Today we're going to be taking a look at the Tow Ready 4-Flat Universal Mounting Bracket, part number 118149. This is a bracket mount that's going to clamp around your four-way connector and zip tie around your trailer hitch or vehicle bumper to provide a sturdy fixed location for your wiring. Here's what our four-pole bracket's going to look like once we get it installed. It's a nice clean look. Everything's provided that we'll need to get it mounted in place here. It's just going to give us secure location.
In this case, kind of tucked in a way a little bit to keep it maybe out of some of the elements and things like that. Now when ready for use, all you have to do is just pull your cap off the end there. Easy to do. When you're done, just slide your cap back on. Clean up the look of the truck so we don't have the wires hanging down here and running the risk of potentially hanging those on something or dragging them down the road. Now to do our installation, we're going to find our four-pole trailer connector.
As you can see, the reason we use something like this bracket is right now we just kind of get it twisted and spun around here. There's not a lot of rhyme or reason to how we can connect this. What we're going to be able to do is mount this up here in a nice secure location. We don't have to worry about this hanging down and potentially getting snagged on something or maybe bouncing down the road behind us, which I'm sure somebody has seen. And then it just kind of grinds off the end of it ...
so gets it up nice, high and secure. Now to install, we'll take our top side. This is going to be the side that's got the grooves that run down. Those are going to space our wires. As you can see our dust cap, the cover for that, it's got a little notch for it to fit into. Bring in the lower portion of our cover.
That's going to click in the two notches up there and we'll bring it around and click it in here on the other side, just like that. Now let's bring in our Philip screws. We'll tighten those down. These screws are provided for you so you won't have to worry about having them or supplying them. You see how there's still a little wiggle and a little play on our plug here To cure that, we've got a set of screw right here at the bottom, and then you'll see nice good solid mounting position there. All we have to do is determine where we want it to be positioned. We have two long zip ties which are going to be provided. We want those to go right up through the slots in the plug. We go around our hitch. It's going around when we started then we'll tighten them both down. Now they're good and secure. Let's just trim off our excess here in the zip ties. Now this is going to leave us with a little bit of excess four-pole wire, so what we'll do is just bring it over. Just kind of gather it up right there on top of the hitch and we'll use a zip tie. This one was not provided. The other two were, this one was not. We'll use that to just kind of keep that nice and bundled up there, out of the way. And that's going to do it for our Tow Ready 4-Flat Universal Mounting Bracket, part number 118149. .

Plastic mount bracket for 4-pole trailer connector zip ties around your trailer hitch or mounts to vehicle bumper. Provides a sturdy, fixed location to easily connect your trailer wiring.I used this to modify my Jetta Sportwagen hitch setup (purchased from Etrailer.com) to no longer need to open the rear hatch for wiring. Cut my 4-pin wiring harness, slipped it through the same grommet that the power lead ran through and spliced back together. It looks and functions great! Thanks Etrailer.com for all your fantastic products!
This is the second one of these Mounting brackets I have purchased. The first over two years ago is working very well on my wife's car. This one I will install on my Travel Trailer for towing a small fishing boat or ATV. With the mounting bracket firmly holding the 4-flat wiring harness I can "one hand" the plug in with no difficulty. Dealing with etrailer.com is a breeze, actually I have already made another order since receiving this mounting bracket.
The 4 pin plug holder worked great. I did not have many mounting options so I fastened it to the hitch tube with the zip ties.
Used with the Curt T-connector wiring harness. The bracket would not stay shut, the screws were too far back. The dust cover on the harness was too large I believe. I gave it a couple rounds of electric tape. It did give a very clean install.
Doesn’t fit or attach to frame of hitch as the frame is hidden inside the bumper.
I'm quite pleased with the 4-flat plug holder that I received from Etrailer. It holds the plug firmly and was easy to install. It has 4 plastic tabs that snap the 2pc. clam-shell holder together and two tiny screws that keep it together. It also has a allen-wrench set-screw to put tension on the plug to keep it firmly in place. There are zip-ties that can be used to go around the hitch cross-bar w/the option of installing horizontal or vertically depending on the space you are working with or configuration that works best for you. Though it is not set up to attach by screws (not advised to ever screw into cross bar) you could easily modify this w/ a couple of sheet metal screws or rivets. In my eyes, this product is a good value.
Products were just as described and shipped very quickly. I had trouble with the installation so called Customer Service. They provided truly excellent information - very clear, helpful, and took their time helping me out. Highly recommend.
Easy to use and makes for a clean nice finish. Much better than having the 4-flat run out of your rear hatch or trunk. I say that because I used the factory rubber gaskets that ran wiring from under my car into my spare tire bay to run my 4-flat wiring to my hitch. Fixed up the gaskets with some gasket maker silicone looks amazing.
I received the product after I received the hitch I ordered a few days later. This is not a complaint, but an oddity. The hitch came from your location to an Illinois depot and then straight to my address, but this little Bracket went from your facility just outside of St. Louis, then to Kansas City, then to some burg in the middle of Ohio, then to Indianapolis, and finally to my house on the west side of IN. This caused me no issues as I waited until the weather was good to install the hitch therefore had the part before I needed it. I just though it was a " Long, Strange Trip." I like the product and my friends do too.
Does what it says it will do. This was the best option, I think, for my particular wiring needs. I made my own bracket to mount this and hung it from the round crossbar of the Curt hitch using stainless steel hose clamps. This is on a 2013 BMW X5.
Installed in 4 -5 minutes while installing new Draw-Tite tow bar and Tow Ready One Connector wiring harness. Works really well, on vacation hooked and unhooked trailer twice a day, fast and positive, fits snugly. On '93 Honda Pilot had to mount pointing downward, I like that attitude for one hand plug and unplug.
I wanted some way to mount the electrical harness next to the hitch and this fit the bill. I wasn't able to mount it to the hitch so I screwed it to the lip of the bumper. I've been using it for a year now and have had no problems.
Easy installation and works like a charm. It was exactly what I was expecting to purchase. Would buy again!
Great idea. But could not use for my application so I had to return it.
The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is because I haven't tested the device yet. I really love the ease of installation! Very well done. The connectors fit perfectly. The cables had a good length (not too long, not too short). Vendor provided the grounding screw, all the necessary tie wraps, the double-sided tape, and good instructions. I recommend this product. I haven't been able to test it yet unfortunately. I purchased the Mounting bracket and the 4-Pole connector with wiring harness. See pictures.
Very easy clean way to install 4 pin co nnector
Easy to attach and positions the connector very nicely.
Definitely not universal - my 4 flat connector did not fit into the mounting bracket!! Also, I had to buy longer zip-ties to fit the Jeep's bar....
I highly recommend etrailer for your towing needs. Ordered a Curt hitch and wiring kit for my 2005 RX 330. The price was right and the shipping was fast. Watched installation videos linked to the product. Hitch install was super easy and quick. The wiring kit install was time consuming for me, but the tutorial video was a great reference. Overall a smooth installation that went better than I expected
This is a great way to mount the trailer wiring.
Just what the doctor ordered to keep light connections neat and secure.
Product Review: Fit great. U-tube videos helped. Made a little bracket to hold the coupling. I also bought some wire loam and fished the wires through the frame
It would have been a 5 star but I wish I would have upgraded to the 2piece metal mounting bracket. The wiring was a very easy install, overall a great product!
Hitch mounted without issue or any modification with all bolt holes lining up perfectly! Very good quality !
