Jeff: Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a look at this Jif Marine Aluminum Four Step Folding Pontoon Ladder, has a 300 pound weight capacity. Now this four step pontoon ladder lets easily climb aboard your pontoon boat. It is a nice foldable design you can see here, it allows for easy storage and it is a lightweight, rustproof aluminum construction. It only weighs about eight pounds.
Now they do use plastic steps which are injection molded and UV resistant. And to install this, it's a very easy installation or removal with the included plastic cup mounts right here and the hardware. And just to show you for this demonstration, we've put a piece of two by four in here and drilled some holes in it just to give you an idea, if this was your pontoon, how this ladder would install. So basically what you would do is take these cup mounts, put them into the holes and then use your included screws and to hold it down into place, attach the cup mounts. And then what you'll do is you'll take the ladder. You can see it's foldable.
So just unfold it just like that. And you have the two hooks at the top and they'll just line up with your holes. Once you get it lined up and it attaches and then you can see the two bottom braces here with the rubber bumpers on it'll go up against the boat and it secures it into place. And then to use the ladder, it clips onto the sides right here. All you have to do is pull it. And when you pull it hard enough, it'll just release.
And then you can see the two other steps will flop down, and then you're ready to go. There's your four step folding ladder, all completely ready to use.And then again, just to fold it up into place, you can store it just like that. And then if you want to completely take it off, you just take it off like that, fold it, and then you can carry it around just like that.So what I want to do now is I want to give you some dimensions. We're going to hook it back up and we'll pull the unit open all the way. And with it completely open, we'll do some measurements.
Now the weight capacity on this we've mentioned is 300 pounds. Now the overall height we're going to measure from the bottom step all the way to the top to where it turns is going to be right at about 44 and a half inches. Overall width, the widest part is where this step is. So the overall with is 15 and a half inches. The depth of the step itself is about two and a quarter inches. The rung spacing, in other words, the distance between each step, we put a ruler and it's going to be right at 10 inches. And the depth of the hooks up here to the hook to your pontoon boat is going to be right at about six inches. Total weight again is about eight pounds. Now this is a four step ladder. It also is available, we do sell it in a aluminum five-step folding ladder. It's part number JIF48FR, and it's just like that. It just adds another step. But again, just to show you, we'll close it just like that, then lift it out and then just hold it together and you can store it, transport it just like this. But that should do it for the review on the Jif Marine Aluminum Four Step Folding Pontoon Ladder with the 300 pound weight capacity.

This sturdy, 4-step ladder lets you climb aboard your pontoon boat and fold it up and lock it once you're out of the water. Aluminum construction is rustproof. Durable plastic steps resist UV damage. The ladder is durable and has withstood many boardings from the water. It is nice that it folds and the arms swing inward so that it can lay flat. Works nice for storing and tucking out of the way when not in use. It does tend to want to pivot or rock side to side when in use while trying to climb it. It would be nice if it had some sort of locking mechanism to prevent that when it is deployed and in use.
Ladder was easy to install and works gr eat.
Works well
The Ladder itself is excellent. There was a problem with the screws provided. The instructions did not give a size of pilot hole to use. But I did predrill a hole. upon install the screw snaps off and I had to remove it. Again, I up sized the pilot hole and the screw snaped again. this time I had to use a small pipe wrench to extract it. I threw the screws away and purchase better grade screws to use. It was a lot of unnecessary work because of inferior screws. I would recommend just not using them.
Bought for my mom and dad who have knee problems. The 5th step makes it much more easy for them to get back onto the boat. Highly recommend this product.
It works perfect for our pontoon boat!!! We are super happy about it!!
