The cover helps to keep out dust so that your lock remains in great condition.In my review of the Weigh-Safe WS6-25 on 12/03/1917, I expressed a desire that Weigh-Safe address my concern that crud would get into the lock mechanism. I figured out a way to cover the lock, but Weigh-Safe must have listened because their cover is, far and away, much better than the one I made. It's flexible enough to fit tightly and overlaps a bit on the hitch shaft, as well as covering the whole lock mechanism. I think this set-up is the perfect one for protecting your investment in this hitch. (A little oil in the lock every once in a while probably wouldn't hurt, either.

I bought this to keep the salt and stuff out of the lock on my hitch. But the hitch came with one and I haven't needed this yet. The one on the hitch is working just fine doing its job.
Has held up so far, but I suspect it is going to fall off as the plastic ages and becomes brittle, as it is only attaches with a press fitting.
Robert - 02/07/2022Works well, but I’m leaving this review as I wasn’t careful going through a high power car wash and I didn’t notice it popped off till I got home. Price is way to high for a fitted piece of rubber, but it saves the more expensive hitch locks from road salt (I.e. death) in (MN) cold climate use.

This works great. This is when I first got it. I am only polling my trailer with one pallet of concrete. The total weight of the trailer plus load was 4,600 lbs. It was easy to see and set my tung weight. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to know there tung weight, but you don't want the hassle of using scales.

The locking dual pin assembly dust cover for Weight Safe Ball Mounts fits very tightly and is made from a decent weight rubber compound. expect it to hold up well to years of use.

The cover fits snuggly, but I stepped on the hitch to access the bed of my truck and I must have touched the cover with my foot and it fell off. Had I not checked the hitch before I drove away, I wouldn't have seen the cover laying on the ground underneath the hitch. I think the cover should have been designed with a captive device or lanyard to that you can't lose it? Otherwise, for extended towing in the winter, the cover will save the lock from getting water and ice preventing me from adjusting the height or changing the ball size.

David P - 06/09/2020When I received this product and installed it, I was skeptical because the fit did not seem secure over the lock mechanism. I remember saying, "well, this should be gone by the time I get to the cabin". It has been over a year and it is still in place and doing its job, namely keeping dirt and debris out of the lock mechanism. The hardest part is remembering to take it off the bumper and put it back on after adjusting the hitch.

It's a nice thick dust cover that fits pretty snug, I ordered 2 extras because I'm sure I'll eventually lose one.
