We love our Roadmaster Brakemaster RV toad braking unit, and this quick connect air hose fitting is an essential part of it. Unfortunately the original in our RV is no longer reliable due to lots of use. We were happy to find this OEM replacement. I would have given 5 stars had the manufacturer included the tiny, cheap brass insert needed to do a proper installation. I found out later I needed it and ordered it separately.

Which Side of the Flat Tow Setup Does Female Air Connector Install On for BrakeMaster
The male side like the part # RM-921004-50 is designed for the vehicle side like you mentioned. The RV side is the part # RM-921004-60. I'd recommend switching your setup to the recommended way as it wasn't tested to be used backwards and like you said there would be air leaks most likely.

Parts Needed to Install Brakemaster On RV When Tow Vehicle is Already Set Up
For the BrakeMaster parts for the RV side of your setup you will need a car to RV air line assembly, # RM-921004-88. I also recommend the quick disconnect kit, RV side, # RM-921004-60. And you will need some air line, # RM450700, sold by the foot. Inside the RV you will need kit # RM-98850.

You can get both sides of the quick disconnect for the Brakemaster braking system using part # RM-921004-80. Or for the female end with the L-shaped mounting bracket use # RM-921004-60. Or for just the female fitting use # RM-450710.

For your Roadmaster BrakeMaster System w BrakeAway for RVs w Air or Air Over Hydraulic Brakes # RM-9160, I recommend swapping out the vehicle side connector with # RM-921004-50, and then the connecting hose should work as normal with # RM-450710 on one side, and # RM-450720 on the other end.
