Lock for hitch pin is like most all of them, very loose fitting and rattles on the receiver (annoying) prior to my creative use of some padding.
The integrated bike locks are pretty useless. The locks stick out from the hook arm instead of being seated fully inside and being less obvious to a passerby. The cable is far too short to effectively lock the bike with. Couldn't fit around my frame(s) in any way. I got it around just the fork alright and with a lot of straining got it to fit around the front tire and fork for whatever security it's probably capable of. Fumbling with your key and the locking mechanism while holding the cable inside is just annoying.
You will not avoid being a nice 6-8' cable to really secure bikes well. My 7' cable with 2 paddocks works well to secure both tires and frames of 2 bikes to the rack and the rack to the receiver.
The locking hitch pin is some added security, but janky. The integrated bike locks are a waste of engineering thought and not worth any money.
I was disappointed with shipping. Although I found this product on Etrailer.com after several other vendors indicated being out of stock with it. I ordered the lock kit only from etrailer at the same time that I ordered my rack from another vendor (offering a lower price than etrailer), both with standard shipping. The lock kit arrived a week after the rack. I was glad that I didn't order the rack from etrailer.
On a good note, etrailer customer service appears to genuinely care in at least some way. I continually received emails regarding ordering and shipping status. Then received an invitation to take this survey, indicating that they want to learn how to improve with each customers input. So, maybe this is a good test for etrailer. The ball is in your court, watcha' gonna do?
Excellent looks for kuat transfer bike rack.
put the locks on my rack and they went on with no problem. The locks will be good to leave the bikes on going t a store but not for over night.
I do like the lock for the hitch pin.
Super easy to install in the Kuat rack system. So convenient to use that I lock by bike up more often than I would if it was difficult.
We could not be happier with our Kuat bike platform rack and the locks that we bought to go with it. Combined, it has to be the easiest and safest way to transport our bikes I have ever seen. The quality is excellent and the ease of use of both the bike rack and the locks is perfect. I give these products our highest recommendation!
Richard L - 07/26/2021Product was packed great. Easily assembled and installed into my hitch. Bike is easy to install onto the rack and bike is secured during transport. I have a SUV and it is very easy to tilt the rack with bike on rack to open the rear hatch. Would recommend this rack to everyone. The price is very reasonable.
The Kuat bike lock system is the best available tool on the to keep your bikes safe from theft. I can now leave my bikes locked on the rack and feel secure knowing that they will be safe even overnight while on vacation. Highly recommend this product.
I purchased the Kuat Bike Lock kit for my Kuat 1 bike carrier to help lock it down for short periods. The folks at etrailer.com sent it very quickly. Installation was a breeze. the lock kit tucks into each bikes carrier. The thickness of the cable is not the best so i would not leave a bike on their overnight in a hotel parking lot , but fine for quick times away from the car.
Ira C - 07/05/2021Couldn't be happier with these replacement locks for the Kuat Transfer 2 that I bought used and needed to repair. The new lock for the rack itself to make sure I only needed one key for the entire set up was super convenient, and I'll definitely get many more years of use out of it now with my bikes secure. Installation instructions were simple, but all I needed to replace the old locks (damaged by salt during winter driving) - new hardware and the needed hex key were included too. Great customer service and quick shipping from etrailer as well.
Love these locks! Their built right into my bike rack, so I never have to worry about finding my lock. And they work great! could be a bit longer to get around the bike easier... but it works! Nice to feel at ease about leaving the bikes on the car when parked around town.
This product, which is both a hitch lock and a bike lock for the Kuat Trannsfer 2 is excellent. The hitch lock mates to the OEM Kuat hitch pin, and the bike locks are a very clever design which allow you to have them permamently a part of the rack, hidden under the tube frame when not needed.
The folks at ETrailer did a very good job of keeping me informed of the order status. These Kuat products are in early production and hard to obtain. ETrailer kept me up to date.
Rob J - 10/01/2016They work well. the hard plastic connector intended to help store this on your bike seat is a little annoying and hard to get off (I had to cut it with a roto-zip). But once its off, its nice to have a short cable to connect my rack to my hitch, and to connect my bike to my rack.
I've have my Kuat transfer 2 bike rack cable locks for a year now. I am more than satisfied with this product. It is easy to install and easy to use. I would recommend it to others.
It came quite quick via shipment. Good price, great product, and excellent service.

