Guide Your Boat Into and Out of the Water

When your boat trailer has been backed down the ramp and is partially submerged, these 65" tall guideposts that are mounted on the rear corners of the frame will stick out of the water, giving you 2 highly visible targets to guide your boat between for loading. The PVC posts also provide a visual aid to help you back your boat trailer down the ramp when you're unloading your boat.

Installation

The posts are simple to install. Slide the PVC posts over the galvanized steel support posts. Then use the included U-bolt hardware to mount the posts on top of or below the trailer frame, as close to the rear corners as possible. Adjust the posts so that the distance between each post and your boat is less than 1 inch.

Galvanized Steel

Galvanized steel parts are hot-dipped in zinc after being stamped. This creates a coating that is typically 3 mil to 5 mil thick. This thick, all-around coating allows galvanized steel products to provide years of use without rusting or corroding.

The guide 65” poles/markers on the CE Smith # CE27637 Guide Ons are only meant as markers to show you where the trailer is. While they can endure some pressure in relation to a straight on approach, off angle pressure which can occur with water currents, high wind, and off angle approaches, can cause damage to the guide poles and/or brackets. I do have an alternative for you since the u-bolts included with the CE Smith Post-Style Guide-Ons # CE27637 will only fit up to a 5-1/4" tall frame. I checked with my contact at CE Smith about the posts of the CE Smith Post-Style Guide-Ons # CE27637 that you referenced and they informed me that the metal uprights of this are 11 gauge steel, the upright is a 90 degree tube, 41-1/2 inches long (top to the bend), bottom bend of tube is 21”.

Converting CE Smith Post-Style Guide-Ons to Fit a Boat Trailer With 2" Mounting Brackets
The CE Smith Post-Style Guide-Ons are the only style we carry with a square steel tubing. These are all going to be the 1-1/2" square tubing. You can still use a set like the Set # CE27637 with your trailer that has the 2" mounting tubes if you sleeve the tubing. You can find some steel tubing from a local steel supply that is 1-1/2" internal and 2" external to weld onto the tubing.

The 40" Tall CE Smith Post-Style Guide-Ons # CE27620 come with mounting hardware that bolts around your trailer frame, but since these won't have anything to do with the structural integrity of your trailer you can really mount them however you see fit.
