Install your electric trailer brake controller quickly and easily with this custom wiring adapter. Simply plug one end of the adapter into your brake controller and then plug the other end into the built-in ports beneath your vehicle's dash.

Note: To illuminate your vehicle and trailer brake lights when you activate the manual override on your brake controller, use in conjunction with the Tekonsha brake controller converter with 7-way adapter (30235-P - sold separately). Required for use in the state of California.
To install your electric brake controller, you need to connect the wiring of the controller to your vehicle. Certain auto manufacturers offer pre-wired options, typically known as tow packages, wherein wiring is run for you from the dash to the trailer connector on the back of your vehicle. When this is done, a port is installed at your dash so that you can easily plug in a brake controller.
This adapter plugs into the ports on your vehicle's built-in brake control wiring harness. The harness is located underneath the dash, to the left of the steering column, and it is taped to another harness near the emergency brake pedal.
No hardwiring is required to install this adapter. After you plug it into the factory port, you simply plug the other end of the adapter directly into your electric trailer brake controller. Because there are no wires to connect, installation is not permanent. You can unplug and remove your brake controller at any time to transfer it to another vehicle or securely stow it away.

There were no specific instructions in the package for my application (2013 Ram 1500). In defense however, the connectors are not interchangeable so there was really no way to connect it wrong. Plenty of extra length wire to work with.
The worst part was getting under the dash!
Very easy plug and play ,worked great.i have it in a ram and my suburban ....with same brake controllers in both.no cut wiring,perfect length...super easy install.

Great customer support during the ordering and installation process. Installation was on a 2014 Ram 1500 using an existing controller.
With the purchase of a new Dodge Ram 1500, I had a difficult time finding a wiring harness that adapts to the new Dodge wiring. I found this great plug in adapter on Etrailer.com and ordered it and a new Tekonsha Prodigy P3 brake controller. Etrailer shipped my order quickly. Before I installed the wiring harness and brake controller, I watched the video on Etrailer; very helpful! Installation was easy! My wiring harness and brake controller have worked just fine! I like the smooth braking afforded by the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 controller much better than the brake controller I had on my previous tow vehicle.A hint for new Ram 1500 buyers without delivered brake controllers: the wiring harness connector on the truck is tucked way under the dash. See Etrailers video! Once you find the harness connectors on your truck, hooking up the harness and brake controller from Etrailer is a snap!
I was very happy with the Tekonsha Custom Wiring adapter I ordered through etrailer. It was good to have the perfect fit for my 2014 Dodge truck. There was no other brake controller in place for reference but the adapter made it easy and it connected to the factory wiring, just as the instructions described. I received quick follow up from etrailer to see if there was any issues. The part arrived promptly and again, was just what I needed. Thanks for the great service and efficiency.

Great! No issues, no complaints.
Plugged directly into my 2014 (Dodge) RAM Tradesman wiring and was easy to set up! I was not happy about having to add the 30235-P Brake Control Converter and 7-Way Adapter Kit required due to California law but did so. This greatly increased the work required, and expense, to complete the install. After having completing it however, the P3 worked great and was easy to set up. I never laid hands on the "manual" brake control lever so, the extra 7-way adapter proved to be superfluous.

The P3 brake controller still works great but I recently pulled a smaller trailer that was not equipped with brakes and found that the 30235-P converter required by California would not allow the brake/turn indicator4-way lights to work. Why? It seems that it was because the unit did not see a brake system on the trailer! I had to crawl back underneath the truck and remove the 30235-P from the circuit and voila now the lights work! I didnt like that but no matter as Im leaving California anyway and will not use it any more.
I bought a Prodigy 2 electric brake controller and cable adapter for my pickup. I read the literature provided and watched the video on the website on how to install it. From the time I opened the box to do the installation until I shut the door on a completed installation was less than 30 minutes. Very satisfied with the product, installation instructions, and fast shipping. etrailer should be everyones first stop for trailer products.

The Prodigy 2 brake controller was installed a year ago pn my Ram 2500 and has worked perfectly from day one. I highly recommend it for anyone towing a trailer.
A simple install. The online videos provided by etrailer.com are fantastic. I use them at work a lot and I finally had a job at home where I could buy the parts from etrailer.com and repay them a little! I installed a controller on a 2013 Dodge 1500. The dash panel just above the park brake release pops out and makes a perfect hole for mounting the controller.

