Note: (4) 5/8" Grade 5 mounting bolts must be used to achieve the 21,000-lb weight capacity
This coupler features a simple-to-use latching mechanism known as the eZ-Latch. With this mechanism, hooking up is as easy as dropping the coupler over your trailer hitch ball. The latch does not need to be tugged or manually activated to allow the ball into the coupler socket, nor does it have to be secured in place. Just make sure that the coupler is properly lined up with the ball when you lower it, and the rest is automatic. Disengaging the coupler is just as effortless. Simply lift up the handle and the coupler socket will automatically release its grip on the ball.
Unlike most couplers, which only have a pin hole on the handle latch, the eZ-Latch coupler features a hole on the latch and on the side of the coupler itself. Inserting a coupler lock through this hole will keep the latch from lifting, preventing disconnect and theft.
Made of sturdy steel, this coupler features a durable zinc coating that is designed to limit rust and corrosion. This finish has a 300-hour salt spray rating, allowing it to stand up to the elements.

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this Demco Easy Latch, two and five 16th inch ball, adjustable channel cast trailer coupler. Has a 21,000 pound weight capacity and a zinc finish. Now this is a cast ball coupler, which will install into a three inch wide adjustable channel mount. And it'll let you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle. Provides the connection point right here for your two and five 16th inch diameter hitch ball.
It is a bolt on installation. Basically this cup's a channel mount design, so it allows it to attach to an adjustable channel mount. Now the channel bracket, it goes in and the mounting hardware for it is all sold separately. This is an adjustable channel mount design, so it lets you change the coupler's height, depending on the application. What's nice, this uses the new Easy Latch mechanism, so it ensures a nice, simple, secure hookup and disconnect.
Basically what's nice is this'll let you hook up when the latch is in the closed position like it is now. All you have to do is just drop the coupler over the hitch ball and the latch will snap into place and hold everything together. I did wanna demonstrate that for you. I happen to pull, there's a two and five 16th diameter ball, so you can see when you take your trailer tongue and put the coupler over the ball, push down on it, you notice how it goes down over it and it's locked into place, you're ready to go. To release it, just lift this up all the way and it'll come off the ball, put it back down, and you're ready to attach again.
So it saves you this hassle of having to keep opening it and closing it to attach it. And also the nice feature is it's a sleek low profile design, so it'll allow any hazards to just simply slip over the top of the coupler, preventing any damage to any latch components. Your couplers have the tall latch on it and they can get damaged. This one, they'll go right over it. Also, unlike most couplers, which have the pinhole on that handle latch, this Easy Latch coupler features this five 16ths diameter hole right here on the side of the coupler itself.
That's where you'll put your coupler lock. We do sell those separate on our website. Inserting a coupler lock through this hole, keeps the latch from lifting and prevents disconnect and theft. The diameter of the lock pin hole is five sixteenths of an inch. And then when you get a coupler lock, you do wanna make sure it has a minimum span of three inches. This is a sturdy steel construction, we mentioned, has a zinc finish to it, so it offers corrosion resistance. Meets a 300 hour salt spray rating. It is SAEJ 684 certified. It is made in the USA and again, the weight capacity on this is 21,000 pounds. But that should do it for a look at the Stemco Easy Latch two and five 16th inch ball adjustable channel cast trailer coupler.

Cast ball coupler is made of sturdy steel and has a durable zinc finish. Metal eZ-Latch ensures fast, easy, secure hookup and disconnect. Adjustable channel bracket and mounting hardware sold separately.Hitch works great, almost no chance of user error, very positive coupling with min. play on the ball. Zinc plate is thick and uniform. No chance to damage the paw it's very robust.
I did have to drill the lock pin holes with 8mm bit because a 5/16" hasp on the lock was to tight.
great service
Very nice coupler for the right price!
awesome product
Great product and was delivered as prom ised
Perfect addition to my new trailer. The original junk coupler was a pita to use.Had to use free hand to hold lock back while jacking up to remove trailer from truck.Honestly looking forward to using the trailer now.
I borrowed a trailer last year equipped with the Demco and it was my first experiance with it and I loved it so I bought one.I like the release handle yea its plastic but honestly dont see how a person could break it but Im sure it will be done but not on my trailer
Also like the fact that it will latch with lever down It does have hole for safety pin which I bought from local trailer shop.I encourage anyone looking at these couplers to watch Demcos YT video
Awesome coupler!!! Lookin for a robust coupler…. Look no further!
Solid construction, simple and nearly foolproof latching mechanism. Definitely an upgrade from the Apex coupler that came with my trailer.
One recommendation I have is that when installing this coupler (or most any coupler) in your trailer's C-channel, check the side play inside the channel and add a washer or two between channel and coupler to remove the slack space and get a solid fit.
We have four trailers, all got converted to these couplers. Four bolts is a much better design than just two. Even my dad (who hates change overall) said, "These couplers are way better than the old style." They release easy and snap right into place. No complaints at all. We'll never go back.
The coupler that came with our teardrop did the job, but getting hooked up and secure on the ball was a real pain that would take multiple attempts to reposition it before it dropped fully in place. I like the Demco eZ-latch. So much better. I uploaded 3 photos: 1) original coupler, 2) trailer frame with new holes drilled and old holes filled with Bondo, 3) Demco coupler in place. The changeover was very easy.
Very good quality, construction, and finish. This was used to replace a 5000# rated coupler on my RV trailer that was just not strong enough. It has an extra 2-3" of length than the old coupler so make sure your safety chains have enough length to accommodate the extra length. One bonus for me was that the extra length was just enough to allow me to open the back door of my SUV with the trailer hitched (which I couldn't do before). The DEMCO coupler does take a 2 1/2" wide hitch pin /lock which is different than most couplers.
Coupler appears to be well built. I'm certain that 5 stars is deserved. I may update my review later, but first I need to make the coupler work on my "not standard trailer".
Packaging efforts need to be stepped up a bit. I've seen other comments stating the same.
WEll it fit, I had to eliminate the electric brake but I only tow it twice a year to the marina and back, about a total of 25 miles. It works . Better then paying $500 for the whole package with the electric brake.
Great upgrade to my heavy trailers. Would be 5 stars if the locking pin hole would accept a larger diameter lock or a padlock.
It is the best used yo have a the older style i was always worried if it had latched correctly but with this latch system I dont have to do anything i dont even have to see it i can just hear it click when its latching on its own and i know its right dont forget to buy the pin for it i have actually bought two one for each of my trailers
Really satisfied with the fit as well as the function of the latch. It gives me piece of mind with my 18 ft tractor hauler. 5 stars if the 6 bolts would have been includdd
I really like this coupler! Very easy to use, no more fighting to decouple my equipment trailer. Simple to hook up.
When my old coupler failed I was very happy to find a bolt on coupler this heavy as most are weld on for a trailer this heavy. I wish I would have changed the coupler years ago. I always had trouble with the old one. This one is so easy to latch and unlatch from my truck. It is great quality.
The hitch is excellent for our 14,000lb equipment trailer.
Only issue is the hole for the padlock was too small for any locks and we drilled it out to accommodate one.
Con- Shipping was not very good. It was returned to the dealer twice because it was sent via United Postal Service and our shop has not Post office box. Only a location address. The USPS does not take packages to our location. We could not seem to get the package sent via UPS or FedEx to us.
Only time this has happened when ordering from etrailer.
The ease of latching and not having to lift the latch handle is very nice and unlachine it's a breeze, works very well very happy with the coupler
