Video Transcript for Review of etrailer Wiring Accessories - 7-Way Junction Box - e99009

Ellen: Hey everyone, I'm Ellen, here at And we're going to be taking a quick look at the etrailer brand 7-way junction box. This is a pretty basic component for your trailer, especially if you have electric brakes or any kind of lights on your trailer, which you probably should. And this is going to be kind of the nerve center of all those wires. It's where everything's going to come in and meet. So you can have that one central location to run all your wires to, to keep everything organized and to make it easy to do any kind of maintenance or repairs or add or take anything out of your trailer.

So, a lot of times, if you get a trailer, you might have to redo the wiring because it's been all jumbled up or they've added a bunch of stuff and it's just kind of a mess. So, getting a whole new junction box can make that a lot easier, or maybe your trailer didn't even have one to begin with. Whatever the case might be, this is a really good fit for a lot of applications. So, let's take a little closer look. The screws that I just took out, those are going to be for the lid. They actually hold that in place.

So, it does not come with any mounting hardware to get this onto your trailer. Kind of depends on where you're going to be mounting it. If you're going to put it on metal or wood, or maybe something else, that kind of determines what screws you'll need to attach that. But no mounting hardware included with this. So, just keep that in mind, so you will have to pick that up on your own.And then, as you can see, we will have some grommets that's going to be passed through and solid.

So, you can kind of pick which one is going to work best for your particular application or for that particular spot. You might have all solid, except for just two on either end that are going to be passed through, or whatever you want to do. Does give you five of each. So, one for each spot, so you can mix and match as you want. The advantage with having the solid, you can still poke through that or cut through that if you want to just allow one wire to come in, or just a few smaller wires, instead of having this bigger opening.

And that way, it's just going to help to keep out any kind of water or dirt and debris. The lid also should do a pretty good job with keeping out anything. It has a nice deep lid and it's double walls. So, it's really sits down on the box, helps to keep anything out from getting in there and causing any issues or shorts with your wiring. So, going to take all those little grommets out. And with this, you also get four ring terminals. These are going to be for your 12 to 10-gauge wire, and then also 10 ring terminals for your 16 to 14-gauge wire. So, these are just a little bit smaller than these. They all fit on those posts to help you make those connections. On the inside of our box, on the top of each of those posts, they are color coordinated. This is going to be the RV standard coordination of colors there. So, going through them, we'll have white, black, yellow, red, green, brown, and blue. White and black, pretty universal. White's ground. Black's 12-volt power. The yellow in this application would be auxiliary or reverse lights. Red would be your left stop and turn lights or your left brake and turn signal. Green would be your tail or your running lights. Brown would be your right stop and turn signal. And then, blue would be your trailer brakes. It's also usually pretty universal.Sometimes people wire them a little bit differently. There's kind of a different traditional wiring. There's also a different wiring for heavy duty. Really, it's just a matter of deciding which wire is going to go where. The color coordination just kind of helps to make it a little bit simpler to figure out what wires corresponding to what function. So, by having that and matching it up to the wiring that you're using at the front of your trailer should make it easier. Most of your seven-pole wiring will look like this for the trailer side. So, that's probably what's going to be easiest. Really, it doesn't matter what you put where, just that color coordination, again, helps you to keep track of what's going to what.On the ends, here, we do have some little clamps that help to keep the wire nice and tight. You can kind of see those. It's going to hold that down and keep everything where it needs to be. So, pretty straightforward. Again, having a new junction box, makes it easy to keep all those wires where you want them. As far as the size, the overall size from edge to edge is going to be eight and an eighth and then three and three eighths and two and three eighths. The lid size is about six and five eighths and then about three inches. The mounting holes at the edges, here, those are going to be seven and three eighths inches apart, center to center. That's pretty much all there is to it for our look at the etrailer wiring junction box. I hope this video's been helpful in deciding if this is going to be the right one for you. We do have a lot of other accessories to get your trailer fitted out. So, if you need extra wire, buck connectors, lights, or anything else, we should have you covered. Again, I'm Ellen, here at Thanks for watching.

etrailer Trailer Wiring Junction Box - 7 Terminal - e99009

Average Customer Rating:  4.9 out of 5 stars   (83 Customer Reviews)

This trailer wiring junction box provides a fast, easy way to connect your trailer's wiring to either a 6-way or 7-way connector. Makes replacing your trailer's connector simple.

