I am very pleased with the results of my installation of the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 in my 1998 Toyota T100 using the ETBC6 installation kit. Patrick at etrailer provided information to help me know what to do, and I reviewed etrailer's video entitled "Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2002 Toyota Tundra" several times in preparation for the effort. The video is the most comprehensive of any I could find, showing what to do from beginning to end, even though the vehicle is different from mine. The ETBC6 kit included everything I needed (extremely convenient) except for a 1/2" grommet (which it should include for a few pennies more). The effort required about 5 hours. The most difficult part was determining which wire on the T100's Brake Switch (Green with White Stripe) to attach the red wire to from the Prodigy P2 because the Brake Switch is located in a very difficult location that could not be easily probed.

Weve used it several times throughout the past year and it works perfectly. I wouldnt pull a trailer without it.

by:

Already had a 7-way without brake controller and 12v power wires. Ordered this kit because it came with everything I needed but was cheaper than the ETBC7.

by:

Easy to install, great to have both 4 pin and 6 pin for variety of trailers.

by:

Good product at good price, and great support

by:

Product was as specified. Video tutorials made install easy. If you have any problems these guys are right on the ball. Can't say that enough.

by:

Everything in my kit was of great quality and most importantly I received it promptly after placing my order. The sales rep was very knowledgeable and very professional.

Thank you Cathy.

  • Availability of Just Wiring of Trailer Wiring Adapter Kits ETBC7/ETBC6
Actually I think what would be the best solution for you would be the part # 5506 which is just the items you need from either the # ETBC7 or the # ETBC6 since it's just the wiring without the wiring adapter. The only thing not included is the zip ties which we don't offer as separate items but those are easy to source.

  • Parts Needed to Convert 4-Way of 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport to 6/7-Way and Install Brake Controller
You would need to convert the 4-way to a 6-way so that you can install the brake controller. For that you will want the Brake Controller Install Kit and 7-Way Adapter part # ETBC6. I attached installation instructions and an install video for this product as well. In most cases you'd want a 7-way and not a 6-way so you'd instead want the part # ETBC7. For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because...

  • Is Brake Controller Install Kit, Part ETBC7 Needed to Install Brake Controller on 1998 Suburban?
On your model year, in some instances GM ran a orange and blue wire from under the brake master cylinder to the rear of the vehicle, along the drivers side frame rail. If this wiring is in place, all of the rest of the connections must be wired into the vehicle. I usually recommend using the Brake Controller Installation Kit anyway. The kit includes the trailer connector, circuit breakers, hardware and wire. You most likely will not need all of the wire in the kit, but as a matter of convenience...

  • Parts Needed to Convert 4-Way of 2017 Jeep Wrangler to 6-Way and Install Brake Controller
The kit you need to convert your 4-way to a 6-way is the part # ETBC6 which plugs right into the 4-way and then comes with everything needed to wire in a brake controller. For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P3 Brake Controller part # 90195. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount...

  • Installing a 7-Way or 6-Way Trailer Connector on a 2014 Honda Pilot With Electric Brake Power
If your 2014 Honda Pilot came with the factory tow package, then you can use the Tow Ready Custom Fit Wiring Harness, # 118265. The electric brake circuit will work, but you will also need a brake controller, like the Tekonsha Prodigy P3, # 90195, and a custom brake controller wiring adapter, like part # 3070-P. The brake controller is what applies power to the electric trailer brake circuit. Models that came pre-wired for the tow package will have a factory brake controller plug located...

The part # 37175 could be used to adapt your 4-way to a 6-way, but you will be required to track down several other components so that you can make the connector functional and to install a brake controller. A better product to get would be the part # ETBC6 as it comes with everything needed to convert the 4-way to a 6-way and wire up a brake controller. I attached a link to install instructions plus an install video for you to check out. I also attached a picture that has a diagram that...

You will need to start with a 4-way (if you do not have one). For that you would want the # 118304. Now to convert the 4-way to a round 6-way you would only need the part # 37175. If all you need is trailer light functions this would be all that you would need. If instead you need to control the brakes of your trailer you would need the # ETBC6 instead of the # 37175. For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake...

  • Adapting a 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector on 2011 Toyota Tacoma to 6 Round on 1983 Coleman Camper
Since your truck has a 4-Way flat connector and the trailer has a 6-Way round, adapter # HM47320 will not work. It is made to go from a 6-Way round on a vehicle to a 4-Way flat on a trailer. What you need is an adapter like # A10-6034VP. Your 4-way will plug into the adapter, and you will need to ground the white wire to the truck frame. The other two wires on the adapter are black for 12-volt power and blue for electric brakes. If you do not wish to use these functions, then you can tape...

  • Which Trailer Connector is Needed for 2009 Chevy Traverse without Tow Package
The trailer connector you need will depend on the type of trailer you are planning on towing and whether or not your Traverse is set up with factory tow package wiring. If you are going to tow a smaller utility or flat bed trailer that does not have electric brakes or on board accessories that would require power like an electric jack or interior lighting, then a 4 pole connector should be just fine for you. To provide a 4 pole connector on your Traverse without factory tow package wiring,...

Hopkins does not offer a universal plug for the Agility Brake Controller. Your best bet would be to order the controller and harness combination you referenced, and cut off the vehicle end of the plug as you mentioned. The bare leads on the end of the harness would then be hardwired into the vehicle. • Parts Needed To Install a Brake Controller and 6-Pole Connector on 2015 Ford Fusion
Before deciding to tow your camper with your Ford Fusion, I recommend checking your owner's manual for the towing capacity of your vehicle. It is important to not exceed the manufacturer's maximum towing capacity for your vehicle. Since your micro camper has a 6-way trailer connector, it is likely that the trailer has electric brakes. To power your trailer's brakes, you will need a wiring harness, a brake controller, and a brake controller installation kit. To start wiring your 2015...

  • Do Your Carry an OEM Replacement 6-Way Connector for a 2008 Ford F-150
A 2008 Ford F-150 would have come with either a 4-Way or 7-Way connector. There is not an OEM 6-Way. You can convert your 4-Way into a 6-Way using 6-Way Installation kit part # ETBC6. You would plug your existing 4-Way into the 4-Way socket on the ETBC6, then you would run the blue wire to either the reverse lights or brake controller, depending on how your trailer is set up, and then you would run the red wire up to the battery for a 12V power source.

The dry weight of the trailer, 2810 lbs, a 900 lb horse with the possibility of another plus gear would place your maximum loaded trailer weight somewhere in the neighborhood of 5000 pounds. When calculating the necessary capacity of a weight distribution system, the weight of any cargo loaded in the tow vehicle behind the rear axle needs to be considered as well. The 5000 pound figure also includes an estimated 400 lbs of gear both in the trailer and in the rear of the tow vehicle. Given...

Brake Controllers are not vehicle specific, you can use any controller you wish on your F250. This being said, I would recommend a proportional-type controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P2, part # 90885. The Prodigy P2 is our best selling brake controller, and is popular because it is easy to use and the initial set up is very simple. A proportional controller is superior to the older technology used by the time-delayed brake controllers. The proportional controller uses an internal sensor...
