When you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, deceleration occurs and momentum pushes your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. With surge brake systems, the actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward while the tow vehicle slows. The actuator telescopes, applying force to its master cylinder, which in turn supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage the trailer's brakes.

Great service by a salesperson (Jonathon) who knows what he is doing. He found that they had the two main parts that I needed and shipped those right out and then followed up and shipped a cover that could be added later.

  • Putting Titan Model 10 Trailer Brake Actuator Back Together
You will pretty much have to remove as much as you can from the interior of the Titan model 10 actuator # T4750800 to be able to get to the parts you need easily. You will have to remove the master cylinder and components forward of it but be careful not to pull the break away cable out too far because then it has to be reset and that is a whole other issue. I have included a link to the installation details that does explain the process of putting the actuator back together. It is in...

  • How To Bleed Kodiak Disc Brakes On Trailer Using the Breakaway Switch
You can use the breakaway to bleed the brakes on your trailer. If the battery is fully charged, you just need to pull the pin and it will engage the brakes on your trailer. You want to make sure you have someone checking to make sure the reservoir remains full of brake fluid while bleeding the system. After bleeding the brakes you may want to hook your trailer up to the towing vehicle to charge the breakaway battery back to a full charge.

  • Master Cylinder Filer Cap Opening Diameter and Threads Per Inch for Titan Model 10 Actuator
I went out to the warehouse and pulled the same master cylinder used in the Titan model 10 actuator, # T4750800 to measure the opening where the filler cap screws in. Using digital calipers I measured the opening to be 1.56 inches (1-9/16 inches). And as best as I could tell it has 20 threads per inch. It is entirely possible that it is considered a 1-1/2"-20 opening. If you can tell me what the bleeder system requires I can determine if the model 10 is compatible.

  • Master Cylinder Cap Recommendation for Titan Model 10 # T4750800
Yes, the cap # T4830601 you referenced does fit the actuator part # T4750800 that you referenced as this cap fits Model 10 actuators like what the # T4750800 is.

  • Best Replacement for Tie Down Surge Brake Coupler Model 125 Disc
The best replacement option we offer for a Tie Down Surge Brake Coupler Model 125 for Disc Brakes is the Titan Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator part # T4750800. The Titan coupler is rated for 12,500 lbs just like the Tie Down and it uses a 2-5/16" hitch ball. It is also rated for use on disc brakes. If you have a model with lock solenoid or wish to add this feature then you would simply use part # T4750820. There should also be a set of holes on the new coupler which matches what you have on...

  • Availability of Disc Brake Actuator/Coupler Without Electric Reverse Lockout Feature
An electric reverse lockout solenoid like Titan # T4748800 is included in their disc brake actuator/coupler # T4750820 which you referenced. Electric lockouts can be retro-fitted to a compatible coupler; they can also be removed if you wanted to eliminate the reverse lockout feature. Titan actuator/coupler # T4750820 that you referenced fits a 3-inch-wide trailer tongue, includes a breakaway kit and bolts on to your trailer tongue. If you prefer a disc brake actuator/coupler without...

  • How Does Titan Disc Brake Surge Actuator # T4750800 Allow Backing Up a Trailer
The Titan Model 10 Disc Brake Surge Actuator # T4750800 that you referenced does not have a reverse lockout. It is possible to back up a trailer with this coupler by reversing very slowly, slowly enough to avoid compressing the coupler and engaging the hydraulic actuator. My contact at Titan confirms that it is possible to add a reverse lockout solenoid valve, part # T4748800, to this actuator. We recommend using a solenoid shield, part # T4836100183, to provide protection to the valve...

  • Can a Lunette Ring Coupler be Installed on a Boat Trailer for a Pintle Hook Style Trailer Hitch
Pintle hitches and lunette rings are usually found in agricultural applications and I cannot say that I have ever seen one used with a boat trailer. That is not to say that it could not work, it is just uncommon. A more traditional ball style coupler would be more ideal for road travel and it seems like it would also be easier to couple, uncouple. There would be a tighter fit with a ball hitch and a pintle set up might allow for more horizontal and vertical shock. We have a lot of brake...

  • Parts Needed To Add Surge-Type Actuator And Brake Lines To Tandem trailer With Disc Brakes
You are correct that there is only one fluid outlet on the coupler, part # T4750800 you referenced. This is the master cylinder on the coupler that sends fluid through the brake lines to the brakes. I have attached a photo of the coupler that shows the attach point for the brake line, and also a drawing that shows how the lines on a typical tandem axle trailer are run. For a tandem axle with 4 disc brakes I recommend the Demco Hydraulic Brake Line Kit, part # DM5425. This kit includes...

  • What Size Brake Line Should be Used with the Titan Actuator part # T4750800
The Titan actuator part # T4750800 that you referenced is designed to work with the standard trailer brake line size of 3/16 inch like what comes with the part # DM5425.

  • Would Using Drum Actuator with Disc Brakes Cause Brakes to Lock Up
If you are using a drum brake actuator on a trailer with disc brakes what you'll normally experience is weak brake action. If your brakes are locking up and making the hubs hot it should not be because of that. Most likely they ended up damaging the two moving pieces and the actuator is stuck applying pressure on the brake assemblies. Since you are using the wrong actuator it would be a great idea to replace it anyway with the disc brake version # T4750800.

  • Parts to Replace Hydraulic Brake System on a 2004 Magic Tilt Trailer
We can definitely get you started with parts for your Magic Tilt Trailer, but we will need some additional information to complete your parts list. We can start with a coupler. Since your boat trailer will not exceed 10,260 lbs, I recommend looking at a coupler like the Titan Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator for Disc Brakes, # T4750620. This coupler has a 3 inch drop like the coupler you referenced, but it has a 12,500 lb weight capacity which is closer to the weight of your trailer. Using...

  • Parts Needed To Replace Hydraulic Braking System On Boat Trailer
Hydraulic systems are preferred on boat trailers because water and electricity do not mix well. The hydraulic surge brake system is self contained on the trailer and the only connection to the vehicle is the reverse lockout switch that is powered through the trailer connector. This switch keeps the surge coupler from locking the brakes on the trailer when you are backing up. I know that you told me that your boat weighs 6k, however I need your help to identify the axle so we can select...

  • Parts Needed To Change 11,000 Pound Trailer From Electric Drum Brakes To Disc Brakes
You can certainly switch from electric drum brakes to disc brakes on your trailer. You will want to confirm the weight capacity of your axles. It is likely that they are 6,000 pound axles, but you will want to double check. In addition to disc brake kits with hubs and rotors, you will also need an actuator and to run brake lines on your trailer. You will want to choose a disc brake kit based on the existing inner and outer bearings, grease seal, and wheel bolt pattern from your existing...
