This trailer brake assembly acts as part of your trailer's hydraulic braking system. A hydraulic trailer brake actuator is required for this brake to function.
This brake assembly meets the requirements for certification by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). The CSA creates standards, which when complied with ensure a safe and quality product. This brake assembly underwent extensive testing to measure stopping distances when braking. This brake has also been tested by QAI for braking performance in a complete automotive setup and under real-world conditions to provide the most realistic scenario for the everyday driver.
Each shoe on this brake assembly is lined with automotive-grade friction material for improved stopping performance and longevity. The friction material is fully bonded onto the surface of the brake shoe. This lining is custom-molded for a perfect fit. The edges are tapered to ensure long-lasting performance. This taper, along with the circular grinding that the lining undergoes, helps to prevent cracking and crumbling. This durability helps to prevent mechanical lockup, which can occur when brake shoes are excessively worn or broken.
The friction material is also SAE-N certified, which means that it is an environmentally safe product that complies with California and Washington regulations regarding the composition of brake pads. Product was as advertise and package well. We will definitely purchase more parts in the future.
These brake assemblies were the perfect choice, replacing all parts with one new assembly vs trying to replace components. Fit extremely well to my 1996 Tennessee trailer. I highly recommend this approach. The quality and functionality wa just right.
After buying from Amazon, I got smart and went back to etrailer. I had bought 2 set brakes from Amazon and 2 brake lines from Orielly's. Bad move. Brakes were fine, but the lines stripped when trying to put into new brakes.. Had to put original back into one and used the new brake and lines from etrailer for the other side. Worked like a charm.....

They work very well on my boat trailer. Had them on for a year now.
These hydraulic surge brake backing plates bolted right up and work great, I purchased both sides. I can now tow knowing that my brakes are working at 100%.
Fits well and works well. Have always been pleased with etrailer products and service.
One was off center some. One had a bolt on the back keeping the assembly from flush to the axel plate. I had to cut part of the edge of the bolt to fit. The off center may not have a serious effect on braking. I got them to work and they were only $10 more than the shoes I was going to put one and got all new braking system.
I gave the product a 4-star review only because it did not come with lock nuts which meant that I needed to make a quick trip to the hardware store for (8) self-locking fine thread 7/16" nuts. It would be nice to include these with the brakes because the "old" nuts from the original brakes were not fine thread and would not work. The bolts in these are "pressed" in so I couldn't use the old bolts. Pressed in is better, but please consider including the nuts. As for the product assembly, quality and install, it couldn't be simpler. The videos for the install are very thorough and complete. Add the nuts and I would give these a 5-star. I have puchased other items from etrailer and they are a very good source of trailer parts.

I have been using those complete brake assemblies on my boat trailer and think they are great! What amazed me was how easy it was to replace the old assemblies with the new ones!
I owned and operated a tire and auto store for about 40 years and have lots of experience with brakes on cars, truck, motorhomes, etc., but never used a complete brake assembly like this on a trailer. Anyone can do this and I send you a big

I purchased more than just the indicated brake wheel assembly. It was a quick install and has performed well. The boat trailer doesn't get used often enough, but when it is used to tow in up to 120 degrees across the So. Cal. deserts it's comforting to know all new parts won't leave me stranded
ordered about 10:30 wednsday evening and it was at my door friday afternoon. very fast shipping and great prices on it. quality was very good and install video was a big help. great purchase all the way around. i have bought from here before and has always been great service and quality products. thank you.
As advertised! Was able to unbolt old assembly and put on new one. The old assembly had bolts that came through the back plate and nuts on the brake pad side. New assembly had bolts pressed onto the brake assembly facing inward so the nuts were on the inside. Top bolts were close to the axle, but no issues as the nuts went on with no problem. Had to use an open end wrench to tighten, as I did not have a thin wall socket.
Exact replacement for my trailer with 3500lb. axle. Fit and finish are great, and easy to adjust and bleed the brake cylinder. Would recommend, and would definitely buy products from etrailer.com again.

Appears to be a quality product, though haven’t yet driven the trailer to determine functionality. Easy install. However, was quite disappointed to have to make a special trip to the hardware store to purchase the nuts to complete the install as none of the assemblies came with them

Part almost fit as received. Had to pull two studs and reverse them to make it fit as there wasn't enough room for the nut on the inside. Not an issue with other RH side. Works fine.
