class A Motor Home
The factory u-bolts will need to be long enough to account for the extra 1/2 inch of thickness and still have at least 3 threads exposed past the nut when properly installed. If you look at the u-Bolts now you can measure how much of u-bolt ends extend past the nut. Based on that you would be able to tell if you need u-bolt kit # RM-590050-00 or not.

The rear anti-sway bar # RM-1139-149 will fit the V10 Ford F-53 chassis if the gross vehicle weight rating is 22K, 24K, or 26K. Based on your description you will need # RM-590050-00 u-bolt replacement kit. I have included a link to a video showing an example installation for you. It is a good idea to lift the RV and then use jack stands to support just the axle. With the vehicle supported elsewhere and the axle supported by jack stands it is less likely for the vehicle to "slip" off the...

  • Installing Extended U-bolts for Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar 1139-143 on 2004 F-53 Chassis
The Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar for Motorhomes # RM-1139-143 can use your factory u-bolts if they are long enough. If they are not, then Roadmaster recommends using the 7/8 inch diameter u-bolts that are longer (most likely the larger diameter due to length needed to ensure strength). I've attached a couple photos from the installation instructions to assist with the size and torque. When torque specs are so large either a large special torque wrench is required or installers are...

  • How to Determine if Longer U-Bolts are Needed When Upgrading Anti-Sway Bar for 2015 Vista 27N
To determine whether or not a longer U-Bolt kit is needed when you install the Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar # RM-1139-146 on your 2015 Winnebago Vista 27N Motorhome you need to look at your current U-Bolts and take a measurement. The bracket that comes with the anti-sway bar kit is 1/2" thick so you just have to make sure that you have 1/2" of extra space on your current U-Bolts plus room to have 3 threads left over. If you have enough room then you don't need the longer U-Bolts. If you...

  • Are Extended U-Bolts Needed To Install the Roadmaster Rear Sway Bar On a 2018 Jayco Precept 36T
The Extended U-Bolt Kit part # RM-590050-00 (square) or part # RM-590050-10 (round) may be needed to install the Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar part # RM-1139-149 on your 2018 Jayco Precept 36T but I cannot give you a yes or no answer. • Recommended Anti-Sway Bar for 2006 Fleetwood Bounder Gas Engine on Ford F53 Chassis
I did a little bit of research and it looks like 2006 Fleetwood Bounder with a gas engine was built on a Ford F53 chassis like you mentioned, so the correct rear anti-sway bar for your rig with a GVWR of 20,500-lbs is the Roadmaster # RM-1139-143. It should be noted that the factory u-bolt may not be long enough for the factory nut, washer and 1/2" plate when used with this bar. The Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar # 1139-144 that you referenced is a 1-3/4 inch thick anti-sway bar. I confirmed this with Roadmaster. To determine if you will need the u-bolt kit # RM-590050-00 you will need to check out the current u-bolts your rear suspension is using.
