Great kit, instructions are a bit weak. Search for videos on how to use it, there are several. One of the 3/4” top lock nuts supplied was defective and would not go all the way on to the bolt. The staff at etrailer sent me a replacement at no cost! Results were worth effort, my 15+ year old towbar is like new.

by:

Kit was fine but couldn't remove the arm fitting to replace the pin and spring.

It could be that the arm was overextended which has caused it to lock out. To release it from that position, you will need to remove the dust cap by the latch assembly. Then, you can take a screwdriver and press down on the anvil inside the arm. I will send you a diagram that should help place each part via email.

Probably the easiest thing I've done is rebuilding my Falcon 2 towbar. Everything I needed with instructions came with the kit. It works better and doesn't shake like before. If you have to do it, this is the kit to get.

Tow bar has been used 6 times since the rebuild and is doing just great. Of course, regular maintenance is always done, cleaning, greasing, painting, etc. Very happy with the rebuild and may end up doing it again in 2-3 years.

by:

After thousands of miles of use, my tow bar got kind of loose and sloppy making it more time consuming to hook up the car. This kit made it like new again.

by:

The larger nuts were a bear to get off and on. Required a cheater bar. Still the entire process was relatively simple. Product was as advertised and vastly improved the fitment and smoothness of the tow bar.

by:

Half the instructions showed the push button releases and the installation for them I have the lever style

by:

good instructions.

by:

The pieces fit perfectly, and fixed the problem I had with my tow bar. You can’t ask for more than that!

by:

Easy Rebuild, works fine

by:

Had my tow bar overhauled and works like when it was new about 18 years ago.
Thanks much to the folks at eTrailer.
They always have me covered.

by:

Perfect, shipping, product thank you

by:

I spent over $[XX] for shipping took almost a week to get it I think you owe me some money for shipping

by:

Solved my problem

by:

The road master rebuild kit was easy to install. The replacement parts were better made then the original . The SS springs were heavy duty and made sure the locking pins stayed in place . Only negative, I had a hard time finding a 5/8 hex socket. One year and no problems on the road.

by:

Overall experience with Etrailer is excellent! Even with a few mix-ups and mis- communication on both our parts, Etrail;er has made every effort to make the situation right to my satisfaction in a timely manner. In particular I am very impressed with the helpful videos on installation and product reviews. on the items I've purchased-BIG HELP! Better yet was the fact that Etrailer installs what they sell for no-charge, granted one has to schedule somewhat a few days in the advance and need to drive to their location in Missouri, but it was so worth it for my 2020 Chevy Traverse baseplate installation since I had to be in the area anyway. Plus they did a video of the installation.

by:

As always, etrailer has great service and parts inventory for any rv or trailer project. I needed rebuild parts for a Roadmaster Blackhawk 2 tow bar. They had everything in stock. Ian was great to work with and corrected an order when I had made a mistake when ordering. I have used etrailer many times in the past few years and will not go anywhere else. I especially enjoy their You Tube videos on various installation procedures. Since I am a DIY person, this is important! Everyone should make this their go to place.

by:

All the parts you need for rebuilding your tow bar system. Instructions were not real clear but I did get it all back together safety. Had to call Roadmaster for clarification.

by:

Repair kit arrived as described, had all the parts I needed, and then some. I was most interested in the hardened locking pins as mine were worn over time. Included instructions are pretty good with photos, would have been helpful to have the exploded assembly diagram, the one with numbers pointing to the various parts. During the overhaul process I learned that arms were sliding harder and harder due to the corrosion and dirt inside the square tubes. Hardest job was getting that cleaned out. Once cleaned out lubed with silicon sliding easy again.

by:

Repair kit was perfect for the Falcon 2 tow bar. You may end up with parts over as it covers older and newer versions of the tow bar.

Read the instructions a number of times and make a copy to use while repairing as the original gets dirty fast. There is a you tube which has good info on correct reassembly.

Overall not as easy as I first thought but great satisfaction when job complete and better awareness of why you use only silicone.

by:

My Falcon 2 had seen many years of use both before and after I acquired it. I had a struggle with the release of the Lock pins and the shafts did not collapse as easily as theyhad earlier in its life. The $38 rebuild kit was a welcome option vs a several hundred dollar replacement bar. As usual etrailer got it to me fast and I was able to complete the procedure today after the mail run. My only difficulty was that the two 1-1/8” nuts proved to be more than a match for my tool collection. I ended up taking the tow bar to a nearby garage to have those very tight nuts removed and renewed with the provided replacements. Well worth the $10 gratuity. Not complaining, I can appreciate the necessity of these connections being so robust because of the critical job they are called on to perform. The kit I received didn’t have the epoxy pictured on the web site but I had some but didn’t find it necessary to use any due to the extremely snug fit of the plastic caps after heating them up in boiling water. Anyway, the tow bar is now back to spec, the budget wasn’t busted and I won’t be dreading disconnecting my dinghy going forward.

Complete kit to rebuild the falcon tow bar
All
parts fit perfect!!

by:

I am a big etrailer fan, great expertise help, if needed and fairly quick shipping, usually about a week to get to northern Cal. As for this repair kit, it is almost everything I need. Not hard, but you will need a 1-1/8 socket or open end wrench and a 5/8" allen wrench, a little larger than I use for around the RV type stuff. Also it is recommended that you buy Voom RV cleaner and I didn't read that until after I received the instructions.

by:

I HAVE ALWAYS ENJOYED GREAT SERVICE AND FRIENDLY RECEPTION WHEN DEALING WITH ETRAILER. THANKS FOR BEING THERE.

RESPECTFULLY

by:

  • Troubleshooting Arms on Roadmaster Falcon 2 Not Locking Into Place
Your memory does serve you right and both arms on your Roadmaster Falcon 2 # RM-520 are designed to "lock up" as this is not a non-binding tow bar; whether or not they've been able to get the arms to lock without performing the two sharp turns I don't know to be true. With that said, since you're going through the setup procedure that would normally cause the arms to lock, it would appear your bar might be damaged. • One Arm of Roadmaster Falcon Tow Bar Unlocks When Motorhome Brakes
Over time, dirt and debris can build up on the retracting portion of the tow bar arms.
