  • Made in the USA

Specs:

  • Application: trailers with hydraulic drum brakes
  • Ball size: 2"
  • Gross towing weight: 8,000 lbs
  • Maximum tongue weight: 800 lbs
  • Mounting: straight, 3" wide trailer tongue
  • Model number: DA91
  • 1-Year warranty

Note: Because this actuator does not include a reverse lockout, it is recommended that you equip your trailer with free-backing brakes so that you can drive in reverse without the actuator triggering your trailer's brakes.

When you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, deceleration occurs and momentum pushes your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. With surge brake systems, the hydraulic actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward, once your tow vehicle starts to slow down. When this happens, the actuator contracts, applying force to its master cylinder. This in turn supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage your trailer's brakes.

Sturdy, Corrosion-Resistant Construction

Made of sturdy steel, this hydraulic trailer brake actuator features a durable zinc coating that is designed to limit rust and corrosion. This zinc coat has a 200-hour salt spray rating. In addition, the composite master cylinder is made of corrosion-resistant glass-reinforced nylon to further ensure durability.

Excellent!, wonderful

by:

Item is heavy duty and well made. It fit perfectly over my 3" trailer tongue (after much grinding to remove the old welded-on actuator).
Item could have been better packed for shipping. It is quite heavy, but had only wadded up paper to cushion it.
It bounced around in transit and the plastic plug protecting the output port of the master cylinder was damaged,

by:

working very well, I really like how it just drops on and hooks up

by:

Works cool

by:

nice heavy duty well built actuator, a little modification from my prior actuator but, doable.
Thanks

  • Installation and Mounting for the Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator
I looked on Demco's website and was able to pull some information and diagrams on how you would mount the Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator item # DM8609101. I have attached them below. I was not able to find any pictures of this Actuator installed. The installation is pretty straight forward though. It mounts to the top of a 3" wide trailer tongue with three 1/2" x 4-1/2" grade-5 bolts. These bolts are not included. This kit does not include a lock out kit so you will need the Manual Reverse...

  • Option For Replacing Swing-Away Actuator On A 2005 Mastercraft Boat Trailer
We do have a potential solution for you. Unfortunately, the swing away actuators like the one on your 2005 Mastercraft trailer have been discontinued, so I am afraid there is no direct replacement, or anything that will fit inside the current swing away. At this point we would have to recommend replacing the tongue of the trailer entirely, all the way down to the swing away. For a replacement option I recommend the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout # DX89FR. This has...

So the Atwood 83000, 83005, 83010 brake actuators are obsolete, and Atwood is no longer in business so there isn't a replacement master cylinder. You'll need to replace the whole actuator, and for one like the Atwood with the same 8,000 lb capacity that connects to a 2 inch hitch ball and mounts to a 3 inch trailer tongue, use the following from Demco: - Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator # DM8609101 I do recommend sticking with drum brakes as there isn't a set of disc brakes for your spindle,...

  • Difference Between Titan T63FR and T4500600 Hydraulic Trailer Brake Actuating Coupler
There is no difference between the Titan # T63FR and T4500600. The T4500600 is Titan's part number, and # T63FR is the part number we use. Same product, different part number.

  • Replacement Demco DA91 Surge Brake Actuator For a Atwood 83000 Drum Brake Actuator
The drop on the Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator # DM8669112 is only moving he coupler lower so you will not need as large of a rise on the tow vehicle. We do have the Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator # DM8609101 without a drop that has all the same features. They both are rated for a tongue weight up to 800lbs, trailer weight up to 8,000lbs, have a 2" coupler, zinc coated, rated for drum brakes and have the same bolt pattern.

  • Does Demco EZ Latch Surge Coupler Have Locking Mechanism
Hey Eric, the Demco surge actuator part # DM8609101 that you referenced is a really nice coupler setup that once dropped onto a ball locks to it until you pull the lever up on it to release it. But we also have a lock that would prevent it from getting released by a thief if that is what you meant with the InfiniteRule part # IR66FR. When the pin is inserted the latch can not be lifted up.

  • Can You Convert Tie Down Engineering LP8500 from Disc to Drum
I do have an option for you but in order to switch an actuator from disc to drum brakes you'd need a new master cylinder. Unfortunately, we don't have any replacement parts for the Tie Down Engineering LP8500 as it's discontinued. Therefore, your only option is a full replacement for which I recommend the Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator part # DM8609101.

The Reverse Lockout Solenoid for Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuators # DM11993 is the correct solenoid for your Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator # DM8609101. The solenoid will fit Demco models DA10, DA20, and DA91. This solenoid has a non-bypass configuration which allows you to install the solenoid without drilling into your master cylinder. • Replacement Brakes for Sailboat Trailer With 3500 lb Single Axle
A 3500 lb axle would typically use a L68149 inner and L44649 outer wheel bearing and the hub would have a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern so you'll want to confirm that by pulling a hub and getting the reference numbers off the cages of your existing bearings. If this is what you have, then you do indeed have a 3500 lb axle and the parts I recommend below will be based on that assumption. If the above is true, you'll have 10 inch brake assemblies, and I'd recommend # 40716-15 galvanized brake...

  • Will 6,000 lb Surge Brake Actuator for Drum Brakes Work on Single Axle Boat Trailer
The Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator # DM8609101 will work great for you; the 8,000 lb tow rating and 800 lb tongue weight rating are just the maximum capacities for the actuator and you won't have an issue with your single-axle boat trailer being under that weight rating. The Demco # DM8609101 actuator is designed for use with trailers that have drum brakes and it will fit a 2 inch hitch ball, which you'll want to also keep in mind.

Hey Jac, I don't have a way to look up what your trailer has but we can still help. if you can get the axle capacity that would be basically all I need to know. You can do this by looking at the sticker/plate that is on the axle or you can pull a hub and get me the bearing numbers from inside the hub or the diameter of the spindle where the bearings ride. • My Brakes Are Activating When I Reverse Uphill What Can I Do?
This likely means your hydraulic brake actuator does not have a reverse lockout. Reversing the trailer up an incline compresses the actuator and activates the brakes. Adding a lockout allows you to backup without actuating the brakes. We have the reverse lockout solenoid # DM11993 that can be added to your actuator. This will be wired to your reverse light circuit and will lock out the actuator when you are in reverse. We also offer actuators like the # T63FR which can be locked out manually.

  • What Hydraulic Brake Actuator do You Recommend for My Military Trailer Model M1102?
For the available specs I have available for your M1102 military trailer, the trailer itself has drum brakes with a maximum GVWR of 4200 pounds. With that information and the additional factor of a 3-inch wide tongue, I recommend the Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator - Drum - Zinc - 2" Ball - 8,000 lbs # DM8609101.
