Hi there boat trailer owners. Today, we're going to be taking a look at CE Smith's replacement keel roller rods. And this is what our replacement roller rod's going to look like. These are available in either two different diameters, whether it be five eighths, like we have here or half inch, you just want to match it up to your old one. And they're also available in varying lengths. So that way you can get the proper span for your particular trailer.
And all of them are zinc coated to protect them from rusting corrosion, which is very common on your boat trailers since you're pulling it in and out of the boat dock all the time, you're next to the Lake. They often get wet. So this way we can ensure that we're going to have long lasting operation of this rod, and it's not going to seize up inside of here due to rust and corrosion. Also included with it you'll receive cap nuts for each side of your rod. And these are nice because once you press them on there, they're pretty much a permanent fit, you have to really try to get them off of there. And since this is a roller, it doesn't ever really get forces side to side, but we don't want to use regular thread on nuts on something like this since it does roll.
That could potentially cause the nuts to back off. So this is an ideal solution. If your old keel roller or keel roller rod are worn out and need replacement, the replacement shaft here is going to be a great option for you because it's kind of a one use thing, unless you can get yourself some new cap nuts. And even if you do get new cabinets, if it's heavily corroded and worn down, those cap nuts may not fit as tight and as properly as they used to.So when replacing your keel roller, when it's wore out, I highly recommend also replacing the keel roller rod. The rod is going to be made of solid steel with a zinc coating.
So it's going to be extremely durable holding up the weight that is pressed down from the boat sitting on it there. And the zinc coat is going to protect it against rust and corrosion. If your keel roller is worn out. And that's why you're looking at getting replacements. We also carry the keel rollers here at etrailer.com.
So you can get a set up just like this. You can see how nice and smooth it is, and we've got a nice surface for our boat to rest on.Today we're going to be replacing the keel roller's shaft because our key roller's all damaged up and in order to get the roller off, we have to take the shaft out and the nuts typically get damaged and are not reusable. So we're just going to be replacing it all as an assembly. Start by removing our roller's nuts. We're just going to get behind it with a pair of pliers. We're just going to pop that cap off of there. inaudible 00:02:18. Our shaft will then slide out. We can remove our roller and then install our new components. We've got our shaft here and I find it easier to get one cap nut on first. So we're just going to set that on top and we're just going to hammer it into place. I'm going to use a rubber mallet just to help minimize how much dings I make on the little cap. And it's really that simple. And you can see here, there's no way I'm going to push this off. If I wanted to get this off of here, I would almost have to take another hammer and smash it off of there because you're just not going to be able to pull it off. Now we can just take our roller. We're going to set it into place. Slide our rod all the way through the roller, until it comes out on the other side. We'll then take our cap, we're going to set it into place. Now that we got it just barely started. We're going to finish tapping it on. I'm going to use a hammer on the other side, because it might hurt your hip or something else if you're holding it. And we can see our shaft spins, our roller spins and it's nice and solid, it's not going anywhere. Thought you need a hatchet. And that completes our look at CE Smith's replacement keel roller rods.

5-1/4" Long x 5/8" diameter steel shaft for 4" rollers replaces a worn-out roller shaft on your boat trailer. Includes 2 pal nuts for mounting.I try to buy USA prodoucts & CE Smith Co. makes it with quality. At this time I`m restoring a small boat trailer, & alum. boat.
Arrived fast and good quality. For easy install I used a large C-clamp to put the caps on pin. Works Great!
I have a low hanging tool box off the back of my motorhome tow vehicle. I am mounting a wheel to keep it from scraping. Etrailer is a good vendor, good products, good followup, and fast shipping.
Utilized several products purchased from etrailer while building a double trailer for two sneak boxes. etrailer always had the products I needed in stock, delivery was prompt and their service/follow up was excellent. I will not hesitate to continue to purchase from them in the future.
Bought for a spare, when I need to replace a roller. Looks like it will work fine.

Overall it's fine but the package was bent (apparently to fit in the box) and cracked open and one of the nuts is missing.
Shipping was timely.

All 3 items were delivered sooner than expected and seem to be quality items. The roller shaft is a little longer than I needed, but it's not an issue. All in all good service.

5’ roller bunks were shipped in a larger box that was only 58 1/2” long.. rollers were bent at 44”.. called customer service and they are shipping a new set, unfortunately a project is delayed because of an 1 1/2”. Products appear to be of higher quality, just the way it was shipped may need to be addressed. The box the bunks were in was also in a severe state of disrepair, one end appeared to have been torn open along with several other tears in the back that to have originate from poor handling in the warehouse. I have photos however, they will not upload successfully. I will be happy to email them if needed.

Order was received earlier than anticipated. The 19” roller shaft was too short. I did not realize it had to be longer to accept the outer roller. Overall excellent.

Put in an order with several items I needed, so it came to over $99 so I get free shipping. 2 of my items were not in stock, But I needed the other items. They made me cancel the first order, then submit another with the in-stock items. I came to under $99 so I had to pay shipping. etrailer would not just send me what they had in stock and the rest later with free shipping. Not very consumer friendly.

The order came faster than expected, and I'm glad I found your site. Although the items I got are not intended for what they are advertised as ( boat trailer loading wheels ) they will be perfect for my application - "welding cart"
