Install your electric brake controller quickly and easily with this custom wiring adapter. Simply plug one end of the adapter into your brake controller and then plug the other end into the built-in harness beneath your vehicle's dash.
Features:
This adapter plugs into the built-in connector beneath your vehicle's dashboard. To access this connector, first locate the instrument cluster finish panel in the center of you dash, near the driver's side. Carefully pry the panel out and undo the locking tabs to remove the panel. Plug the adaptor into the mating connector in the large gray housing behind the panel.
To install your electric brake controller you need to connect the wiring of the controller to your vehicle. Certain manufacturers offer pre-wired options, typically known as tow packages, wherein these wires are run for you from the dash to the trailer connector on the back of your vehicle. Often, a brake controller wiring harness is included with your tow package. This harness plugs into a port beneath your dash and connects to the four wires of the brake controller. If, however, you have a brake controller with a plug in place of the four loose wires, you can use the Tekonsha adapter.
This adapter requires no hardwiring. It is designed to plug directly into your electric brake controller for the simplest installation possible. Because there are no wires to connect, installation is not permanent. You can unplug and remove your brake controller at any time and securely stow it away.

Just finished installing the P3 brake controller with the harness. All appears well. A bit tricky working the screws with the mounting brackets but all else went fairly smoothly removing the dash trim plate and plugging the harness in. Video showing how to install helped immensely. I added a relay fuse to slot 9 and a fuse to slot 21 in fuse box in engine compartment on top of radiator for the 2009 F150. They came with towing package for truck.
This is my third truck using my prodigy brake controller with the plug in adapter. As in the past the wiring is heavy gauge to match vehicle & installed with ease. I used the prodigy mount bracket to take up space & slid it in factory controller slot. I can unplug it when not in use if I want & interior looks stock. I make a slot in back of dash compartment to feed adapter wire through for easy plug in & out. Product was revived quickly & ordering on etrailer site was a breeze. Would definitely recommend this plug & play adapter
This product does not work with 2021 F-150 or newer. They also charge you shipping to send it back after you find this out even though the website is incorrect. Not the first product I’ve bought here, but it is the last. Checking a forum I found where others had already discovered aftermarket controllers won’t work.
Unfortunately I didn’t find It until I tried looking up installation instructions because nothing on the 2021 F-150 matched what was in the instructions that came with the package OR etrailers instructional video. Nothing like blowing shipping costs both ways and wasting a week in the process.
This item popped up as essential for our Ford F-150 when ordering a Tekonsha Prodigy P3 trailer brake controller. It plugged right in and worked right out of the box.
I Purchased the Tekonsha PRIMUS IQ brake controller and the Wiring adapter specific to my 2014 Ford F150. I am 67 yr old woman. This is my first experience with a brake controller. I watched 2 tutorial videos on etrailer.com then installed and calibrated the unit with no problems. Installation took about 20 minutes from start to finish.
Rank with 4 stars. Reason for not marking excellent is yall send wrong part Ordered Tekonsha 22292 (Ford Brake controller adapter wire/harness). Specific for 2021 f150. Yall sent Tekonsha 3036P (Ford brake control harness) for 2009 f150.
THE WIRING HARNESS MADE THE CONNECTIONS A VERY SIMPLE PROCEDURE
Part plugged right in 2011 f150xlt 3.5EB, you have to go under the dash and reach up and unclip the harness from where it is stored, it is not meant to plug into the exposed trapezoidal plug that is under the dash visible
Tow vehicle plug and wiring adapter mate, controller turns on. Ordered a hydrastar actuator that hopefully will arrive mid May. Can’t say more until order complete, installed, and used. I can say this business has excellent service. Not my first nor last order, thanks folks.
I ordered this for a 2011 F-150 and it fit perfectly, works perfectly, and installed easy. Pretty much plug and play. It has a few different preloaded trailer settings so you can “ball park” the intensity of the braking and adjust from there. I would buy it again.
Changed tow vehicle and needed a new remote brake harness, etrailer had just what I needed. Shipping was fast and instructions were easy to follow.
The adaptor seems to be well built. Works like it is supposed to.
Good price. Excellent customer service. Speedy processing.
I will definitely be purchasing future upgrades/products from etrailer.
Thank you for your good service and kind customer rep. Hard to find good experiences like this nowadays.
I've included a picture of a Tekonsha Voyager that I installed in the area the OEM TBC would be. Its sturdy. It works. Too easy.
Worked great. Very easy to install.
I cut a hole in the back of the dash cubby hole to the right of the steering wheel for the wires to pass through and used adhesive velcro to mount the brake controller in the cubby. The brake controller is held with velcro on the bottom and the sides and does not vibrate or move at all.