I love my new Kuat bike rack Transfer 2 - but I wasn't about to spend that kind of money on a bike rack only to have some jackwagon steal it. I purchased the lock kit for the hitch lock, but there are also some cable locks I can install for locking the bike to the rack. While I wouldn't leave the rack on the back of the car overnight in a dark parking lot, I think it's pretty safe to say that with average use, it isn't going to walk away. The bikes - I'd never leave on the car overnight with the locks, but the cable locks would certainly deter your passerby from snatching your bike during the daytime.
The rack is SO easy to use - it would be simple to remove an unlocked bike and ride off into the sunset without anyone noticing. Definitely buy the lock for the trailer and the bikes. It's a small investment for something that would be pretty simple to steal.
This is the perfect accessory for your expensive Kuat rack because it keeps it locked to your hitch and locks your bikes to the rack. Its got a single key for everything so no need to fumble around for another key in the dark or when youre unloading a bunch of stuff. I had to give only four stars because I do have a small gripe with it. the cable length for the lock is too short to be super useful. I get it that the cable can only be as long as the wheel hanger by design but that only allows you to lock the head tube by itself rather than the wheel AND the headtube for added security. Im afraid one day ill come out from lunch an only have a frame left. Not really because I have an old cable lock to use but still would be nice if it was longer! Nevertheless, I love my rack and would still buy this.
Wanted a tray rack for my carbon fiber mountain bike, the Kuat Transfer 2 fit the bill and didnt break the bank . Im very pleased with it so far about a 250 mile round trip with no issues. I will say the locking cables a a bit cheesy but I will just add my own when the need arises.
Excellent experience. Communication was great; I was informed when the order was accepted, shipped and when I received the parcel. The Kuat cable locks and hitch lock (PTSCLK12) for the Kuat Transfer 2 Bike Rack was in stock and shipped immediately at a reasonable price. The system arrived quickly and safely. It was installed with ease. Although installation was simple, there was a video on the etrailer.com website describing the steps. I appreciate the convenience of the “hidden” lock ends and cable during transport and singular key. One thing I found unusual was the supplied “security bolt” (Torx head cap screw) did not secure the lock end cap as tightly as the original socket head cap screw (I think due to the smaller head size), so I just used the original screw.
This product gives the impression that the bikes are locked down, but the part that holds the cable in the rack is only held in by two small screws, that screw into plastic.
Pro: it does give you a piece of mind knowing that if the bike rack malfunctions and your bike gets loose, the cable will keep your bike secure on the rack until you can pull over and fix the bike rack.
Excellent product.
If you need to leave your bikes in the trailer and go inside a shop or restaurant. YOU can do it without fear that thwy will be stolen.

Gustavo V - 04/21/2021This lock kit arrived promptly, installed easily and worked really nicely on our first out-of-town trip with our new Kuat Transfer 2 rack. As someone else mentioned, it seemed foolish to invest in this nice new rack and then risk someone with a crescent wrench in their hip pocket being able to walk away with it. I was a little worried that the hitch lock, which just sort of dangles, would vibrate but it didn't seem to. The cable locks are really slick, the way they store out of sight and deploy very quickly as needed. There would be cheaper alternatives, but for us, the convenience factor made this the best choice.

The Kuat bike locks are outstanding. They were easy to install on my new Kuat Transfer 2 bike rack and are made of quality material. The instructions are easy to follow and all the needed hardware is included. I am impressed with the Kuat brand as I see nothing but quality products and workmanship! etrailer Co provided great customer service, great prices and follow up communications!
