Features:

  • Qty: (2) Diodes
  • Reduces wiring hassles
  • Trouble free operation
  • Includes detailed wiring instructions
  • Maximum load is 85 amps per diode

Video Transcript for Roadmaster Tow Bar Wiring RM-792 Review

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the ROADMASTER Hy-Power diode. Now, this will allow motor homes or RVs to power the lights on the tow vehicle without power feedback. The diodes allow electrical current to flow in one direction. So, that'd be from the motor home to the vehicle or to the car. This prevents any electrical feedback and the damage it may cause to the electrical components. This is available in a variety of quantities, so you can get a one pack, a two pack, three pack, or four pack. All options are available at etrailer.com.

For a one pack, use part number RM-790, for a two pack, use part number RM-792, for a three pack, use part number RM-793 and for a four pack, part number RM-794.The spade connectors allow for easy, trouble free, wiring connections. Also, on the back of the packaging, it has detailed wiring instructions, so that's really going to be helpful. So, when you get these, please do not discard the packaging because it has the nice wiring instructions on the back side. The aluminum heat sync helps prevent over heating. The self stick pad on the back allows for easy and secure mounting. Maximum load is 85 amps per diode and please note that four diodes are required for most applications, one for the left turn and break, one for the right turn and break and then two for the tail lights, one per side. That's going to do it for today's look at the ROADMASTER Hy-Power diode..

Used on a trailer to add a strobe function on my existing trailer lights, and not backfeed to the truck. Has worked great for over a year now, in snow and rain it hasn’t failed.

by:

Good product with excellent service! I can now use my reverse lights as work lights without back feeding my truck. Works great to correct those who have a have a habit of driving behind you with high beams on....

by:

I purchase these to set up my toad (CR-V) with the Road master 7 to 6 wiring kit along with the 2 back into 3 wire module to allow for me the use the turn signal lights (Yellow) operate separately from the brake lights so that the toad lights all work as they were set up by the manufacturer. This way also allows you to avoid having to buy the brake light relay if your vehicle brake lights are energized by the mechanical function of your braking system. Your overall cost is relative and as stated all of your lights work instead of the typical stop/tail/turn signal bulb on each side.

still great looks and works professionally

by:

Can use these for allot more than just a towed vehicle. I used them for my loading lights on my trailer to help with backing the trailer at night. Just pulled reverse power wire from 7 pin to original cargo light wiring. Works great.

by:

1950 Spartan Royal Mansion. Thank you for your ongoing help and wide array of products!!!

by:

I bought these diodes to replace two that the connectors corroded to the point the taillights on the towed vehicle wouldn’t work. The old ones lasted 6-7 years which is pretty good. When I hook up the new ones I’m going to put some waterproofing over the connectors.

by:

Product worked as advertised tail lights on my Jeep work great when towing with my RV.
Diode packaging has helpful wiring diagrams on back.

by:

Bought these diodes formy license plate lights on my toad. The wiring kits only come with 4 diodes which would not allow the license plate lights to be light when towing.

by:

I was very impressed with the trailer.com… Not only was the ordering very simple and effective and done in less than a few minutes I received the package in a very timely manner! Also I called the office spoke with Michelle and got the best customer service possible with an additional order… I will highly recommend etrailer.com to all of my friends!

by:

Easy to install and worked as advertised. Installed 6 diodes and Curt inverter inside tail lights vs. inside of vehicle having to remove panels. Saved hours of work.

by:

Easy to install them in my old jeep wrangler for the flat towing!

by:

I just installed them and they work as they should. I was isolating lighting on an equipment trailer for a brake and turn circuit. Now it does not backfeed.

by:

I am very happy with the product, I installed them and now my lights work great.
I was very please with my customer service rep. she knew her product line and worked with me to fix my problem. Thanks

by:

Perfect for connecting the tail lights from my RV to my car on the car dolly.

by:

I haven't installed the product yet, but it was exactly what I needed. Diodes of this type are not the easiest thing to find. Etrailer had them, and not only is their website laid out well, but the service and shipping were very fast.

by:

Product worked exactly as expected. Very clear and detailed instructions. Great service and shipping as usual from e-trailer.

by:

Response to phone calls quickly and knows what he’s talking about

by:

Product as advertised. Must wrap with tape and use dialectic grease to prevent failure of this part. Other then my haphazard initial wrapping, the product worked very well.

by:

These diodes are easy to work with and looks great. The only issue I had with them was the self stick pads weren't great.

by:

Exact product needed. Prompt shipping. Fair price. Package included good application instructions.

by:

as described and fast shipping
Thanks
for the good service etrailer

by:

I needed these to wire a TOAD (tow vehicle). They have worked as advertised.

