Specs:
This rigid-mount coupler fits tightly within the channel bracket (sold separately) for a secure and rattle-free connection. Four mounting bolts with nuts are included for installation.
Hexagonal grooves are cast into the inside of the coupler's channel to hold the nuts in place for you as you tighten the bolts down when mounting the coupler in your trailer's channel bracket. This not only makes installation faster and easier, but it also allows for a tighter fit that eliminates movement and noise. It also reduces any jolting that occurs during acceleration and braking.
The ball-and-socket joint of the coupler keeps the hitch ball captive by providing a continuously tight fit. Within the socket, the ball retains full range of motion so that it can rotate in any direction to keep your trailer from binding up.
To hook up your trailer, simply lower the coupler over the hitch ball and close the hinged latch around the ball. Then slide the Collar-Lok over the latch. When the collar is in place, it not only protects the hinge joint, but it also gives you visual assurance that the latch is securely closed. As a final step, slide in the coupler pin. This pin is chained to the coupler so you won't lose it. Because the pin hole is angled instead of being straight up and down, inserting and securing the pin is easy.
Simply reverse the steps to unhook your trailer from your tow vehicle. Slide the pin out and push the Collar-Lok back. The spring-loaded hinge will pop open for a quick release. A built-in stop tab will keep the jaw from flinging out too far as the coupler opens. The stop tab is a unique addition that prevents the hinge from overextending.
The latch has a force-transfer feature to add stability as the ball is forced against it on bumpy roads. This keeps the hinge joint and latch from breaking or torquing to extend the life of the coupler.
The downward bias of the coupler improves the angle at the articulation point and allows for a better connection with the hitch ball. The result is better support for heavy loading and a nice, streamline look.

Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Bulldog adjustable trailer coupler. It's gonna be a collar lock style. It's gonna be ideal for your livestock trailers. Also your horse trailers, and even the construction trailers you may be hauling around. What makes this better than some of the other ones is the amount of movement that you get. Whenever I am hauling around the horses, sometimes it's pretty uneven terrain.
This one's a two inch and it gives us plenty of travel, once we engage with the lock right there. This is a lot more than your standard coupler. So it's definitely for those more uneven terrains and it's super, super strong. The two inch version is gonna give us, pull this out real quick. The two inch version is gonna give us a 7,000 pound gross trailer weight rating.
So match that up with your trailer and what you plan on putting on it. And that's for a two inch ball, but we also have a two and five sixteenths inch ball, which goes all the way up to 12,500 pounds. So get an idea of how much stuff you're putting on your trailer and make sure that you pair it up with the right ball size that you have on your vehicle. All you're gonna need to be able to use a adjustable trailer coupler is this channel right here. If you have one already, you just measure in between the two, you wanna make sure that it's gonna have a gap of three inches.
The holes are gonna be five eighths of an inch in diameter. And then also, you just wanna make sure that they're spaced out two inches apart from center to center of each hole, and then it's gonna fit. It comes with all the hardware. And if you come in pretty close, I do like this hardware. Sometimes you have the longer bolts, so you only have two.
This seems like it's gonna be a lot more work, but it's actually not. So notice how the nuts are recessed in there. So you don't have to have a wrench inside there to get it fully tightened down. I really do appreciate that design. It didn't take me a whole lot of time to install it. The hardware provided is grade five, which is gonna be a little bit stronger than just your standard bolts. It's gonna come with a bolt, a lock washer, and then a lock nut on the other end. And all you need to do is grab a 24 millimeter socket to lock it down and a torque wrench to torque it down to spec. Depending on what size you go with, whether it's a two inch or the two and five sixteenths, they're the exact same. So when it comes to measurements, the overall length of it's gonna be 10 inches. And then let's just do a measurement from the center of our mounting holes to the center of the ball. And that, I'd say, is about seven and a quarter inches. I've dealt with a lot of these couplers. One thing I noticed about the Bulldog is it has a little bit stronger springs than some of the other ones. So if you are going to use your hands, watch them, because this sleeve comes back pretty quickly. I recommend just having a mallet. So whenever you load up, let's say like this, put it in there, this is just gonna keep your hands safe, but you can also just use your foot. And then whenever we're done, you have a little pin here, which the length's gonna be about two and a quarter inches long. So if you wanted to get a locking pin for it, just make sure it's gonna be able to fit with that span. And then you put that in there and it's not gonna come undone. I do like how they connected it with the little chain 'cause I always lose these, so I really do appreciate that. But this thing is a really good amount because you can just see that it's locked in. It gives you a visual little representation that it's actually closed in and it's so tough to get back. So, I don't think this thing's coming undone. It's gonna give me peace of mind whenever I hook up. If you're gonna go with the Bulldog adjustable trailer coupler, there is something I recommend and that is a lock. We can do two different things. You can either get a lock that we designed that'll go through at this point right here if you want, or there's another lock that is designed specifically for this, and it's gonna go and cover this whole entire section. So definitely lock it up, especially if you're on the job site, you want your trailer to be there in the morning. So, definitely add that to your cart. At the end of the day, I think these have a little bit stronger springs than some of the other ones that we worked with, whether that's something you're looking for or not. I think most of these are pretty much the same exact thing. You just wanna make sure it's not going to be rated for less than what's gonna be on your trailer. So take that into account whenever you're picking which one but I do think the Bulldog adjustable trailer coupler is gonna be a great option for you..

