Today we'll be having a look at the Roadmaster seven wire to six wire straight cord kit, part number RM-98146-7. Here's what it looks like installed. As you can see, being routed inside of our channel here on our all terrain tow bar, it will keep the cable from dragging on the ground when we're hooked up to our car behind us and we're flat towing it. The six and a half foot long cable that we have here will give us adequate length in order to do tight maneuvers, such as going around corners. Now when we're not flat towing our car, we can actually still leave it connected to our RV, and just store our tow bar like normal. Our safety cable is here on the other end. We can just wrap around the tow bar, and secure them up and out of the way with a zip tie if we want. Or if we have a tow bar storage bag, we can store it inside the storage bag, and wrap it up with the included loop and strap there. When we're ready to tow our vehicle behind our RV, we'll just reverse that process.
Hook up our safety cables, the tow bar, and the connector, and we're ready to get on the road. One thing that our customers have pointed out, a lot of people have questioned why the tip of this is plastic. Because if you tighten the set screw here too much, it can damage the plastic. The reason it's plastic is so if there's any corrosion that happens inside here, the plastic won't conduct any electricity, and it won't cause any shorts between the other pins inside this connector here, potentially causing damage to your tow vehicle, or back feeding voltage to your RV, damaging it as well. That's why you want to have a plastic connector here, versus a metal one. Some customers have also noticed that the wiring diagram here, Diagram A on the back of the package which helps you do your wiring codes, this is the industry standards for the colors that are on the back of your seven way, not for the wire colors that are on the bare ends that you're putting on the end of your six way. Over here, your brake light, that will be your electric brake wire for terminal S.
That's your blue wire. The auxiliary is your charge line, that's your black wire. Your right turn signal, that's your green wire. Your tail light and marker, that's your brown. Your ground is your white wire.
Your left turn signal is your yellow wire. That's something to keep in mind. We have a nice chart on our website too if you'd like to look one up for the wiring color codes if you need it. Now that we've one over some features of our Roadmaster seven to six wire straight cord kit, we'll show you how to install it. First thing we need to do is locate which side on our RV our seven way is on. In our case, it's on the driver side.
Now that we've located our seven way, we'll take our tow bar here, get it in position. We don't need to connect to our vehicle, we just need to get the arms extended out to run our wire through. We'll be running our wire through the driver side of our tow bar. Now we have a Roadmaster Falcon all terrain tow bar here. This will work on all terrain tow bars, or any other one that has a cable guide through the frame. We'll just slide it on through from the front, making sure our seven way is at the front. Once we have it slid through, we can start working on attaching our connector. On the bottom of our six pole round connector here, we'll see that there are two Philips screws, a small one towards the end and a larger one at the other end. We'll remove these. Slide this connector on out. We'll loosen this other one out here enough so we can slide our cable on through. We'll slide it on down like so, and we'll start with our connections. These are labelled. We'll start with the left turn signal, it's the one marked, "L". We'll loosen that set screw. This is also our left brake light in our vehicle. For that, it gets the yellow wire. Push that on in there, and we'll tighten the set screw back on down. We'll do our ground next. It's the one marked, "G". That will get our white wire. We're doing our tail lights now. It's the one marked, "T". That will get the brown wire. We'll do the right turn signal now. That's the one marked, "R". That will get the green wire. Now we'll do our charge line. That's our black wire, and that goes right in the middle. Now we'll do our electric brake signal wire, or our stop light wire, depending on your application. That's the blue wire, and that's the one that goes to the terminal marked, "S". We'll make sure all of our wires are in there nice and tight now. Now we'll slide our plug over the connector in, and we'll reinstall our small set screw. We'll make sure it's nice and snug. Now we'll tighten down the set screw here, which secures our cable into the connector. This will keep it from getting pulled out accidentally. Now to finish our install here, we can take our seven way plug, and plug it into our RV. That completes our look at the Roadmaster seven wire to six wire straight cord kit, part number RM-98146-7.

Easily and effectively connect your motor home to your towed vehicle with this water-, oil- and chemical-resistant electrical cord. Perfect for RoadMaster's All Terrain tow bars and tow bars with cable channel guides.Works very good with tow system.
Fits well inside Falcon All Terrain tow bar.
Excact replacement. Good wiring diagram.
Bought this to replace an aging cord. Great product which is why I purchased it again. Also best price I could find.
Basic. No trouble
Fast and accurate delivery of this Roadmaster 7 to 6 wire cord. Easy to install and works great!
worked as intended and great customer s ervice.
Straightforward to install. This item is necessary since Roadmaster does not include it with the towbar. If this was part of the towbar the wire could be threaded into the towbar and factory-sealed to the wiring connector instead of the purchaser having to make the connection and sealing it themself.

Thank you for your review. The tow bar wiring is not included with the tow bar because not everyone needs the same connectors. This particular wiring is for a flat towing setup with a 7-way blade connector on the motor home and a 6-way round connector on the vehicle. You can purchase a cord where the 6-way round plug connector is already attached with part HM47054.

I ordered several Roadmaster components from etrailer.com to set up my 2014 Honda CRV as a toad. I can't say enough about how helpful etrailer's website is with all of their product review videos and installation videos. Their customer support is also top notch. Regarding this component (Towbar Wiring Harness), its good quality. I would have preferred a metal plug end for the 7 pin connector (like the other end of the 6 pin connector) but perhaps there is a reason it is plastic. Be careful not to screw in the set screw too deep as it will start to distort the plastic housing. The other recommendation is for Roadmaster to change the wire color key on the directions for the 7 pin. While the wires were prewired correctly, the schematic is wrong relative to the wire colors. Etrailer's tech information has a much clearer schematic for a 7 pin plug than what is provided by Roadmaster. All in all, this harness fits nicely in my Roadmaster Falcon All Terain tow bar channels and is the correct length.
Fits nicely in my Roadmaster tow bar. Works well. Still looks like new after 1 year of service.
This wiring cable is excellent! This is the third set I have purchased. The first two worked fine, they both were cut when I bottomed out with my Motorhome on two different occasions. Funny how that happens. I’m going have to be a little more careful when I run it near the hitch so I can save this cable and also some money.
Needed a replacement wire harness for towing. Ordering process and delivery of harness went smoothly.
Easy to install and used with my Roadmaster tow bar they are self-storing.
Fantastic product! Easy to install.
Erica G. Made all the difference. I wasn’t sure exactly what parts I needed but Erica G. Researched as long as it took to help me.
You don’t find customer service like that too often.
I've been using one of these cables for about 10 years. Unfortunately, my last one got pinched by a mechanic who needed to move the tow bar to work on the motor home.
This is the second time I have used them for parts needed, and have been extremely pleased. Great service, prompt attention given to both orders, didn't need expedited service or delivery because they came quick and easily . I would highly recommend this company.
Quality part, straightforward assembly/ replacement
No issues with the kit. Has worked perf ectly.
