Video Transcript for Trailer Valet XL Drill Attachment Replacement Review

What's up everybody, Adam here with etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Trailer Valet Drill Attachment. So, this is gonna come with all of your Trailer Valet jacks and dollies, but it can also be used with your 5X Trailer Valet as well. It's gonna be a trailer mover. So, you can use this just to make it a lot quicker. Comes with it, but if you lose it, you can grab a replacement here, but this is gonna work with any drill that has a 3/8 drive, or a 1/2 inch drive.

This, it'll just insert into there, you can tighten it up. And we're ready to go. This is gonna work with any 3/4 inch hex drives on your trailer jack. So, if you have one like that, that's not a Trailer Valet, it will work, and we don't recommend that you use a corded drill with this, nor do we recommend you use an impact drill. So this is gonna make really quick and easy work.

If you're in a hurry, or you just want to work a little smarter, not harder, this is gonna get it done a lot quicker than just cranking it by yourself. I think this is basically a necessity for any type of jack you may have. If it works, awesome. If you wanna upgrade and get these features, go ahead and grab a Trailer Valet. This is what's on my trailer because it works.

So, if you lost it or you're just spending too much time cranking down on your jack. You can go ahead and grab this here at etrailer. If you lost it, we got you covered. And that'll do it for a look at the Trailer Valet drill attachment..

so far this unit looks to be great and exactly what I needed. Since I am getting older I am trying to do everything I can to make my RV'ing and trailer life easier. I pull a cargo trailer behind my 5th wheel. The trailer Valet will allow me to hitch the 2 up much easier. It also allows me to park my 5th wheel in my back yard and my cargo trailer next to it without having to be hooked up to my truck. etrailer recommends using the low gear to start and I can confirm that. There is a little bit of getting used to driving and steering it. I do recommend using your drill and the Socket that is purchased separately. Makes it a lot easier. I will be using mine as a permanent trailer jack. I think this will be fine

I park our Big Tex 18' car transporter trailer facing inward in its parking place (ie, ramps at the back) so I can drive our little sports car directly off. But then, of course, if I want to trailer the car somewhere, I have to turn it around to hitch on. This was a real pain, impossible for me to do by myself. The 5X Trailer Mover works great, I can park and move the trailer myself (turns out, even with the car loaded, in my case...my total weight is about 4400 lbs loaded). The 5X unit is very heavy duty, it weighs over 50 lbs. etrailer did a great job, package arrived very quickly, and they sent an email in case I had any issues. You wouldn't go wrong with this product.

Works great. Make sure to push the spring loaded ball bearing in when attaching to the trailer valet for use. You do have to push the button in so the socket will go on all the way on the drive mechanism

- TVDA
by:

It's a chuck. Way over priced, but gets the job done. A bit of buyer's remorse when you see what you are getting for the price tag. That being said, etrailer was a good discount from the manufacturer's site.

For my purposes this part was worthless. It burned out my drill. The hand crank may be alot of work but it works much better.

Comments
The drill feature is designed to be used with the trailer valet on flat ground only otherwise it will burn out the drill.

There was already one as part of the contents of the Valet which did not indicate it was part of the contents until I opened the box. So I have ended up with an extra attachment.

When this package arrived it was damaged and the part was missing. I contacted etrailer and they immediately sent me out the replacement. I have done business with etrailer in the past and have always been impressed by the quality of their products and now I’m also so impressed by their customer service!! It’s rare to find that in today’s marketplace. Thank you etrailer!!

I have an extremely narrow area that I cannot back up my boat between the side of my house and fence. My truck cannot make the turn required and it is slightly uphill. With the drill attachment and my 18 volt brush less drill moving the boat into place using the Trailer Valet is an easy task that I could not do without this device. It was the deciding factor that allowed me to purchase the boat.

- TVDA
by:

Nice addition to the Trailer Valet so I don't need to crank the handle. But not hugely necessary - the crank works fine with the two modes (slow & "fast"). The gearing of the Valet is a pretty good compromise between size and amount of cranking needed to move the trailer. I keep a battery powered Ryobi drill in the truck with the Valet to use when squeezing the trailer into a tight spot.

- TVDA
by:

Did not work as advertised, my incline is less than 1%, my tongue weight is 600 lbs and trailer weight is 6000lbs All the valet would do was spin it’s wheels I would like to return the valet and get my money back as it is no use to me

- TVDA
by:

The drill attachment for the Trailer Valet Makes a fairly easy task even easier. If you have a Trailer Valet do yourself a favor and get the drill attachment believe me you won't regret it. It works great on ramps, and small ruts. Throw some sand down on the ice and you'll be surprised what you can do without cranking and just running the drill.

by:

Looks like it shoulld work good!

