Video Transcript for TorkLift Weight Distribution TLM9011 Review

Today we're going to review part number TLM9011. This is the TorkLift Adjustable Shank XL for the TorkLift SuperHitch Everest weight distribution, has a 20,000-pound weight capacity. This extra-long sturdy shank right here will slide into your TorkLift SuperHitch Dual Receiver. This provides a mounting point for your TorkLift Everest weight distribution head. The adjustable design right here with the holes right here allows for a drop or a rise. I have it right now in the drop position.

If you flip this over, you can put it in the rise position. This will fit whatever application you need. These height adjustment holes are 1-1/2" apart center-to-center. This shank is a black powder coated steel, which is very sturdy and corrosion-resistant. Now the hitch pins that are used to hold this into place are hitch locks. They are sold separately on our website.

The application on this is for SuperHitch 2" by 2" dual trailer hitch receivers. In other words, this would slide into the dual hitch receiver. The weight capacity, again, is 20,000 pounds, has a 2,000-pound tongue weight capacity. The overall length from here to here, I'm going to try to give you a measurement on this. As you can see, it's going to be right at 12".

The shank height, which is going to be from the very bottom to the very top, I'm going to try to show you that. Put that at the bottom. If we pull up 1:39, you can see it's going to be right at 17-1/2". These bolt hole diameters right here are going to be 1". Now I do want to make a note that this is designed to work exclusively with the TorkLift's 20,000-pound weight distribution system. It comes with the 1" holes instead of industry standard 3/4" holes, so these holes are only designed to be used with TorkLift's own weight distribution system.

That should do it for the review on part number TLM9011, the TorkLift Adjustable Shank XL for TorkLift SuperHitch Everest weight distribution system. .

  • Which Torklift Weight Distribution Shank Works with Reese WD Heads
I checked with Torklift and the # TLM9000 and # TLM9001 are designed to fit the standard weight distribution systems like your Reese. It has the 3/4 inch holes and the distance between them of 1-1/4 inches. Some of the Torklift shanks use larger diameter holes and would not work with a Reese head but this one does. The part # TLM9011 is an example of a shank that would not work with a Reese head.

  • Weight Distribution Hitch for 35-foot Toy Hauler with Tongue Weight Near 2000-lbs
The key to selecting a properly-rated weight distribution system, one that will deliver the correction required without resulting in a jumpy or erratic ride quality, is to determine the trailer's tongue weight when it is fully loaded with all toys, equipment, supplies, etc, just as it will be when you hit the road. A system that is too soft will not deliver the weight re-distribution to your tow vehicle's front end; a system that is too stiff can result in odd handling characteristics,...

  • Recommended Weight Distribution System For Dump Trailer With I-beam Frame
The best way to determine what system will work for you is to know what your total tongue weight is. The total tongue weight is the tongue weight of your fully-loaded-ready-to-tow trailer added to the weight of any cargo you place behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. You will then want to find a system where your total tongue weight falls near the middle of the tongue weight range for the system. Getting a system that is too small will be useless, but getting a system that is too big...

  • Can Brackets for TorkLift SuperHitch Everest be Cut and Welded to Larger Trailer Frame
I reached out to my contact at TorkLift and he said that the brackets for the TorkLift SuperHitch Everest Weight Distribution System # TLWD1000 measure just under 4" when it comes to width. He did say that if the brackets don't fit your trailer frame then you can indeed cut off that smaller "ear" that sits on the inside of the frame and weld the brackets on. Attached is a photo he sent me showing where the welds need to be, and they would need to be done by a professional. Please note...

  • Compatibility of TorkLift SuperHitch Everest Weight Distribution With a Boat Trailer
Yes, the TorkLift SuperHitch Everest Weight Distribution System # TLWD1000 can be used with a boat trailer for a 40' boat. The trailer must have a A-Frame tongue as there is not a pole tongue adapter available with the weight rating you require. You only need to ensure the boat and trailer are within the 1,500-3,000lbs of tongue weight and under 30,000lbs of total trailer weight. The brackets are designed to fit up to a 3" box steel frame or they can be welded to a I-Beam frame to hold...

  • What Hitch Ball to Use with TorkLift SuperHitch Magnum for 30,000 lb Weight Rating
To be able to achieve the max 30,000 lbs towing/3,000 lb tongue weight rating of the TorkLift SuperHitch Magnum Trailer Hitch Receiver # TLC1205-30 on your 2006 Chevy Silverado you actually need to use TorkLift SuperHitch Everest Weight Distribution (WD) System # TLWD1000. The Everest only comes with the WD head, arms, and clamps so you also need either the adjustable shank # TLM9010 (12-1/2" length) or # TLM9011 (17-1/2" length) as well as the 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # C40085. Yes. In order to bumper tow a trailer of that size and use a TorkLift Everest system like the # TLWD1000 you'll need to remove the factory hitch and install a dual receiver like the TorkLift SuperHitch Magnum Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class V - 2-1/2" and 2" # TLD1111-30. This dual hitch receiver provides the support needed to tow a trailer with that tongue weight and GVWR. In addition to the new hitch receiver for your vehicle, the SuperHitch Magnum does not come with a hitch...

Keep in mind that the TW of your trailer needs to be 10-15% the weight of your loaded trailer. If you aren't going to be towing a larger trailer than you would have with your old truck you could just swap out the shanks to allow you to use your existing weight distribution hitch with the new truck; you'd want to use the Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank - 2-1/2" Hitch - 10" Rise/6" Drop # EQ90-02-4900, which is...

  • Weight Distribution System for 16k lbs Enclosed Car Hauler
I have two recommendations depending on the tongue weight of your trailer when it is fully loaded. The total tongue weight is the loaded tongue weight of the trailer (typically 10-15% of the trailer) as well as any cargo behind the rear axle of your Ram 2500. If you are closer to the 10% side of that scale I recommend the Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control item # RP66075.
