When you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, deceleration occurs and momentum pushes your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. With surge brake systems, the actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward while the tow vehicle slows. The actuator telescopes, applying force to its master cylinder, which in turn supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage the trailer's brakes.

Updating my old surge brake coupler, I really like this Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout - Bolt On - Disc - 2" Ball - Zinc - 7.5K fits 3”x4”trailer tongue, it was easy to install, I did have to drill new holes, I just wish the manufacturer would have included the bolts and the information on how much to torque the bolts to, it’s about “2 drop from my old coupler. etrailer was super fast with shipping !

Have not use the Actuator yet. However it came in a oversize box. No packing material to protect it. It was damaged when I opened the box. Scratches and damage cable

I slipped this into my boat mate trailer for 2001 moomba. Took about an hour to hook up and bleed the system with a buddy. Works great! If you can use simple tools and are mechanically savvy this is a no brainer.

Great replacement for a damaged actuator. A plan came together and it don't get much better.

by:

The part was exactly what I needed. I gave 1 less star because the original item I requested was out of stock. Luckily I noticed that on the order status page and switched it to another item. This caused a significant delay in me receiving the part.

by:

The product you sent me had the correct internal parts that I needed although the mount was not correct I used my mount that came with the trailer.

I received my order two days ago, Quick shipping but it was the wrong part. I called and spoke with Noah who sent me an email asking me to take a picture of the part and add my phone number. I did right a way and still have not heard back. I emailed Noah today asking about the status no reply, now Im on a 9min hold to try and talk with someone about my replacement past. The wrong part looks like a good part if it fit my trailer.

  • Disc Surge Brake Actuator Replacement for a Titan Aero 7500
I recommend using the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout # DX29FR to replace the Titan Aero 7500 you currently have. The top holes are 3" apart on center which should match with what you currently have, but you'll need to drill new holes for the bottom bolts. It doesn't look like there are any actuators with the exact bolt pattern you have which is why I recommend this actuator. Attached is an installation video for you to check out.

  • What Kind Of Plug Do I Need In Order To Use The DX29FR Surge Brake Actuator
The Dexter Surge Brake Actuator # DX29FR features an electric lockout. The surge brake actuator itself does not need to be plugged in to anything for it to work. The electric lockout does need to be wired if you want to be able to back up without locking up the brakes. The blue wire goes to your vehicles reverse light circuit, the white wire is a ground. This allows you to back the trailer up without actuating the brakes. Generally trailers with a surge brake actuator and electric lockout...

  • Troubleshooting Reverse Lockout Solenoid Not Working on Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator
There are only 3 real possibilities for your lockout failing to work properly on the # DX29FR. The first would be the power. Since it sounds like you are getting 12V power to the solenoid it doesn't sound like this is the issue. The second would be the ground. Make sure your ground connection is secure on a clean, bare-metal surface. Also, the wires are interchangeable so it doesn't matter which is the power and which is the ground. If these both check out it is likely a bad solenoid valve....

  • What is Difference Between Dexter Couplers # DX29FR and # DX56FR
The difference is the trailer tongue size the coupler was designed to fit.
