At first when I opened the product, I thought that it might have been too small. My car has only 2-doors, so I was skeptical how it was going to hold. I was also concerned about my antenna location. With the adapter, it really looks good on the car, and really solid as well. It does leak a little when it rains out, but a little rain isn't going to stop me from having fun, and I expected it to leak a little from the mounts in between the door panel. I can't wait to add the kayak carriers onto it. I haven't ordered those parts yet, but will soon. here are a few pics to look at. I recommend it.

What number is the front and rear set to. I have my front 20 and rear 19 like the book says and one side goes off the car.

I bought the roof rack for my Toyota Solara to transport a 50 lb kayak to and from the water. I've used the rack perhaps 50 days so far. It performed as you would hope: no failures. What surprised me was how well it performs on the interstate. I wouldn't recommend taking it over 80 mph, but anything up to that point is incredibly stable.

Some cons: the rack is at its most outreached point, so that the caps are all that's holding it in place. My quick, cheap and effective fix was to use those flat rubber bungees from one cap to another. Another lightly irritating part is that the metal rubs up against the top of the window while driving, creating a chirping squeaking noise. Roll the window down to just below this point and you should be able to avoid a lot of road noise as well as the rubbing noise. The initial setup was lengthy, maybe an hour. Since getting it set up right though, taking it off is 5 minutes and putting it on is 10 minutes.

Overall review: you get what you pay for. Not the greatest removable roof rack out there, but for the price, you get a pretty good deal.

As I said in your other review it is a semi custom part so it wont be a perfect fit.

by:

Great product. Just as described.

by:

Love the product just don't like the issue of it coming loose after a while

by:

I needed the short rack for an Acura Integra. Has worked out really well!

by:

This was an excellent product for my Lexus SC300 (curved roof + 2 Door), I was skeptical at first, but I have no complaints!

by:

Good. Product just needs to be longer for people using to transport kayaks

  • How to Install the SportRack Semi-Custom Roof Rack Part # SR1003 on a 2004 Hyundai Accent 3-Door
I spoke to my contact at SportRack(Thule) about installing the SportRack Semi-Custom Roof Rack part # SR1003 on your 2004 Hyundai Accent 3-door. They informed me that the mounting feet on the front crossbar will need to be placed in the 19-3/4 position and the mounting feet on the rear crossbar will need to be placed in the 13-3/4 position. The front crossbar will then need to be placed 24" forward of the point where the edge of the door meets the cab and the rear crossbar will need to...

  • Roof Rack Fit for 2006 Ford Focus 3-Door With Sun Roof
The SportRack Semi-Custom Roof Rack for Naked Roofs # SR1002 and the Short Roof Adapter # SR1116 will fit your 2006 Ford Focus 3-Door with sun roof. The presence of the sun roof does not prevent installation of the rack, but it is possible that some rack-mount accessory items such as certain types of ski or bike racks may prevent operation of the sun roof if their hardware extends much below the level of the crossbars.

  • Will Short-Roof Adapter for SportRack Semi-Custom Roof Racks Allow Maneuverability of Roof Rack
A roof rack fit is based on the most stable and strongest locations on the roof. The Short-Roof Adapter for SportRack Semi-Custom Roof Racks, # SR1116, which you referenced, will provide some extra support and will allow you to more safely expand the bar spread to 23-3/4". The crossbars, however, will be limited to a spread of 23-3/4" because the adapter is not adjustable. However, the adapter's side rails and set of clamps do allow the rear crossbar to be moved rearward a bit.

Yes! The SportRack roof rack # SR1003 and short roof adapter # SR1116 will fit on your 1997 Geo Metro hatchback (also known as a 3 door). It's a removable roof rack that easily clamps to your naked roof on your 1997 Geo Metro. The weight capacity is 130 pounds but always be sure to check your Owners Manual for the maximum carrying capacity. You will always go with the lowest rating. The adapter # SR1116 allows you to mount the Sport Rack # SR1003 allows you to increase the distance between...

I spoke with my contact at SportRack and she confirmed that your 2007 Honda Fit Sport will not require a short roof adapter like # SR1116 with the SportRack roof rack # SR1002. Generally the adapter is needed on 2 door models with shorter roofs or dramatically curved roof lines.

  • Will SportRack # SR1002 Fit 2010 Chevrolet Malibu With Naked Roof
The SportRack Semi-Custom Roof Rack for Naked Roofs, part # SR1002 is a fit for your 2010 Malibu. The rack can accommodate a variety of accessories, and includes locks to secure the rack to the roof of your vehicle. The weight capacity of this rack is 130 lbs, but you would be limited to the capacity of your roof if it is less than that. You did not say what the intended use will be, so I linked you to a couple of our product pages for bike racks and cargo carriers for roof racks.

  • Loose Clamps on SportRack Roof Rack on 2001 Chevy Cavalier
Thank you for the photo and polite question, it was appreciated. Unfortunately, there are not actually replacement clamps for the SportRack Semi-Custom Roof Rack for Naked Roofs # SR1005 that fits your 2001 Chevy Cavalier. That said, from your photo it looks like you may need to adjust the feet and crossbars to get a tighter fit to make the clamps rise up, or there may be a loose bolt which is causing the clamps to be a bit loose.

  • Are the Short-Roof Adapters Needed for a 2005 Subaru Legacy
The Short-Roof Adapter part # SR1116 is not needed when using the SportRack Semi-Custom Roof Rack part # SR1008 on your 2005 Subaru Legacy. The adapters are only really needed for small 2 and 3-door cars or ones with a very curved roof line. The SportRack Semi-Custom Roof Rack as the name states is a semi custom fit which means it may not form to the exact contour of the roof but it will do a good job. The only advice I have for you is to be weary of tightening the feet too much as this...

If you can reach back to me on what you plan to use on the roof rack I will be able to send you suggestions on parts that would work on your roof rack.

  • Can a Roof Rack be Installed on Ford Focus With Sunroof?
It is still possible for you to use a roof rack with a sunroof on your 2005 Ford Focus; the only issue may be opening or closing the sunroof if the rack-mounted accessory extends too far underneath the crossbars. Should you be looking for a quality rack, I recommend checking out the SportRack # SR1003, which is a pair of square crossbars; the rack has integrated locks and a weight capacity of 130 lbs. The only thing to keep in mind is that this rack may require the SportRack short-roof...

  • Will SportRack Semi-Custom Roof Rack Fit a 2004 Nissan Frontier King Cab
In order to get the SportRack roof rack # SR1005 to fit your 2004 Nissan Frontier King Cab (extended cab) you will need to use the short roof adapter # SR1116. This leaves the mounts for the rear bar towards the back of the doors but the actual bar will be a little further back and still supported by the roof. Without the adapter the crossbar spread would be too short to properly support roof mounted accessories.