Been very happy with the 90 degree wiring harness over the past year. It saved running the 7 pin connector over the tailgate. Replacing the 7 pin connector with new Junction box helped in cleaning up the mess in the old box. The new 7 pin wiring harness is lighter & more flexible. All 3 products are still working well and have saved me time & functionality.

The team at etrailer has helped restore my faith that customer service is alive and well. Fresh on the heels of a very frustrating experience with a local shop, etrailer did what the other would not. They delivered the parts in a timely manner and kept me informed throughout the process. With this care on the front end, I am confident that I would see the same care in resolving a problem. I do not often need the products of this company but if the opportunity arises, I will be a returning customer.

Purchased this junction box before and was very pleased with it (size, construction quality, etc.), so I bought another one for a rewiring job on an older trailer.

One year follow-up review: junction box is holding up well and all seals are intact. Cant ask for anything better.
Jim B - 04/18/2022

I didnt like that you have to make sure to leave enough wire slack to be able to open the battery door since it has the indicator lights

Great quality. Also the product really helps to organize your wiring.

I have forgotten about it... because it is trouble free. Installed easily and the wiring is well organized for quick diagnosis.

Junction box was perfect then and perfect now over a year later.

Great folks to work with! Everyone at etrailer actually wants to help you, unlike most places now! I ordered a part and immediately received an email stating that the part was back ordered but that they had a suitable substitute for less money. I called and my order was adjusted, credit card charge was updated for the lessor cost and part was sent the same day!

This is exactly the right item for upgrading & organizing trailer wiring.

Received this quicker than anticipated, very high quality and larger than expected. Plus, it came with spare parts, such as mounting screws, two types of rubber grommets (solid and pass through) and ring terminals for both sides of the junction box. Overall very pleased with the “cheapest” box I could find, so I’m glad I ordered two so I can rewire both my trailers.

Worked great!

My trailer came with a standard household junction box and all the wires were connected via twist on connectors. When my 7-way failed I decided it was time to upgrade. I searched around and decided that the etrailer 7 terminal junction box was the product for me. Installation was fairly easy and it is nice that the studs are color coded. The kit comes with a few ring connectors, but I ended up buying different ones (smaller size) as well to assist in the hook up. My installation required the use of three entry points. 7-way on one side, the majority of the trailer wires from the other side, and two large diameter hot wires were fed up through the bottom. I was worried that all 20 wires would not fit. But the box has enough room to route the wires so that they can be evenly distributed onto any given post. In the end, it is a much cleaner solution than what was originally supplied by the manufacturer

Got one junction box for my car hauler and after installing it decided this was the best thing for wiring and ordered one for the Wells Cargo. Beats the heck out of butt connectors and electrical tape when you need to track down a problem.

Outstanding part

Very nice product

I have never seen junction box for trailer wiring quite like this one. It was perfect for my application and replaced a "household" one a previous owner installed ( poorly I might add!) A quick and easy install and it is a neat and clean set up. I can't imagine any issues with it ever, but if there was, It would be very easy to troubleshoot a problem, or add a circuit.

Best thing I bought for the trailer. Very easy to use. I know where to get them now.

Appears to be a quality junction box with good seals. We'll how it holds up over time.

Love this junction box it makes troubleshooting so much easier

Used it for train horn setup

I have a 6 x 12 trailer with a flat 4 connector. I've had enough of fiddling with the flat 4 and poor connections. I decided to upgrade to an RV 7 wire plug and use this box to make a clean and protected installation for my lighting system. I'm very impressed with the quality of the box and the installation kit that comes with it. I will be installing it this weekend.

Made rewiring a snap. the down side is the crimp terminals are over sized for the smaller wires so you'll have to double over the wire to get a good solid crimp

I found that this is a good link when a new or replacement plug with the optional heavy duty coiled harness is installed to be able to connect to the original wiring harness. It gives you the ability in the future to quickly diagnosis electrical issues that could arise.

Everything you need to relocate electrical splices from a crowded emergency break away battery box to separate junction box. Now adding accessories to the trailer is very easy.
I highly recommend etrailer for any of my trailer needs

This junction box makes the wiring a lot neater than before.

  • Troubleshooting A 2020 Nissan Frontier 7-Way Wiring Harness That Has Constant Power To The Brakes
I would start by checking each connector on your T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118266 to ensure that you don't have any bent or damaged pins or any debris in the connectors. If not and all connectors are fully connected together then you'll want to test the 7-way to rule out that the wiring harness is the issue. I've attached a wiring diagram below which you can use to identify the prong/wire functions. If the functions on are correct on the 7-way on your 2020 Nissan Frontier then we...
