Video Transcript for Titan Brake Actuator T4395100 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at part number T4395100. This is the replacement master cylinder assembly. This replacement assembly is going to fit Titan model 60 and Aero 7500 trailer brake actuators. It's designed for drum brakes only. You can see here everything that it's going to come with. We're going to go over just the components.

It's going to come with a master cylinder. Nice, heavy duty design. It's got the rubberized boot here on the end of it. If we remove that boot on the inside you're going to be able to see that it does come with the snap ring, the spring, and the seals. All of that is going to already be in place and again, located behind the boot.

It's also going to come with your gasket. It's going to be this right here, it's going to come with the master cylinder cover. You're going to get the orifice connector, goes into the threaded portion here at the back of your brake line. It's going to come with the hardware. You're going to get your four hex bolts. Those are going to measure 3/4 of an inch long by 1/4 inch in diameter, and you're going to get your 1/4 inch lock washers.

Has the diaphragm style filler cap, and just a quick tech tip, one of the ways to tell if the master cylinder is designed for disc or drum brakes is to simply take a paper clip and you can straighten it out. If we push it into this area back here, if it only goes in about an inch and a half that means that it's designed for drum brakes only. If the paper clip was to go in about three inches, then that means that it would be designed for disc brakes. That's going to do it for our review of part number T4395100. This is the replacement master cylinder assembly from Titan.

Good product at a good price. Got it installed and the system bled (the old brake fluid looked like thin mud coming out!) and everything works well. Install was easy, with the exception that the old master cylinder that I removed looks to have been just a hair shorter than this one that I got from etrailer. The new one was a tiny bit too tall for it to slide in the back of the actuator. I ended up removing the actuator from the tongue of the trailer to get the master cylinder bolted onto it. With the four master cylinder bolts torqued down it fit fine and the actuator easily went back into place on the tongue. I do wish it had a metal cap like the old one that it replaced, but that is not a huge deal. I hope the plastic one holds up.

Comments
The plastic master cylinder cap seems to leak. Other than that, its fine.

product works as promised. it appears to be a direct replacement but is very tight getting put back under original mounting bracket. My bracket is welded in place. It may be because of the new gasket (is thicker). I used a hammer and punch to bend the metal down a little on the trailer itself so the new master cylinder could slide into place. No other problems.

This is the direct replacement for my Titan hitch. It appears to have an anodized exterior coating that should resist rust.

I ordered the brake actuator replacement for the Titan Model 60, paid extra for the UPS ground shipping and had the part in 6 days! You must take apart the brake actuator from the hitch as not to damage the gasket when installing the part. Had it installed in 15 minutes. Another 15 to bleed the drum brakes and all is well. LGB (lets go boating) See pics

I purchased master cylinder for a Titan model 60 and was easy to purchase from etrailer and i received it in the amount of time that was on the order. everything that was needed was included to change the part. I rate etrailer excellent because the order was easy and i received the part with no problems. The master cylinder was the exact part as the original

- T4395100
by:

A bit bigger than the Dico it replaced (exact manufacturer and part number, go figure). Had to give the tongue some encouragement to get the new part to fit (certainly not etrailer's fault). Would have liked torque specs for cover. etrailer was fantastic. Will definitely use again. Ordered on a Saturday, received ship notification on Sunday and part delivered on Tuesday. Unheard of - thanks George!

First of all Ashley was an excellent representative for your company. After I ordered my part and submitted everything i noticed I clicked on wrong part number. I called and talked to Ashley and she quickly straightened it out for me. Now the parts were excellent also. they bolted right together on my 26 year old trailer. One small negative was the cap was made of plastic and threads crossed easily. I tried to use my old cap but it was a different thread also. So I just had to make the plastic one work.

I gave this product 5 stars because of the quality . The only problem I had was that the lid would not fit the opening on my trailer and I had to reuse my old lid. Again this part is for a different trailer and so no fault of the part or etrailer. I am completely satisfied with the part and the customer service I received prior to ordering. I feel that etrailer support team went above and beyond in an attempt to help me find much needed parts. Many thanks, Mike

Excellent product for the money! Parts and pieces were exactly as described and the quality of everything was exceptional through the installation process. Let's hope that continues through the use and life of the product. Shipping times and customer service were also top notch! Thanks etrailer!

  • Can 1600 PSI Pressure from Actuator be Used with Drum Brake Assemblies
Brake actuators designed for drum brakes typically produce around 1,000 psi pressure at most, while disc brake actuators will produce closer to the 1,600-psi pressure that you mentioned in your question. I do not recommend using a disc brake actuator for drum brakes, as the higher pressure could blow out the wheel cylinders of a drum brake assembly.
