Today we're going to be taking a look at the extension for the Yakima LoadWarrior Roof Rack Cargo Basket, part number Y07074. This extension piece is specifically designed for the Yakima LoadWarrior and adds about 18 inches of length to your cargo basket and increases its capacity by 40%. It also has a movable load bar to accommodate Yakima roof carriers as well. It's made from a sturdy galvanized steel construction and has a powder coat to resist corrosion. Even with the extension added to our Roof Basket, since we can actually place it a little bit further up, it still won't be an issue of clearance between our hatch and the basket itself and we didn't have to remove the antenna as well. Now that we've gone over some of the features of the extension, now let's show you how to attach it to our roof cargo basket. We've already disassembled the initial cargo basket and we set those screws off to the side here.
Our next step was we're going to remove the screws on our extension piece and then bring everything in together. To do this you will at least need a Phillips head screwdriver to install this. Our first step after we remove the screws, is we're going to bring our one-half together lining up the holes and pushing it into place. Get everything started on both sides. We're going to bring them in together until our holes line up.
Now we'll repeat this for our front half. With everything assembled, now we can set it onto our roof. Now we may need to make adjustments, especially with our brackets, and we'll take care of that when we place it up there. Our final step for the installation is to install our cross-bar here. We'll have to remove the end screw here with our included Allen tool. We'll do this on the other side as well.
We'll place our brackets on the ends here. We'll do this on both sides. Once they're in place, we'll place our bar in the middle and reattach our screws. Install our one end first. Press the bar down on the other side.
Place our screw through, and loosely install it on the other side. Once we have it loosely installed, we'll repeat this process on the other side. Tighten it down the rest of the way and then we'll finish tightening it up on the passenger side as well. Now we're ready to load up our gear and hit the road. There you have it for the extension for the Yakima LoadWarrior Roof Rack Cargo Basket, part number Y07074.

Made from the same sturdy steel as the LoadWarrior, the extension features a movable load bar to accommodate Yakima roof carriers. The basket with extension works perfectly for us. Our car has limited space, and when we go on vacation we need a place to put the luggage. The extension provided a great solution as two large, roll-on luggage bags fit inside perfectly. We place the empty roof bag in the basket. Then we put the luggage in the bag and zip it up (the bag, made by Curt, fits perfectly in the roof basket). Then we strap it down with ratchet ties that came with the bag. It is water tight and safe. We've never had issues with water or shifting, and we have covered a lot of miles. There is even room for items we may purchase while on vacation. Our advice is to just be careful not to exceed the weight limit and make sure all fasteners are tight and check them regularly. For added security, we put two Kryptonite locks on one front corner and one rear corner of the roof rack.
I recently received my Cargo Carrier Yakima Loadwarrior Extension via ground shipping. The delivery was fast and arrived well packaged. The product was easy to attach to my existing Yakima rack I had ordered years ago. I wanted a larger area for our cargo to fit but still wanted to utilize the existing roof rack. Packing for long-distance trips is never easy but I now have plenty of additional space. This was an excellent find!
The second extension makes the rack look much better on my Yukon XL. It was easy to install, but one screw hole was a bit off center and we stripped the threads on one of the screws. We finally got it in and hopefully it will hold.
Perfect fit as an addition to the LoadWarrior. It was easy to attach. Overall, a solidly built rack for holding recreational or camping gear, or even a spare tire if needed or when passengers are using the back seats. Make sure you strap everything down securely. Instead of the locking attachments that Yakima sells, I use my own cable and lock to secure the rack to my load bars. Anything that serves as a deterrent is better than nothing, but nothing is 100% theft-proof.

I use it, and I really like it. I always remove it from the roof when not actually utilizing it for carrying gear just in case I park in a garage with a low clearance. Ive parked in an underground garage without thinking about it, and later realized that if I had the basket mounted, I wouldve torn it off my roof. I also put a little sticker on my dash as reminder of the clearance from the top of the basket to the ground so that I can safely drive into places that have the clearances posted. The LoadWarrior and basket extension was a great investment for me.
Superb accessory to expand the versatility and size of your Load Warrior. Mine was about 7-8 years old and once the family got bigger I needed more room. This is exactly what I needed. Shipping was super fast and as always etrailer has perfected customer service! Thanks guys!

Awesome sauce!!!
I've had the Yakima roof basket on top of my Subaru for a year now and am quite happy with it. I recently drove from southern California to northern and back, a total of 804 miles, and had no problems with excessive noise, that was the only concern I had. I've owned Yakima racks in the past and was familiar with their durabilty.
Happy with everything but the locking brackets for the Load Warrior.
A hacksaw or small bolt cutters and your beautiful Load Warrior is GONE.
Received the Load Warrior extension in 3 days as promised. Excellent quality, fit & finish. Disassembly of basket and reassemby w/ extension took about 1515 minutes. Install on ‘16 Outback Limited took about 30 minutes by myself. Well worth it, love the extra capacity.

After one year, the basket is still working well. We take it off the roof for part of the year and store it. Over the summer, we used it to travel to Washington, D.C. 3 hours away, and it worked perfectly. We were able to fit luggage for four people, and on the way back, we had room for additional souvenirs. Granted, my wife is seasoned luggage packer! The basket is rugged and has held up to the elements. Would still strongly recommend the roof rack, basket with extension, and Curt bag.
