The hose clamp is used to secure this long bracket to the trailer hitch. The bracket provides a sturdy place to attach the connector specific mounting bracket (Piece 2 of 2).At 6 1/2 inches, the "long" mounting bracket is too long. The 3 1/2 "short" bracket is too short. I needed 5 1/2 length, so I used a hacksaw to cut the longer bracket and drilled new holes. Easier than I expected, about 15-20 minutes work. I've attached before photos showing the fine previous workmanship, along after photos of my remount.
The bracket assembly was packaged inside a larger box containing the trailer hitch that I ordered. The hitch box was damaged and the bracket was missing on the original delivery. I called etrailer customer service and they sent replacements immediately. I would strongly suggest packing the smaller items in a separate box to eliminate this issue. The bracket met all expectations and was thicker then expected. Customer Service, Ordering, delivery, and communication were outstanding from etrailer.
I needed one more 90 deg bend to make this bracket useful on my Palisade, to where the 5-pin plug was in a good position for repeated insertions/disconnects facing toward the rear of the vehicle just under the bumper.. I added the bend myself and then the bracket worked very well.
The universal mounting bracket installed without a problem. My rounded hitch posed a slight problem for this model, though. I ended up placing a zip-tie to the backside of the bumper to try to keep it from falling down. Otherwise, it is still working great one year in even with deeper-than-average snow last winter.
I bought the long bracket since I planned on adding a couple of bends to it. The bracket is something like 12 ga. steel so I had a metal shop make the bends. The picture shows how it mounted on the 2-1/2 in. square tube crossmember. I was very pleased with the result. Just make sure you have adequate clearance for the square tube when you make the bends if you mount it this way. Otherwise you'll have to throw it away and start over.
All of the products we ordered from etrailer.com fit perfectly and were easy to install. We have enjoyed trouble free service from the products for a year now and will purchase from etrailer again should the need arise.
Great item - saved me from drilling directly into the hitch. The threaded clamp clicks out of the way to quickly feed the bulk of the wire through, then click it back into position and use a drill with socket attachment to tightly secure it. Rock solid install.
Worked well enough. I had to bend 90 degrees modifying the part for my hitch application due to the bumper alignment but it still did the job nicely.
Yep, got the package yesterday, and it's perfect. It's exactly what I should have ordered in the first place.
Even with the long bracket, the space between the back of the plug and the hitch looks like it's gonna be a little tight, but I think I can make it work just fine.
I have everything I need now to get this completed, and to do it so it's a professional grade result. Now I just have to get out there and do it... when it warms up a bit more.
Re: the returned item.... I checked with USPS and it would have cost me more than the RMA label you provided to use UPS.
So I just used the label you sent me. UPS tracking indicates it arrived there last Friday.
I can't tell you how much I appreciate your help. You made getting this right a very simple and easy breezy deal.
This mounting system did not work with my trailer hitch.
Makes wiring look finished.
I have used you a few times and I am never disappointed. Your install videos are a blessing!
I installed on my 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee within 5 minutes.I've searched many websites, and this one offers the best price, with cheap shipping and handling. I received the product in perfect condition, in what seems like 3 days after placing the order. The mounting bracket is very sturdy, and doesn't seem like it will bend or break, unless you purposely try to. I will highly recommend this to anyone.
Worked like a champ easy install one year later still a solid mounting bracket would buy again
This bracket was a good fit when clamped to the E98844 trailer hitch to hold the 7 way plug included in the ETBC7 install kit. Car is a 2015 Toyota Highlander.
Good product. Installed it on 08 Odyssey Reese class lll trailer hitch. Make sure to get the 6.5" bracket when installing larger connectors such as 7 way in order to fit the wiring harness. I'm also impressed with the customer service.. very knowable, helpful and friendly. Looking forward doing business here again soon. Thanks Etrailer
This item fits perfectly & saves the time & cause for fabrication to finish an otherwise, lengthy project.i strongly recommend it's purchase for mounting electrical plugs.
Product is well made. I like that it had the dimensions on your website. I checked my application and knew that the shorter version would be too short so I went with this one knowing it may be a little long. After I received it and checked it was a little too long so I made a bracket to clamp it on the tow bar. Everything worked out well and it very sturdy.
Hose clamp is a little funky.
This is the third one I have installed and all have fit perfectly. I would highly recommend this company.
It worked great. This bracket was used for a light system in the front grill of my truck.
The no drill mount bracket needs to be cut and bent to size which etrailer tells the buyer. This requires finding a fabrication shop with a metal break to obtain the correct size and shape. These shops are not easy to find even in a big city. The bracket is too heavy duty to use a vise and hack saw to shape.
I really love this bracket. I put a wrap of rubber around the hitch bar to keep it in place
