Today we are going to review part number YR12244-125EC. This is the Yates Keel Roller. This is keel roller is constructed of a heavy-duty rubber compound. It does include heavy-duty nylon bushings on both ends. This will replace one keel roller on your boat trailer that uses a standard 12-inch wide bracket with a 5/8 inch diameter shaft. This keel roller will ease the loading and unloading of the boat and will support the bottom of the boat as it sits on the trailer and it does help absorb road shock while the boat is being towed.
This roller is made in the USA. I will get a few dimensions for you. The overall width of this is 11-3/4 inches long and the diameter on this will be 3-3/4. Again, this is designed to go on to a 12-inch wide bracket with a 5/8-inch diameter shaft. And that should do it for part number YR12244-125EC.

It’s so mucher shorter then the old one .
So I’m disappointed after calling Yates MtG directly and was told to order from etrailer that it was the 12” correct one . Well it’s short and wrong .

It sounds like you did you due diligence in research before ordering. The keel roller that you received should be 11.75 inches long and 3.75 inches in diameter to fit with a 12-inch-long bracket with five eighths inch shaft. How long is your bracket? If you just have a half inch gap between the roller and the bracket, then that is ok. There can be a little space however just make sure it is not more than one half of an inch.
As described .. it was an easy installation on my sailboat trailer.
- Used a 2x8 under the boat keel ... and my floor jack.
- raised the boat about 1 inch off the rollers.
- removed the bracket and the keel rollers
- A large hammer was used to drive the roller shaft out
- Brackets, shafts (zinc coated) and rollers were reinstalled on trailer
- Boat can now be launched with ease !
I purchased three of the 12" keel rollers as replacements for a 37-year-old Trail-Rite trailer. Shims were required on the non-adjustable brackets, but I knew that going in. So far, so good. No more black streak on hull from oxidized and poorly-rotating rollers. Boat is 18'fiberglass cabin cruiser.
Repairing a tandem axle boat trailer for 1987 Grady White, I found the keel roller, shaft, and guide rollers on back had deteriorated. Locally I could only find the "Heavy Duty," but needed the Super Heavy Duty. After a couple of failed attempts locally, I found the necessary items on eTrailer and had them delivered to my door-- promptly. Further, right before ordering I noticed a flat tire. Although I was able to get a new one mounted on that galvanized rim locally, I decided a spare would increase my comfort level when towing, so had one included in the eTrailer order. Now ready for fishing season.
Great service and surprising follow up to make sure the product was delivered ok. I followed up this purchase by ordering trailer drums, brakes, and hydraulic actuator for my boat trailer.
I am new (again) to boating, and being on the frugal side, always want to compare products that I purchase. Thought I could deal local (you know, support your local economy and all), but when actually given the chance, they could not (or would not) even come close! etrailer sells the same top-quality products at prices that couldn't be touched by local suppliers.

The quality of this product appears to be excellent. I am however having difficulty locating an accompanying shaft of the correct length to fit my trailer. Most shafts appear to be a maximum length of 13 1/4 inches, which is too short for the prefabricated bracket on my trailer.
I ordered replacement u bolts, leaf springs and keel roller. Everything was an exact replacement part. This makes repairs/upgrade easy direct parts replacement. No modifying at all.
They work great boat sits much better on the trailer. So much better than the rusty bent up old ones.
Replaced my 20 yr old cracked Yates 12244 roller with this new version. Perfect fit. Hope to get another 20 years.

At first I ordered the wrong roller, had to return it after I took the time to notice the Yale 2244 number on the side of my existing rollers! Had no issues installing these new rollers, should make retrieving my boat a lot easier!
