Video Transcript for Feature Review Fat Tire Straps for Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack

Hey everyone, it's Evangeline, and today we're taking a look at the Fat Bike Tire Straps for your Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack right here at etrailer. This sits on top of the ramp even more so than the thinner tires. We're here with a four inch tire. We can't even get close to that lever so this is a no-go. And that's where these Fat Bike Straps can come in handy. So what you're gonna need here is, you do have two straps included, so enough for one bike, but you are gonna have to use a three millimeter allen key, as well as an eight millimeter wrench.

So get that wrench in place and then loosen that bolt. Put your new strap on the bolt and then tighten it back down. And once you have your strap fully installed, you can see how it now secures your wider tires. And just like that, you're able to replace the straps on your Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack. If you just need to replace the factory straps with the same size, we have those as well.

If you want the Fat Bike Straps, perfectly fine too. We do have on our product page different tire sizes where we recommend replacing them. Sometimes you have 3.5s, but you also have to 29s, and then that's when you need the larger straps. Or you have smaller tires, but they're also fatter. So as long as you have the right tools, it's an easy job..

Still working great after 2,500 miles since the first review.

The longer straps made a world of difference in setting up the bikes by myself. That you for your help. I took them for a ride over a bumpy road and they stayed solid as a rock

The fat straps we ordered solved our problem perfectly. We have an electric fat tire bike that did not fit on our bike rack because the straps were too small. We ordered fat straps from etrailer and all is well! etrailer was great to work with and very responsive when we emailed with questions.

Just what we needed

by:

Thank you E trailer for the fast shipping and easy transaction. Yakima, thanks for not just putting the longer straps on from the factory. Will definitely look elsewhere next time I am in the market.

by:

These straps are every bit as strong as the original smaller straps. Kind of wish Yakima would just through them in with the original purchase. Highly recommended!

by:

These straps were exactly what we needed to secure our Lectric bicycles to the Yakima bike rack.

Just what I needed for my Lectric 2.0 ST E-Bike. The stock straps fit but I wanted longer straps to make it easier to lock down the E-Bike.

  • Does the Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack Work w/ 4 Inch Wide Tires?
It will if you add the Fat Tire Straps for Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack item # Y23FR. Without the fat tire straps the Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack item # Y36FR tops out at 3.25" wide tires.

  • Recommended Bike Rack with Ramp for E-Bike with Fenders
I do have an option but wheel mount bike racks cannot be used on bikes that have fenders even if they are short fenders which only extend over the tires a few inches. Therefore, you'll have to use a frame mount bike rack and if you're looking for one with ramps, I recommend the Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack part # Y36FR with Fat Tire Straps for Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack part # Y23FR. The step-though frame won't be an issue for this rack and neither will the weight.

  • What Bike Rack do You Recommend for My 60-Pound E-Bike on My 2013 Ford Focus?
I have a great solution for you for a bike rack with a ramp. Unfortunately, Saris does not make a ramp for the Saris MTY Bike Rack SA4031. We also do not have a bike rack that has a ramp for a single bike. With that being said, we do have a 2-bike option that comes with a ramp. For that route, I recommend the Yakima OnRamp # Y96FR (for 1-1/4" hitches) or the # Y36FR (for 2-inch hitches). The great thing about the OnRamp in addition to the included ramp is that you will not have to purchase...

  • Recommended 2 Bike Carrier For Electric Fat Bikes That Weigh 65lbs
I recommend looking into the Saris Freedom 2 Bike Platform Rack # SA4412B-FB. This is a 2 bike carrier which is specifically designed to transport electric fat bikes; it can also hold regular bikes without an issue. It can hold up to 5" wide tires which should be more than enough for any fat bike. The weight capacity is 60lbs per bike, so you will want to remove the battery from your electric bike when transporting to reduce the weight. This fits 1-1/4" and 2" hitch receivers. If you do...

  • What Hitch Bike Rack Do You Recommend for My 55-Pound Electric Bike with Fenders?
Since it already looks like you have a 2-inch hitch installed on your Toyota 4Runner (thanks for the photo!). As far as finding an economical rack that is lightweight and will be able to carry your 55-pound Townie Go! 5i Step-Thru Electric bike with fenders, your best bet is the Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 2" Hitches # Y36FR. The Yakima OnRamp weights only 39.5 pounds and it will allow you to simply roll up your 55-pound bike onto the platform to attach it to your vehicle....

  • Yakima OnRamp or Thule EasyFold XT For Fat Tire Electric Bikes
Both the Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack - 1-1/4" Hitches # Y96FR or 2" Hitches # Y36FR and the Thule EasyFold XT - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches # TH903202 require additional straps for fat tires, so between the two, the better bike rack is the EasyFold XT. The rack and the straps are the following: - Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # TH903202 - Fat Bike Straps for Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack # TH985101 While both come with an integrated ramp, the EasyFold XT offers a plethora of convenience...

  • What Hitch do You Recommend to Use the Yakima OnRamp # Y36FR on My 2015 Subaru Outback?
For a wider range of compatibility of accessories and greater overall stability, I recommend going with a 2" Class III hitch on your 2015 Subaru Outback. If you want a hitch with an easier installation, I recommend Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C13206. • Best Bike Rack for a Magnum Ui6 Electric Bike
Thanks for the picture! The best bike rack for your Magnum Ui6 Electric Bike is going to be the Yakima OnRamp item # Y96FR if your Volt has a 1-1/4" trailer hitch receive. The Yakima OnRamp has the capacity to carry two e-bikes weighing up to 66 lbs apiece. One of the best features of this bike rack is the cradle to attach to your bikes is adjustable and can be rotated, allowing it to attach to the cross tube of your bike. What you would want is the Yakima OnRamp part # Y36FR with the Yakima fat tire adapters part # Y23FR and you'd have a great way to carry your fat e-bikes at the back of your motorhome! While this really is your only option it is also a great option regardless due to how nice the bike rack is. The rack has a 66 lb capacity which is just enough your 65 lb bikes and also uses frame clamps so it would not interfere with your fenders.

The Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes, # Y36FR has a rated weight capacity of 66 lbs. per bike and 40 lbs. per bike when used off-road. • Need Bike Rack for 2 eBikes to Use on Travel Trailer
For a bike rack that is rated for travel trailers and with a weight rating for heavier ebikes, I suggest the Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes, # Y36FR. From information available to me, it appears the Specialized COMO 4.0 weighs in at about 48 lbs. This has a weight capacity of 66 lbs. per bike but rated at 40 lbs. when used off-road or on an RV.
