Video Transcript for Review of Jif Marine Boat Ladders - Transom Ladder - JIF23FR

Ellen: Hey, everybody. I'm Ellen here at, and we're taking a quick look at the Transom Ladder for your boats. This makes it easy to get in and out of the water, and it allows you to also bring this up whenever it's not in use so you can keep that out of the way. Now, you might notice that there's a bit of movement in the joints of this. I just have everything very loosely installed since this uses lock nuts. I don't want to ruin them for the customer who's going to get this, but it does come with that hardware.

It is stainless steel, so you don't have to worry about any rust. The ladder itself is made out of aluminum, so great for any kind of water use, both saltwater and fresh.Whenever you have it in this stored position, it does have a little strap to go around the mounting position to keep that secure, so it should do a fairly good job to keep that up and out of the water. This is available in a three-step, as you see it. It's also available as a two-step, so just if you're interested in that, it would basically be minus one step there. All in all, I think this is a pretty nice little guy, should be pretty easy to get installed.

You've got two brackets to worry about. It does not come with mounting hardware, so that is something that you would have to provide on your own.If we take another look at it, you can kind of get a little bit closer view of the stairs and see that hinge joint. So that just helps it to flip up and over to get out of the way. As far as measurements with this, if we go from the top of the ladder to the bottom-most portion, it's about 34 inches in total for the three-step version. The two-step would be about 10 inches shorter, so that'd be about 24 inches in total length.

So going right there. The distance, the outermost edge of this, so the widest point, is about 12 and a quarter inch wide. The rungs of the ladder are about two and a half inches deep. The distance that this comes out from the mounting surface, whenever it's extended out like this, is about six inches, maybe closer to six and three quarter if we go to the edge of the steps there. And then you need to have about 12 inches for the mounting hardware on your transom, and about eight inches, top to bottom. You can kind of adjust this.

It will accommodate for different surfaces. So if it's not completely level, it'll still work. These do pivot around. So you've got some options as far as how that'll work. But again, it does men to go on the transom of your boat, so it's that back panel, and to be flush-mounted.I don't really think it would be able to come up and over an edge like this or a corner. So it would have to kind of be below the ledge. As far as the inner width the rungs, just to give you an idea, you got about nine inches of space there. This does have a weight capacity of 250 pounds, and it is covered by a two year limited warranty. As far as the distance from the top of that mounting position to the top of the steps or to the end there, so how far up it extends from that mounting position, for the three-step you'd get about 18 inches. I'll get you to actually see that. About 18 inches of space above the mounting position. If we we're to go to the two-step, it'd be about eight inches above where that's mounted. So I hope that gives you an idea if this is going to work for you. Like I said, I think it's pretty easy to use, pretty easy to get installed. It's nice that it's made of those corrosion-resistant materials or corrosion-proof materials. So it should last you a long time. We do have other styles of ladders available here at, so if you need anything else, we should have you covered. Hope I've answered all your questions. Our goal is always to give you the best information possible so you can make the right choice the first time. I'm Ellen with Thanks for watching.
