    • Easy-to-use lever activates lockout
    • Free-backing brakes not required - works with uni-servo and duo-servo brakes
  • Breakaway kit included
  • Bolt-on installation

Specs:

  • Application: hydraulic drum brakes

When you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, deceleration occurs and momentum pushes your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. With surge brake systems, the actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward while the tow vehicle slows. The actuator telescopes, applying force to its master cylinder, which in turn supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage the trailer's brakes.

The reverse lockout can be engaged with a simple lever on the coupler. Once the lockout has been activated, you can back up your trailer without triggering the trailer brakes. Always remember to disengage the lockout mechanism when preparing to move forward.

Awesome coupler.
My trailer is a 1990
and the old coupler was welded on. Had no other option than to weld the new coupler on.
Came out great and works perfectly.
Made my own brake lockout key. See photos below

Better than i could imagine. I have hauled my boat all over the valley over the last year and the least of my worries is hooking up the trailer and unhooking after a fishing trip. This coupler is flawless. The use of a surge brake lockout key is a good idea when backing up. All in all I would highly recommend this coupler.

I received the actuator with no manual. Contacted etrailer.com to get the manual and was told they didn't have but would contact UFP. Nothing from UFP. I contacted Dexter, who apparently bought the line from UFP. They don't have it either. I have it installed but am trying to figure out how to bleed the master cylinder. OLD instructions from UFP are NOT accurate.

worked well as a replacement on my sailboat trailer.

by:

  • Where Does The Manual Lockout Key Attach On The Titan Brake Actuator # T4500600?
The manual Lockout Key # DX94FR works by sliding into the side slide channel on the Brake Actuator # T4500600. The key will prevent the actuator from sliding which will prevent the brakes from being applied when you need to back up with your trailer.

  • Parts Needed to Add Electric Lockout to Dexter Brake Actuator
Dexter does not have an option for an electric lockout on their drum brake actuators, but that doesn't mean you can't add one. It is as simple as adding the Replacement Solenoid Valve for Dexter Brake Actuators # T4748800 to the # T4500600. Once this is installed, your 5-way will allow you to back up without any issues.

Thanks for the picture. Basically the two actuators are the same but the left is the current design for the # T4500600 so it would be the correct replacement.

  • Titan T4500600 Brake Actuator Dimensions
I would be happy to help you. The Brake Actuator with Manual Lockout - Bolt On - Drum - 2" Ball - 7,500 lbs item # T4500600 you referenced is recommend to be mounted on a 3" wide tongue. It is an industry standard actuator and has an inside width dimension of 3-1/8" to fit on the tongue. The outside dimension of the actuator is 3-1/2". It will fit on 3” x 3”, 3” x 4”, or 3” x 5" tongues. As far as the mounting holes go, the horizontal mount holes are 3" apart on center and then those are...

  • Solution For Pushing Trailer Without Brake Actuator Lockout With Front Hitch Uphill
You are correct, pushing the trailer with the # DM72VR uphill will cause the brakes to activate so this will be a problem. Typically you could add an electric lockout using the # DM5836, but since you are pushing it forward you would need some custom wiring to get power since you are driving forward and a 5-way only works in reverse. Assuming you don't want to install custom wiring I have two possible solutions. The first is to get a different coupler. You could use the Brake Actuator...
