Replace a lost or damaged tongue wiring harness on your Yakima Rack and Roll trailer with this equivalent part.I own a Yakima Rack and Roll trailer that I love for transporting kayaks, bicycles, and the occasional small load of lumber. Not certain why, but probably because I use it a lot, I have a bad record of needing minor repairs and parts up to a fender and a frame part. This time, though, I removed a tongue extension and out poured a pile of acorns. The trailer had been temporarily stored under my back deck and the squirrels or chipmunks in my yard had been busy and while storing the acorns chewed on the wiring harness for some reason. They have the same affinity for Toyota air cleaner housings. I should be able to break this trailer down as intended and store indoors next winter. eTrailer has always come through having new parts in stock and ready to ship! eTrailer is highly recommended for both trailers and spare parts!
The wires in the original lighting harness on my new Rack and Roll trailer were clipped by the trailer tongue and my repair did not quite work well. So I ordered this new one. Works great - just what I needed - only I now zip tie the harness along the tongue instead of running it through the trailer tongue. etrailer was prompt and had exactly what I needed.
etrailer is AWESOME! I couldn't get this part from Yakima, but etrailer came through in time for another family vacation...Thanks. ' Thinking about ordering another as a spare. FYI, if you use the telescoping tongue on the Rack-n-Roll trailer and forget to disconnect the wiring harness (like I did) before pushing it back in, then the wiring insulation could get stretched/stripped. You don't want to be 200 miles from home with no trailer lights. "Thank you" again for etrailer coming to the rescue!
Finally, the lights work on my trailer. Wiring harness arrived on time and was pretty self-explanatory, even for this trailer neophyte. The supplied drill bit was cheap and broke in half, so we had to finish using our own - and one slightly larger, as the screw would not go in the hole for the ground. So, other than a few hiccups and taking a bit longer to do than anticipated, my lights now work consistently.
This is more of a review for etrailer.com than the product; although the wiring harness worked perfectly. The service etrailer.com provided was excellent from start to finish. I highly recommend them!
Excellent replacement harness. Had the original for ten years, but ground short caused loss of trailer lights. New harness relocates the ground. Kit provides drill to attach ground to frame and screw is provided. Only issue is that screw is not self tapping. Suggest screw provided be a self tapping screw of you may have to make a rip to hardware store if you break provided screw off.

Ive had this amazing trailer for at least 6 years and this year I forgot, when taking it out of storage and attaching the tongue, to lift the wire harness up when installing the bolt. I ended up driving the bolt right into the harness and it severed 3 of the wires! So, after removing the whole harness and repairing it, I did what you did..I ZIP-TIED it along the tongue and I covered all the exposed wires with plastic tubing. I wish they had actually designed it that way.
