The Thule Cargo Basket part # TH859XT with the extension part # TH8591XT will fit your 2014 Jeep Cherokee with factory crossbars. How Tall is the Thule Canyon XT Roof Cargo Basket 859XT
The 6" height that you referenced for the Thule Canyon XT # TH859XT is actually the overall height. This doesn't include the mounting hardware though. As long as you have more than 6" of clearance between your roof rack and garage opening the Canyon XT will fit! Whenever you do go to remove the basket it is actually quite easy.