Quality products
After years of just using the trailer on the farm I wanted to make it road worthy.
The hitch (Bulldog) and wiring harness were the last two items I needed to get it rolling again.
The best coupler we have used for our construction business. I have been using these for 14 years now without any problems. We replace them every 5 years at about 160,000 miles when we purchase new trailers. I currently need three now but they have been out of stock for several months. Still waiting for new stock to arrive so I can order. I feel safe with this type coupler and my employees also like the security it provides.
We are a large whitewater rafting company and use Bulldog couplers on all our trailers, hauling boats to and back from the river. We've never had issues with any of them and I'd absolutely recommend this particular product. They are easy to install, easy to operate, and last forever, even in the grueling Arizona climate.
Really fast shipping, install only took 15 min, and much more solid than the original coupler on the trailer that used two long bolts (which wore and caused the holes to get oblong making the connection to the trailer sloppy), as compared to the four bolts provided with the new coupler.
Like that it is a heavy duty hitch, like the way it locks and attaches to the ball. Don't like that is doesn't have a handle/lever on the collar to push it on or pull it off.
Ordered multiple parts everything fit together perfectly.
Overall from ordering to shipping was a great experience.
Thanks etrailer
Awesome service! Right parts! Good job etrailer.
Great hitch and a decent price with EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE.
Installed on a 2000lb wood chipper. Extremely heavy duty. Four bolts completely eliminate the noise. Would definitely buy again.

Great hitch great customer service
good product ,good price, very fast shipping, was suprised
Good quality hitch.
Works Great
Replacing rusted old style coupler.Bolted it on with 1/2 inch grade8 bolts. These are easy to use and more secure.no guessing if its on the ball .only drawback was having delivered by usps, came a week late.
Produced is depicted having a lunch pin to secure item in the locked position. It arrived with only a cotter pin which I will not use out of safety concerns.
My opinion a Bull Dog hitch is the only good trailer hitch on the market
This is how I received my merchandise I was lucky the part was still
In side the box
Collar lock couplers are the way to go for hook up and trailer safety. Will get new collar lock welded on and send pics of my upgrade.
LOVE this Bulldog hitch! I welded it to my new custom built motorcycle trailer and I will never go back to the other kind again. So much easier to get a positive connection. I also like the integrated lock hole in the latch. It's definitely worth the money.
I bought this old really cheap to rebuild. One of the parts that had to be replaced was the hitch, I towed it home with my fingers crossed. I googled trailer hitch, trailer and etrailer was one of the sites that was suggested. I had to find a hitch that fit the 3 1/2" pipe that was the tongue, voila there it was to my amazement. I ordered it right then, 4 days later it was delivered yesterday. Today I mounted it, it was an easy installation and I am really pleased with the hitch and install. My fears of losing a trailer are now history, tomorrow it gets tested with 1 1/2 yards of gravel for the slab for my new. shop
Great first class online high quality. My excavation business requires many trailers to maintain or update.
Much better fit than the older two bolt Bulldog coupler that it replaced. Great service as always from etrailer!
Receiver worked perfect with 3” square tube