Simply fantastic. Im an RV tech and I installed this brake controller and harness in a neighbors Ram truck. The cubby hole above the park brake release was a perfect spot for it. They love it.
This wire harness for the 2013 Ram. was perfect.. I installed the P2 and wire harness in about 20 min. I had seen an online video which showed the exact location of plug ins, and it was simple... But the best part of this purchase, was the help from everyone at etrailer.com... My order was processed quickly, and followed up by not one, but two employees to make sure I had what I needed... All is good... have not fully understood the adjustments, and sometimes either feels like brake might be dragging a bit, or other times needs a lot of brake pressure to stop truck and trailer... i assume it is a matter of correct adjustment.. but still very happy with the service provided when I placed my original order.

Controller works fantastic on electric brakes on flat bed as well as Electric Hydraulic hybrid brake system on Airstream trailer. Good product and direct plug and play on 2013 Dodge 2500. I had to unplug the factory trailer brake system but this one took its place.

Works as it should and still very pleased.
I am very pleased with my 3023-P harness. But it is just a harness, so not much not to like. The ordering process through the delivery was extremely smooth. The staff at etrailer were extremely helpful, and knowledgeable. I had been given erroneous advice , as to the harness needed by an etrailer competitor. As soon as I called etrailer, I knew I had made the right decision.

Delivered fast and kept up to date on t ransit
The easiest installation ever. Start to finish 10 minutes thats with trailer hookup. Installed mount and controler then hooked up two wires, set controler to trailer type and drove away for a test drive. Everything worked perfectly. New 2014 RAM 1500. Dealer said could not be done, whatever.

John,Did you have the factory installed brake controller, and if so, did you have to disconnect it, or have the dealer do something with the computer to disable it? I just ordered a 2015 RAM 2500 and it comes with a factory installed controller. I am betting the 2014 models are the same, both in the 1500 and 2500, as I think they had the factory installed controller.

received trailer brake and wiring harness as ordered , it was a breeze to put in just as video on website said . also worked exceptionaly well , in my 2013 dodge Ram , I had went to a couple places here in town and they didnt even want to attempt installing a braking system due too the computer needing to be flashed afterwards , that was a bologna the video explained what needed to be ordered and how to install it, it was a snap to do very good product and very knowledgable on etrailer.com part , I highly recomend anyone thinking of ordering one of these to do so!!!!
This cable ended up being the perfect solution for my 2014 RAM 1500's aftermarket electric brake controller - plug-and-play into existing RAM connectors under the dash, easy installation. I discovered the hard way that plug-and-play electric brake controller cables made for pre-2013 RAM 1500's are incompatible with the 2013+ trucks, even though they still can plug right in to the underdash connector. Turns out that the red wire function (typically brake pedal actuation) in that connector has changed so no longer provides the brake actuation signal needed by the aftermarket controller. This new cable has the necessary second connector to pick up brake pedal actuation signal for the brake controller from a second under-dash connector.
EASY INSTALL, KEEPS WORKING.
I used this for a year and it kept working. It was easy to install the base mount. The quick release holder made it easy for me to take the brake controller in and out of my vehicle when I wasn't using it. And, the harness to wire this into my Ram pickup, with step by step instructions, was the perfect fit on the first try.
The Tekonsha plug in wiring harness adapter worked perfectly and took about 3 minutes to install,great product.It let me use the Brake Controller from my previous truck instead of having to buy a complete new unit.

Did your truck have the factory installed brake controller? If so, did you have to have the truck computer reprogrammed after disconnecting it?
This is an awesome Brake controller. Easy to follow installation instructions for wire harness..Quick inline adapters in most cases so very minimal splicing. Great quick release cradle for controller so you can swap between vehicles. Easy to change gain settings for use with different trailers or just different road conditions. I would recommend this product to anybody wanting or needing a brake controller. Love Love Love this product.
When I called customer service about the brake controller and wiring adapter I ordered for my 2014 ram 1500, I was concerned about the possibility of having the computer reprogrammed. The rep I talked to, reassured me that I definitely did NOT have to worry about all that. The controller was so simple to install, just two plug-ins and you're good to go!! Sure enough, after I installed it, which took about 5 mins, It works great, with no worries about the computer system!! I highly recommend etrailer.com for their products and awesome customer service!!
