Today we are going to show you the spare tire with five spoke rim for the Yakima Rack and Roll trailer part number Y08121. There are several accessories that Yakima offers for the Rack and Roll trailer. One of them is a spare tire and wheel. The Yakima spare tire is an exact match to the wheels and tires that came with the trailer. Yakima offers the spare tire as it is not always easy to find wheels and tires in this size. The spare tire includes mounting hardware so that you can attach it directly to frame of the Rack and Roll trailer. The spare tire also comes with a lifetime warranty. The spare tire can be mounted to the top or the bottom of the main support tube in the integrated channel. 00:42
To begin the installation we are going to the square headed bolts into the channel and slide them into position. We are going to take the mounting plate and slip it over the bolts. Once you have the bracket in to position you can tighten down the included nylon lock nuts. With the mounting plate in place all we have to do is set the spare tire on top of the plate and the long bolt, the washer, and the split lock washer through the wheel and start threading it into the mounting plate. With the wheel centered, tighten down the bolt. With the spare tire locked down all we have to do is install the hubcap. With the hubcap snapped in place that concludes the installation of the Yakima spare tire for the Rack and Roll trailer.

What to do? It turns out this Yakima wheel/tire setup is very close in terms of OD and ID, and was nearly a plug-and-play replacement for the SportsRig wheels, just requiring a shim for the longer axle bolts. A year into using it, with many long distance trips, I can report that they have performed flawlessly! Great service and fast shipping by etrailer at the time, too.
The replacement tires and wheels were great. Came in on time and in good shape. I was able to install with no problems. Good product and customer service. Thanks etrailer you all saved my kayak trailer to use for many more miles.
I ordered a replacement spare wheel for my Yakima Rack and Roll trailer. When I placed the order I knew the product was backordered. etrailer is the best company I have ever ordered from. They regularly sent me emails updating me on the shipping status of my order. I never had to scratch my chin and ponder what was going on with my wheel because they were keeping me in the loop the entire time. Also, the product was well packed for shipping. I even commented to my husband about the quality of the box. I really hope I need trailer parts in the future because this company was such a pleasure to work with. Finally, the wheel is excellent. Yakima makes wonderful products.
I have had my Yakima Rack n Roll trailer for 10 years and decided I really needed a spare tire with rim in case something happens while on the road. I ordered the tire/rim combo from etrailer on Monday and received it on Friday. George even sent a personal email thanking me for my purchase! My husband mounted the bracket and wheel on my trailer today. I am very pleased with etrailer’s ease of ordering and quick turn around time with the tire in my possession and now on my trailer!
Good product and great buying experience from etrailer.com
I wanted a spare tire for our kayak trailer as we use it constantly. Our order was filled promptly and accurately. We received the tire quickly and are very satisfied with all aspects of dealing with etrailer.
Excellent experience with eTrailer, their product are OEM, fast delivery time, wide range of available options, here is where I found everything that I need when the original manufacturer doesn’t have the products available, reasonable price also, better that’s the original manufacturer like this Yakima spare Tire, if you look for something that is not available anywhere eTrailer will have it and a better price. Highly recommended, very easy website to navigate and more importantly a trustworthy website.
Quality spare wheel and tire. The only improvement that I would make is a built in lock but a bicycle lock works fine.

Still a great piece of mind item. One minor complain it that the hubcap fills up with water but other wise, all good.
We have a trip coming up that involves great distances and we plan to take the Yakima trailer. As such, we wanted to have the insurance of a spare tire with us in case something happens along the way. The spare is complete with mounting hardware and replaces the entire assembly on the trailer.
Spare tire conveniently stores on the trailer - have had no tire issues and not needed to employ the spare.
Etrailer has everything I need and ships rapidly.
Well made. To aid with potential roadside repair it would help to standardize the bolt head sizes. The bolt head size for the wheel hold down bolt should be the same size as the axle nut. Minimizes the number of tools required.
Great product and seller.
Oh my word….We’ve been waiting two years for this tire, almost to the date we purchased the trailer from our local dealership. It’s an odd size so that makes it challenging. No spare tire meant we couldn’t use the trailer on any trips. Last fall the local dealer refunded the $ on the tire because they & etrailer had no idea when/if it would be in (cvd/supply issues). No one had anything. I’ve since stayed in contact w/etrailer via emails or calls, checking on stock.
