Standard electric brake assemblies require manual adjustment of the brake shoes over time to provide longer-lasting and more efficient braking performance. With self-adjusting brakes, the brake shoes are always properly aligned, so there's no need to manually adjust the brakes after the initial adjustment. As a result, you get optimum performance without having to take the time to continually perform this type of maintenance.
This brake assembly meets the requirements for certification by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). The CSA creates standards, which when complied with ensure a safe and quality product. This brake assembly underwent extensive testing to measure stopping distances when braking. This brake has also been tested by QAI for braking performance in a complete automotive setup and under real-world conditions to provide the most realistic scenario for the everyday driver.
Each shoe on this brake assembly is lined with automotive-grade friction material for improved stopping performance and longevity. The friction material is fully bonded onto the surface of the brake shoe. This lining is custom-molded for a perfect fit. The edges are tapered to ensure long-lasting performance. This taper, along with the circular grinding that the lining undergoes, helps to prevent cracking and crumbling. This durability helps to prevent mechanical lockup, which can occur when brake shoes are excessively worn or broken.
The friction material is also SAE-N certified, which means that it is an environmentally safe product that complies with California and Washington regulations regarding the composition of brake pads. As a result, this material not only provides high-performance braking that can endure the test of time, but it is also environmentally friendly and safe for use throughout the United States and Canada.

Dust shield protects from debris.The 8'000 lb. brake assemblies I purchased were exact replacements for the ones on my Lakota LQ horse trailer. Apparently before I purchased the trailer, a "grease monkey" overfilled the hubs with grease and blew out the seals, which coated the brake shoes. Rather than changing just the shoes, I swapped the entire assemblies, a much less messy job for sure! Now I have correctly working new brakes on my new trailer.

To date, I have not actually used the brakes which easily mounted to the rectangular plate (3-5/8" wide x 3-3/8" high o.c. holes) that previously held Dexter hydraulic drum brakes (12-1/4" x 3-38"); but . . . . Wow! Fast delivery (less than 3 days), especially considering it was during Thanksgiving week. I ordered both sides for 2 axles after calling and speaking with Natalie at eTrailer.com, who provided the best customer service I have experienced to date.
The brake assemble was the best thing to use when replacing the brake shoes on the trailer rather than replace with individual parts. The price is not that much more and everything is new and simple to replace.

I ordered 4 new sets of trailer brakes, i couldnt believe how fast they were shipped. I am installing them this week, i hope. They seem like good quality too. Price was great.
