Video Transcript for Adjustable Shank XL for TorkLift SuperHitch Everest Weight Distribution: The Breakdown

Today we're going to review part number TLM9011. This is the TorkLift Adjustable Shank XL for the TorkLift SuperHitch Everest weight distribution, has a 20,000-pound weight capacity. This extra-long sturdy shank right here will slide into your TorkLift SuperHitch Dual Receiver. This provides a mounting point for your TorkLift Everest weight distribution head. The adjustable design right here with the holes right here allows for a drop or a rise. I have it right now in the drop position.

If you flip this over, you can put it in the rise position. This will fit whatever application you need. These height adjustment holes are 1-1/2" apart center-to-center. This shank is a black powder coated steel, which is very sturdy and corrosion-resistant. Now the hitch pins that are used to hold this into place are hitch locks. They are sold separately on our website.

The application on this is for SuperHitch 2" by 2" dual trailer hitch receivers. In other words, this would slide into the dual hitch receiver. The weight capacity, again, is 20,000 pounds, has a 2,000-pound tongue weight capacity. The overall length from here to here, I'm going to try to give you a measurement on this. As you can see, it's going to be right at 12".

The shank height, which is going to be from the very bottom to the very top, I'm going to try to show you that. Put that at the bottom. If we pull up 1:39, you can see it's going to be right at 17-1/2". These bolt hole diameters right here are going to be 1". Now I do want to make a note that this is designed to work exclusively with the TorkLift's 20,000-pound weight distribution system. It comes with the 1" holes instead of industry standard 3/4" holes, so these holes are only designed to be used with TorkLift's own weight distribution system.

That should do it for the review on part number TLM9011, the TorkLift Adjustable Shank XL for TorkLift SuperHitch Everest weight distribution system. .

  • Which Sway Control System For 14000lb Trailer With 2100lb Tongue Weight
That is a lot of tongue weight for a 14k lb trailer! You are right at the top of the normal range of 10-15% of the trailer weight. For you setup I recommend the Tuson Electronic Sway Control System for Electric Trailer Brakes - 1 to 4 Axles # 335TSC-1000 which uses utilizes your trailer's electric brakes to correct sway when it occurs. I included a video of the Tuson # 335TSC-1000 for you to take a look at. If you are looking to add a weight distribution system I recommend the TorkLift...

  • Recommended Weight Distribution System for a 15,600 GTW Car Hauler
To determine the correct Weight Distribution (WD) system for your application you will first need to find what your Total Tongue Weight (TTW) is. Your TTW can be found by adding the Tongue Weight (TW) of your fully loaded and ready-to-tow trailer along with the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. You will then want to pick a system that has a TW range that your TTW falls in the middle of. Keep in mind that your trailer TW should be 10-15% of your loaded trailer...

  • Which Torklift Weight Distribution Shank Works with Reese WD Heads
I checked with Torklift and the # TLM9000 and # TLM9001 are designed to fit the standard weight distribution systems like your Reese. It has the 3/4 inch holes and the distance between them of 1-1/4 inches. Some of the Torklift shanks use larger diameter holes and would not work with a Reese head but this one does. The part # TLM9011 is an example of a shank that would not work with a Reese head.

To get that high of a capacity weight distribution system for your 2022 Ford F-350 Super Duty, I recommend removing your factory hitch and installing the TorkLift SuperHitch Magnum Trailer Hitch Receiver item # TLF1002-30. • Can Brackets for TorkLift SuperHitch Everest be Cut and Welded to Larger Trailer Frame
I reached out to my contact at TorkLift and he said that the brackets for the TorkLift SuperHitch Everest Weight Distribution System # TLWD1000 measure just under 4" when it comes to width. He did say that if the brackets don't fit your trailer frame then you can indeed cut off that smaller "ear" that sits on the inside of the frame and weld the brackets on. Attached is a photo he sent me showing where the welds need to be, and they would need to be done by a professional. Please note...

Yes. In order to bumper tow a trailer of that size and use a TorkLift Everest system like the # TLWD1000 you'll need to remove the factory hitch and install a dual receiver like the TorkLift SuperHitch Magnum Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class V - 2-1/2" and 2" # TLD1111-30. If the loaded tongue weight (TW) of your trailer is around 2,300 lbs then any weight distribution (WD) system that is rated for a max of 1,200 lbs TW will not be strong enough to help out at all. Check your TW to ensure that it is 10-15% of the loaded weight of your trailer. If it isn't you need to move stuff around until you achieve the 10-15% area. • Recommended Weight Distribution System For Dump Trailer With I-beam Frame
The best way to determine what system will work for you is to know what your total tongue weight is. This receiver will accommodate trailers up to 20,000lbs with a maximum tongue weight of 2,500lbs. With a weight distribution hitch it increases to 30,000lbs of trailer or 3,000lbs of tongue weight. • Weight Distribution for 15,000 Pound Amped Trailer and 2012 Ram 3500
To choose a weight distribution system you will need to go by the total tongue weight of the set up. I do have a solution for you but unfortunately you do have to use a TorkLift XL Shank like part # TLM9011 along with the SuperHitch on your tow vehicle to be able to use the Everest Weight Distribution System # TLWD1000. If 15,000 lbs is the GVWR (gross vehicle weight rating) of your trailer or that is the most it will weigh when you are towing it then you can potentially use the Strait-Line # RP66075 instead.