I saw last week they were in stock; I called to verify & Lori shipped one out immediately. It arrived a few days later!! Fits, and looks great. We hope we never need it but if we do, we finally have it. Thanks Lori!
etrailer has always been very prompt and easy to work with. I'd have no hesitation ordering form them again.
Great for parts you need
I wanted a small multi-purpose trailer (suited for a canoe, bicycles, or camping storage) and it needed to be easily storable. This trailer from Yakima met all requirements nicely. The build quality is exceptional, as it should be for the price. No questionable design choices. All mechanical parts move smoothly where they should, and fit snugly where they should not. Electrical wiring snaps together neatly at various points, and for the most part is hidden within frame.
I like its storability best. It can be disassembled to various degrees depending on how out of the way you would like it to be. I keep it simple. I remove the tongue and roll the bulk of the trailer for storage inside my garage, under my wall mounted canoe. The roller blade wheels at the brake lights are a great feature for moving the trailer on end.
I mainly use it to transport a 15' 3" Old Town canoe that weighs about 90lbs. Too wide for my Subaru's roof racks, and none too easy getting it up there even if it could fit. This trailer solved that problem, and opened up additional transport arrangements. Because it has roof rack type cross bars, I can share rack equipment on the trailer or car's roof.
I rated 4 of 5 stars for three reasons: price, assembly, and mobility. The price was staggering. I think mostly due to the trailer's quality and storability. I enjoyed assembling the trailer. It required a couple of hours to do by myself. The etrailer video is the way to go. Instruction manual can be used for reference, such as torque requirements. I recommend a torque wrench, don't want to take any chances on road safety. At any rate, because I had to assemble I felt the price should not have been so high. Also, as shown in my photos, one of the shocks arrived upside down. The shocks are preinstalled and I did not have the proper tools to remove and flip it. For this type of shock that is not important. None the less, I called etrailer customer service to confirm and bring it up. Lastly, the mobility is not great. That is simply due to being 2-wheeled. Not easy to back this guy down to a boat ramp. With practice maneuvering it is getting easier.
Odds and ends:
I ordered the spare tire and kickstand as well. The kickstand is yet to arrive due to manufacturer delay, but I put the spare on easily enough. etrailer staff is quite good, as noted elsewhere. They have been keeping me posted on order delays, and offering help.
The trailer arrived kit-wise in large cardboard boxes. I was not happy to find them broken open in several places. That is a delivery concern. Luckily very little damage to trailer components.
I live in Texas, which requires a license plate. I also registered the trailer, although not required. Both were fairly straight-forward. etrailer sent me a Bill of Sales (separately through USPS). This, along with a filled form available from DOT website & a small fee was all that was needed to leave with trailer plate in hand (title arriving later in the mail).
The manual mentions the dangers of the license plate several times. When stored on the trailer's end, the plate protrudes outwards and could be a cutting hazard. This was solved very easily by purchasing a silicone license plate frame for about $5.
Later I ordered a ball mount and trailer wiring kit. The ball had to be installed separately, but the good folks at my local [business] helped with that, free of charge. Hooking up the wiring kit was a breeze. The etrailer video made it easy once again, and lucky for me, they used my car during the demonstration.
Wheel and tire arrived quickly and in perfect shape.
High quality and delivered on time. Thank you.
Great customer service. Received everything well packed and expedited.
I didn't want to worry about being stranded somewhere with a flat tire so I purchased peace - of - mind with the Y08121 spare tire and the frame attachment hardware. It attaches neatly to the Rack and Roll Trailer frame and complements the over all package.
etrailer has good prices on Yakima accessories. The Yakima spare tire is going to give me peace of mind should I get a flat when towing my kayak trailer. Website is easy to use and is full of useful information. This is going to be my preferred place to shop. Thank you.
This item should come with the roof rack trailer. It will be a must if I ever have a tire puncture. This tire size is unique and not easy to source while traveling. I have it mounted to my trailer in the event of a flat tire.
SUPERB OEM COMPLETE ASSEMBLY, WITH LIGHTNING FAST SERVICE AND GREAT COMMUNICATION. THANKS!
Like most things Yakima produces...it was extremely easy to attach to the trailer and we now have no worries if an issue occurs while traveling!
