Today, we're going to be taking a look at Voyager's side body cameras. You can pick these up for the left side or the right side and either with white or gray primer. This side-mount camera will allow you to see any of your blind spots on whichever side you decide to mount it on. These come in two versions, one for the left, and one for the right. So, when installed on the appropriate side, your picture will be upright, and you'll get a nice wide angle view down the side of your RV, making it much safer to change lanes on the highway and during parking maneuvers.Your cameras can plug into a compatible display. We're using Jensen's 9000 series entertainment center unit.
And here you can see we've got down the left side of our vehicle. We can switch the camera to our right side, and we'll get a nice angle view. You can see, we can see all the way down the side of our RV. The camera features a high performance color optics, so you're going to be getting a nice, vivid display. Since it's installed up towards the front, right in front of our wheel here, we can see anything that's right next to us that we wouldn't be able to see just by looking out of our side window. So, here I am at the back of our RV about four or five feet away, and I'm clearly visibile.
So, if I was a car right next to you on the highway, you'd know I was there. No worries. This compact camera comes in a waterproof, white-colored housing. The overall dimensions are one and five-eighths inch wide, one and five-eighths inch tall, and three and a quarter inch deep. To get the camera mounted, you will have to drill a three quarter-inch hole for your wiring to poke through.
Your grommet will poke right in that hole and seal up nice and tight to prevent any water leaks. You'll then mount the body using self-tightening screws and any of the four locations. We we're just using two in the front here on ours. You'll route your wiring up to your display and plug it in. You can then just slide your cover on here and secure it with the supplied machine screw. Just use a Phllips head screwdriver to tighten that down.
It's a nice metal casing, so it'll be resistant against any impacts that may occur, such as rocks bouncing up off the highway. You'll route the wiring from your camera up to your display. Now, the wiring that comes off of your camera is less than a foot long, but you can purchase cable extensions here at etrailer.com. The one we're currently using for this setup is a 15-foot extension with part number CEC15, but there are many other lengths available that will suit your needs. The end of your camera will look just like this. Your extensions will have a male and a female end. This is our male end, which looks identical to the one that comes off of our camera. You would then simply plug it into your camera port on your display and then you can reinstall your display and make sure everything's working properly. And that completes our look at Voyager's side body cameras.
