Hi, there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a quick look at this Thule Replacement Locking Anti-Rattle Knob. This is gonna replace one lock knob for your Thule Easy Mount System on your Thule Apex Bike Rack. And this is gonna fit with the three models of Apex bike racks that you see on the screen there. It's also going to work for your Thule Rain Gutter Foot Pack models that you see on the screen there.
So, if you have any of those models, you can trust this is gonna fit right in place of that original anti-rattle knob. So, it's going to do a great job in place of that original for your Apex bike racks. This will allow you to tighten the rack in your hitch to prevent any rattle and sway. Will work with an inmate bolt with a 1.25 millimeter thread pitch. And this does include the lock plug that can be replaced by a Thule One Key System Lock Core, which is sold separately if you're wanting to get this, make this a locking knob for yourself, and make sure everything's gonna be nice and secure.

I love the smoothness of the lock set and locking knob for gutter-mount racks. As it turns out, I didn't need the knob, just a new lock set. I'm happy regardless as it looks much newer than the others on the car. Probably going to order another to keep a nice matching set on the side of the car. My preferred method of removal for the lock plug is to take the three screws out on the back of the knob and tap it out using a punch and small hammer. Another good way is to use a large pair of wire strippers, with the flat side against the knob and the angled side (the physical stripping part of the pliers) under the plug flange. Gently wiggle up and down on the strippers and it will remove the plug evenly and without chipping the sides.Couldn't beat the prices and shipping was very fast. Thanks, etrailer!

My roof rack is old. The knobs, even though I talked to someone, are the wrong diameter to work with my bolts. I will go to the hardwar store and get different bolts.

My only complaint is that Thule does not make known how this knob attaches to the rack. Other than that service is excellent and quick. You get what you order and they are quality parts.

I wanted to replace my regular knobs on the arms of my Thule bike rack with lockable ones. I already had one extra knob but needed another. When I searched the web I found that there were 2 kinds. One was a cheap imitation with plastic threads and the other was the real deal - a Thule replacement part. etrailer had multiple images of what I was looking for so I was certain I was going to be getting a Thule knob with the metal threaded core and at a very reasonable price to boot.
I also needed a lock cylinder that would not only fit the knob but one that was keyed to the other knobs I had and etrailer had it. It was very convenient to be able to purchase both items from the same place and on top of it all I received the items faster than I expected.
The reason why it was important to get a knob with a metal core is because I needed to access the inside of the knob and exchange the nut it comes with with one that had a different thread and matched my bolts. Now I can not only lock the rack to the rear mounted spare on my Wrangler, but I can also lock the adjustable arms to prevent them from being stolen - all using the same key.

Wow. This was exactly what I needed. It is a perfect replacement for the original knob from my 30-year old roof rack. The threads on the original knob were stripped. This one fit perfectly and I was able to insert the old lock into the new one. I did have some difficulty removing the plastic plug from the new knob and had to disassemble the knob it and force the plug out from the inside. A minor inconvenience for a replacement knob that is priced so reasonably. Thanks to etrailer for keeping these old parts available and giving years of life to old bike racks.

The locking Nut on my Thule Canoe Rack would not tighten. I found the exact locking Nut I needed at etrailer.com. It was easy to order and worked perfectly on my Thule Canoe Rack when received. I was very happy with my experience at etrailer.com.

These are the weak link in the canoe rack that mounts on the rain gutters on a Jeep. This is the second time I’ve ordered replacements. The plastic part strips easily when tightened.
