Hi everyone, it's Evangeline here at Etrailer, and today we are looking at the Yakima BackDeck camping table for the Yakima EXO system here at Etrailer. This is a great addition to your pre-existing Yakima EXO system, so this works with a TopShelf or the SwingBase. Make sure you already have those. But this provides a nice, flat surface for setting up your gear, maybe prepping your meal, or just having an addition to your party. You can see that we have this loaded up with our camping gear. We have our stove.
We have our mugs. We have our utensils. We even have our coffeemaker. So, you can put really anything on this table as long as it's not more than 80 pounds. The table is made of treated bamboo, which means, while you can set up your cooking gear on it, this should not be used as a cutting board.
And I highly recommend putting a cutting board on top if you want to use it for that. I have this setup on our top shelf with a GearLocker on the bottom. This can be also paired with all of your other Yakima accessories. You can have the GearWarrior or the ski and snowboard carrier on the bottom, or can put this on the SwingBase, if you want to set up a table closer to the ground. The length of the table is 50 and 1/2 inches.
As for the width, it sits at 17 inches wide. The table is made of a durable bamboo, and it is coated with a UV-resistant coating. That means, even if you have it out in the sun for an extended period of time, you don't have to worry as much about discoloration or damage to the wood. It really is designed to be used with the EXO system, and kind of as an extra accessory to be added. As it is, if it's just a bamboo table, it's not anything super special, but when you add it to the TopShelf or the SwingBase, that's where you get the most out of it.
So, I highly recommend, if you already have the other accessories, and you wanna add a little extra coolness or a nice flat surface to work on to your entire system, this is a pretty good addition. For install, the table comes in a bag that can fit inside either your GearLocker or your GearWarrior, so you can just take that right out and then set it up. The bag opens at one end, and from here you can slide your table out of it. On the inside, you have these cleats, and this will fit into the tracks of your EXO system. Fit that into the arms of either your TopShelf or your SwingBase. They'll fit right on the inside. And then from there, you can secure it by tightening down your locking SpeedKnobs all the way. And once they are tight, you then use the tabs on the side right here to secure it completely. And once that's done, you are done with the install of your table. The unit arrived as projected,, 4 components all well packaged.
The instructions were easily followed and accurate

Very easy to install. Total installation time (not counting taking photos and opening boxes) was approximately 15 minutes. The only issue I encountered was the left handle on the lower rack had a broken piece inside the locking pin assembly. Other than that, everything was quick and smooth for a single person job. This will greatly assist my business by allowing more room for passenger comfort on long trips to and from airports with a large party. Looking forward to putting this to use.

I just bought a Yakima cargo box with the exo system. I also got the top section add on with the optional table and or bike rack. This product is very solid and it is everything I thought it would be. My wife and I , love it. Thanks

Everything fit with no problems. My brother suggested mounting the hitch first to the hanging brackets to bare the weight and then attach to the main frame. Then tighten all bolts to spec. Worked like a charm.

We are very happy with our new Yakima Exo System! It is easy to install and move between vehicles and the cargo container holds a ton of stuff we don’t want to store in our RV cargo bays. We are also very pleased with the customer service at eTrailer. Paula helped us out when the website said it was not available until after our date to go full-time RVing. She got us three of the 4 items so we could get started with install. And she keeps in touch with us on when items have shipped and expected arrival date. Thanks Paula!

Truly one of the best purchases I have recently made. etrailer provided updates on my order the entire way, to include picture icons of the individuals who received my order, pack my order, and shipped my order, and then links I could use to see the status of my order all the way to my door. Despite the 2 boxes, one bulky and the other heavy, both boxes arrived at the same time undamaged. The carrier came with two wrenches and extra lock tumblers to swap out the lock on the box to match the hitch and carrier locks to all be keyed the same. I was not expecting the added attention to detail and professional touch etrailer and Yakima provided. The swing away carrier is well built and was easy to install on my 2022 Subaru Outback with no issues. The rear hatch opens with the carrier and box closed, but getting out large dog in and out of the back of the car seemed dangerous without swinging the carrier open. The taillights and license plate are visible. I recommend adding reflective tape to the box for added visibility because the rear reflectors on the car are not visible. Accessing the contents in the box on the rear of the car is so much easier than trying to access stuff using the roof storage box.

Got this to use in conjunction with our truck slide in camper. The additional cargo storage space the EXO system offers with the upper deck is enough for our generator, coolers, pop up canopy, bbq grill, chairs and firewood. Being able to swing the entire rack off to the side for access to the camper door is the best part is the system, by doing this also creates a great work station right next to the camper door that I can cook from.

This is an awesome set for adding extra space to your vehicle. The product shipped super fast and was in great condition. There was some issues with the boxes from UPS being torn up but the product inside was perfect. The team at etrailer has been responsive and helpful the entire way. Definitely will purchase products from this team again.
Specifically for 2022 and newer Wagoneer owners there is a trick to opening your back hatch with this installed. In the pics below you have to fully swing loosen the top pivot screw about 1/8” to allow the clearance for the hatch to swing by. If all is tight and you only swing the arm to the 90 deg position it will hit when you open the hatch.