The plus is that they are quality products.

The con is that they are not cheap.

  • Recommended Flat Tow Setup for Blue Ox Tow Bar on 2008 Honda CR-V
For your 2008 Honda CR-V, you will want to start with the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # BX2246 which will be directly compatible with your tow bar. The tow bar you are describing is likely the old alpha or avail model, either of which will work just fine. If you want to determine which model you have, you can find it printed on the driver's side leg under the latch handle according to my contact at Blue Ox. If you don't have the safety chains, you will also want # BX88196....

  • Will the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit Fit a 2006 Scion xB
Yes, the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit part # RM-15267 will work on your 2006 Scion xB. The universal design of the system works on practically any vehicle which is why it is such a popular option. It also comes with pretty much all that you need to complete the task including wire connectors, zip ties, etc. The Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit system will cause your brake lights to function as both brake and turn signal lights. • Are Additional Parts Needed for Separate Wiring When Installing Roadmaster Light Kit RM-15267
For a vehicle with separate lighting, it is not necessary to use additional parts when installing the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. The kit will work, but it will cause your brake lights to function as both the brake and turn signal lights. If that's okay with you, no other parts are needed, but if you want to keep your brake lights and turn signals separate you will just need to add a converter, the Vehicle to Vehicle Tail Light Converter # 118158...

  • Recommendation For Flat Towing 2009 Jeep Wrangler Behind RV
Yes, either braking system will work. Both the Blue Ox Patriot, Item # BLU37TR, and the Roadmaster InvisiBrake System, Item # RM-8700, are good options. Both will need power connections so you can connect the Patriot with a 12V Outlet Kit like Item # RM-9332 and the InvisiBrake will connect directly to the battery. Of the two, I recommend the Roadmaster InvisiBrake System, Item # RM-8700, because it is a one-time install and then you are good to go. Because you will need to disconnect...

  • Can Roadmaster Hy-Power Diode be Used to Keep DRL Function from Backfeeding
Diodes like the Roadmaster Hy-Power Diode # RM-790 are designed to keep circuits from backfeeding into each other so this should work just fine for 2 inputs and 1 output. If you need 2 of these diodes we have them kitted together as part # RM-792.

  • Tow Bar Wiring to Flat Tow a 1996 Geo Tracker Behind a Motor Home
You can use a diode kit like # 38955 on your 1996 Geo Tracker but there are several things to consider. First, it looks like your Tracker has turn signals that are separate from the brake and running lights. If this is so then by using a 4 diode kit, all the functions will use the brake/running light bulb and the vehicle turn signals will not be used at all. If the towing vehicle (RV) has separate bulbs as well and no trailer connector, you would either need to use a tail light converter,...

  • Recommendation For Flat Towing 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
I looked in the owner's manual and flat towing is fine unless you have the Quadra-Trac I, 4x4 package. There are also specific towing instructions in the owner's manual so make sure to review it. To flat tow your 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee, you will need base plates, a tow bar, safety cables, wiring, a braking system, and maybe a high-low hitch adapter. For base plates, I recommend the Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit, Item # 1425-1, because it is designed for your vehicle. It also has...

The correct Base Plate Kit for your FJ Cruiser is the Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit # 1183-1 instead. This will work great with the Roadmaster BlackHawk 2 All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-422 that you mentioned. If your 2010 Chevy Colorado is not a Z71 or a Xtreme then the Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit, # 3122-1, is the correct base plate kit. The XL series brackets allow the visible parts of the bracket to be removed if the vehicle is not being towed. If you have the 2010 Chevy Colorado Z71 model you would need the Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit, # 3164-1. There is not a base plate kit for the Xtreme model. • Wiring a Truck Bed Converted into a Trailer with Separate Wiring
The # C55379 Curt harness is going to put a vehicle side trailer connector at the back of your truck bed trailer. So it's not going to plug into the connector at the back of your tow vehicle. Instead use the # TR118821 wiring harness that splices into the truck bed's tail lights. Then add the 2-to-3 converter, part # C56196, like you mentioned with 2 extra diodes, part # RM-792, to separate the circuits so you can use the brake lights and turn signals independently.

For your 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe 4x4, I recommend the Roadmaster MX Base Plate Kit, Item # 3154-3, because it is designed for your vehicle. It is built with heavy-duty applications in mind.