Very easy install and the only hole I drilled was in the back of the cubby hole and the brake controller is very easy to reach for braking and adjusting.
I wanted to slide the controller further back in the cubby, but the velcro started sticking early and I left it. It could probably slide back another 1/2" to 3/4". Not much, but would be nicer. I may pull it out in the future to get it seated further back, but the velcro is really strong so I don't want to mess with it right now.
Easy install on my 2010 F 150 XLT. There are 2 possible locations for the trailer wiring harness if your vehicle did not come equipped with the mfg brake control. Consult owners manual. My harness was located below steering colum behind lower dash. I routed my harness to the left side behind the parking brake release lever. You may have to remove the outer sleeve of the factory harness depening on your vehicle. Mounted the mounting bracket with double sided foam tape and predrilled holes before screwing in place. Mounted the Pod brake control and tested. 5 stars!
This connector has been installed in my 2017 Lincoln Navigator for a year now and is working fine. I am able to control all braking functions. 1 minor issue, the instructions tell you to unplug the factory plug and plug in the new connector. Since you cannot use both the factory side of the wiring, I sometimes loose the display that shows what gear I am in when I am in "tow haul mode". I am using the Tekonsha P3
electronic brake control 90195 and am very happy with its operation.
installed on a 2009 F-150 everything was as advertised. It was plug and play. My truck had the wire plug behind the dash so was easy to hook up. I installed it in the hole below the coin holder. To reach the pre-wired plug you have to remove the panel anyway. I don't like any wires showing or anything I might hit with my leg. So did not mount it on the lower dash. You have to pull the plastic box out to unplug the connector. So just cut off the back of the box off and run the connector through the hole and connect to the controller. This way you can remove the controller anytime you want. Also you can see the readout much easier then mounting it on the lower dash. See pics
Part arrived two days early (always a plus). It was easy to install (Thanks YouTube). We upgraded from a Tacoma to F150 to pull our trailer, and needed this part to make the brake controller work on our new truck. Overall took less than 30 minutes start to finish, and we are ready for our camping trip next month without a trip to the RV service department.
Product installed exactly as described and in the videos. The wiring harness plugged right into the plug under my steering wheel. When I got my order confirmation they sent me a few videos on how to install just Incase I had any questions. Product works great and is super easy to use and adjust for my trailer. Highly recommended.
Installed in 2018 F150 Raptor. The power was not available at the plug, and had to be added. See pictures. The video's where good help. I chose to use a 20 amp fuse, close to the battery, this gives less chance of a short, and I can remove the fuse, when I am not towing, to prevent battery drain.
I could of wired this but in a few years time and I'm looking for a broken wire I'd be wishing I'd bought the adapter for my truck, Very well made, fit and forget.
The installation process was fast and easy. All the materials sent were spot on to get the job done.
Thank you!

I couldn't be more satisfied with the Outstanding and Expeditious service I received from etrailer.com. This is my first experience with etrailer.com, I will definitely refer this site as a must use resource for anyone in need of the service and products you provide.
I appreciate the fact that the pigtails are included with the brake box and it's very difficult to try to match them up sometime so thank you for that and I also really appreciated the video because I have never hooked one up in my life but it took me less than five minutes. It took me longer to screw it into the dash than it did to hook it up. So thank you very much. Great product and great service
We own a 2015 Ford F150 SuperCrew, 3.5 EcoBoost with Max Tow package. Of course, equipped like this, the truck came with a factory-installed, integral brake controller. That's good news.
The bad news is that there various internet forums report there to be an unusually high failure rate of these factory controllers. So, being a bit paranoid about being out in the middle-of-nowhere in our truck and travel trailer and suddenly having (a) locked brakes, or (b) no brakes at all, I decided to install a high quality aftermarket controller.
Based on company reputation and prior experience with Tekonsha products, I selected the P3 and proper 'plug and play' wiring harness. Following Tekonsha's instructions as well as vehicle-specific on-line videos, I found the installation to be super easy.
I elected NOT to take the truck to the Ford dealer to have the computer re-flashed for the absence of the factory controller. Now, each time the truck is started, I have to click "OK" to clear the 'TRAILER BRAKE FAULT" message... to me that's no big deal.
Also, when compared side-by-side, the Ford controller seems flimsy and cheap, whereas the P3 has a quality feel, fit and finish.
Wanting the controller to be easy to see and easy to reach, I chose to install the P3 on top of the dash.
So, I am delighted with the Tekonsha P3 and - as always - with etrailer's service.
A perfect connection. Great installation videos furnished.