- TVDA
by:

I like the 5X very much. I got it so that I could move my trailer myself. However, I think for the price, the drill adapter should be included.

- TVDA
by:

The customer service at etrailer is awesome. Thank you for your help. The parts I received worked perfectly.

- TVDA
by:

This adapter is very useful for using a drill to move the trailer. The adapter fits very tightly on the drive hub; I have to force the adapter to fit on the caddy's operating hub and then force the adapter off of the hub. I am not sure how I am going to resolve this situation.

I love it. Best thing ever to park your trailer in tight spots.

I bought the 5X Trailer Valet for my Jayco Pop UP camper. My driveway has a short but steep incline. I had been wrestling with the camper by moving it a few feet at a time with strategically placed wheel chocks. And what resembled a strong man competition to turn it around into the garage. Although the 5X is quite bulky it works remarkably well. I bought the drill attachment to "motorize" the 5X. There is a bit of a learning curve, between the combination of the tiller handle and the drill motor. The hand crank works surprisingly easy. The tires arrived with 10 lbs. PSI. The manual says tire pressure should be 85 lbs.. Defiantly check this out before applying tongue weight. All in all the 5X does the job.

This review will be for not only the Trailer Valet attachment, but for the Trailer Valet as well. The good: works well on cement and with the attachment I don't have to push my boat into my garage (it has a slight incline at the entrance). E-Trailer is excellent for customer support! I had a couple of minor issues and they were really on top of getting me help. The not-so-good: I've heard the Trailer Valet doesn't perform on grass or gravel. The attachment is made specifically for the Trailer Valet and you will not find another socket to work. Too bad the company chose to make extra money ($45) for a $5 part. On the Trailer Valet the bushings needed lubrication after one year because it started grinding. A simple fix but until I raised this issue the company did not have a video on how to do this maintenance. You will have to purchase ring clip pliers for this job.

Ordered a replacement handle and drill attachment for my trailer valet. Got them on time exactly as ordered.

I've used my Trailer Valet to move my 20' enclosed utility trailer around the driveway. I've also used it to move my 30' camper around, putting planks down on the lawn to run the Valet across. It works good, but is quite a workout with heavy trailers. In confined spaces, there's just no other way to do the job. I would like to have my original Valet adaptable to the newer, "universal ball-mount" style so I wouldn't have to buy a new unit and just set aside the original unit. The new "ball-mount" Valet would greatly simplify using the Valet. Overall, I'm pleased with the quality and operation of my original unit.

The installation of my Trailer Valet 5X has been simple and quick. However, I had some challenges which I anticipated before I placed the order. I have a 20' travel trailer with a battery case and 2-30 lb propane cylinders on the hitch. Furthermore, there is also a weight distribution hitch and the left end side has a large Virginia Safety Inspection sticker on the hitch that must not be obstructed. With the right hand side being the only place, I had to work out the 4 bolt location of the Trailer Valet bracket on the inside of the hitch to clear the support of the battery and the propane cylinders. The last challenge was the weight distribution bar which was too close to the Trailer Valet bracket. Fortunately, the EQUAL-I-ZER 4 POINT SWAY CONTROL has a tild adjustment that allowes to lower the weight distribution bar where it otherwise would touch the Trailer Valet bracket. Without this adjustment my project would have been ruined. I will send you a picture after my next trip at the End of August when the trailer is hooked up.

Overall, I think this product does an OK job. Being 6'1", it is too low to comfortably turn the handle. I would like to see the whole gear drive system be raised an additional 1 1/2' - 2'. That would put the lower handle position at a height where you can get some power behind each revolution. Turning of the trailer is also quite difficult. Takes quite a bit of effort to get the trailer going the direction you need. This product works OK on flat and level concrete, any bumps or depression in the surface, this produce has a hard time traversing. Too much tire slippage. I think this product would be fine on a very small trailer, but doesn't far so well with mine. Because of these issues I have created my owner electric driven trailer mover. There is room to improve this product. JD

- TVDA
by:

Very poor product...suppose to be drill attachment for Valet....broke second time I used it.....Valet was used in low gear and under no strain....Would never buy product again...look at price of this trash.

- TVDA
by:

Excellent. Allows me to move the trailer into the garage. I always like to order from this company. Questions are answered and they stand behind what they sell.

- TVDA
by:

Saves a lot of cranking, but can create a hazard if the Trailer Valet brake drops on and the drill twists out of the hands. Prompt delivery by etrailer!
