Jake: Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at. I'm going to show you how to use these repair pliers made by Titan Chain. They're going to be used to repair any links that are broken or damaged in your chains. So here we have our replacement cross link and to get it in place, you simply loop it through your chain. You do want to make sure you have it in the correct link on the side chain.
Now we can take our tool and in these teeth right here, we're going to put each of these prongs. For more leverage, you can set the handle of the tool on your workbench or on your table, whichever you're using. Put that in there and then pry down until the link closes up. So you can see there, we've got our link nice and close up. Now I'll go ahead and do the same for our other link and the other side of the chain. You'll notice this 13 and a half inch long handle is going to give us more than enough leverage to be able to pry those prongs down into place.
Along with that, it'll have a nice rubber handle, so if you're using it in a wet or snowy condition, you're going to have the grip you need to be able to tighten down your chains. So you may have noticed this portion up here is going to be the portion where you're going to clamp down on your new chains, but for your old chains to remove it, they're going to have a pry system on either side. We'll go ahead and show you how to use that.So the pry system is designed to be able to pull the links apart to be able to take off old or damaged chains. What you want to do is line those two points up, take your link and slide that into the chain. Now what you can do is you can set your handle on your table or work bench and pry up.
This is going to pry your chain apart so that you can get your linkage out. So you can see how these pliers are designed to work with chains to be able to put them in place and take them off. You can imagine how difficult it would be to fix a set of chains with a standard set of pliers because of this leverage that you get with the Titan Chain snow tire chain pliers compared to a regular set of pliers. This style of pliers is going to be meant for chains up to 5.5 millimeters in diameter. If you're looking for a larger set of pliers, we do have other sets available such as this one here. This set of tire chain pliers is going to work for tire chains up to a half inch in diameter.
So with all that being said, these larger pliers are going to work for your smaller chain, but they're also going to be a lot heavier and bulkier to carry around in your vehicle. That's why I like these smaller ones, so that you can just throw them under your backseat or in a toolbox and they're there whenever you need them. With that being said, once you have your chains repaired, you're ready to throw them back on your vehicle and hit the road.

Works great the right tool for the job
Got a late-evening call for help to get a couple Bull Elk out of the mountains last fall. We got permission from a land owner to drive in through their property to get closer to the miles-deep public land where the animals had been harvested. The drive in was through 6” of newly fallen powder but, as temperatures rose and snow continued, the steep mountain-side two track became treacherously slippery. Having just received my new chains for my new-to-me truck, we chained up the front and engaged the rear locker, easily “walking” the relieved and exhausted hunters and their two 7-800 lb Bulls out of the mountains! The chains are superb and performed beyond my expectations! Thank you again Etrailer for a great product, fair pricing and quick delivery!
Always wanted these. Will be very handy
These extra chain links and chain pliers were perfect for the job. Needed to extend snowblower chains to fit the tires. Everything went together perfectly, with no trouble. It's nice to know you can still get quality parts to fill the gaps that make your life easier.
