Video Transcript for Rampage Jeep Front Double Tube Bumper Installation - 2009 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited

Shane: Hi. I'm Shane with etrailer.com. Today you're going to be taking a look at and I'm going to walk you through the installation on the Rampage Double Tube Bumper for your 2009 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. This bumper is not only going to add style to the front of your Jeep, but it's also going to add protection. When you're off-roading, maybe encountering some of those small trees, this is going to add great protection for your grill and for the front side of the vehicle.Let's talk about a few of the features of this bumper. There are going to be tubes of steel.

We're going to have a double tube across the front. You'll notice here it sticks out fairly far out the side of the vehicle, so it gives our tire a little bit of protection there. We're going to have a single tube up here at the top, which is going to add great protection for our grill when we encounter some of those smaller trees. We come down here in the center. We're going to have a plate that's welded on. This is going to be for lights you may want to add.

Maybe you want to add some fog lights. They're going to be four-inch in diameter. Now, the lights are sold separately, but they can be found here at etrailer.com.As I mentioned before, this bumper is going to be a steel tube construction. It's going to have a textured matte black powder coat finish. So it's not only going to add that rugged look to it, but it's also going to add great protection.

When you're off-roading, maybe you encounter some debris like your trees. It's really going to hold up well against your scrapes, your scratches, your chipping, and your rust and corrosion. Now, because these are a tube design and not a solid steel, we're going to have end caps. The end caps are going to help protect the inside of our tubes from rusting from the inside out.So on our installation, we're going to have a plastic pan on the lower part of our bumper here we need to remove. Phillips-head screwdriver, we're going to have some fasteners that we need to remove to get our fan off.

These fasteners, with a screwdriver we don't have to push to get the center out. All that we need to do is make sure that we're gripping that center, and we're just going to turn, and it'll pull out the center part.Once we get the center out, we want to make sure we pull the base out also just like that. We're going to have two on the underside of the panel. If you have a plastic trim panel, so maybe a screwdriver, it helps get that base out of there, too. Okay. Then we're going to have one more on the other side. With an 18-millimeter socket, we need to remove the four nuts on each side of our bumper. You're going to have two on each side of our frame rail, two on the inside of our frame rail, two on the outside. What I suggest doing is if you're using a power tool, maybe loosen them with a wrench first, a socket wrench, and I would also, if you have not ever taken the bumper off, spray them with some kind of lubricant to loosen up, get some of that rust off of them. Now, we're going to slide our bumper off. If you have any wire loom or anything like that, maybe go on the fog lights, make sure you unhook that or at least pull it off. Then we'll set this aside. You're going to have two brackets in your K lock disc. You're going to have horizontal holes and vertical holes. You want to make sure that you install your bracket like this. You want your horizontal holes onto your frame and vertical holes on the sides. This allows you to move this bracket in and out. Take your bolt, large flat washer. Put it in the hole, and you're going to put another large flat washer on the inside and a lock nut. We're just going to finger tighten them for now until we get our bumper in place, and we're going to repeat that same process on the other side. Now, with an extra set of hands, we'll lift our bumper up into place. We'll line it up with our holes. We're going to use the same combination of hardware that we did on the front, bolt, flat washer, flat washer on the inside, and then a lock nut. Next we need to tighten our hardware. We're not going to be able to use sockets because this space is too small, and the bolts and nuts are too close together on the inside here. So what I'm going to do is use a three-quarter-inch wrench. If you don't have two of them, use a three-quarter-inch and a 19-millimeter.What we need to do is we need to be able to move this to get our top and bottom bolts tight. Once you have those tight, we'll take our two wrenches like this. I'm going to raise this up or position it where you want it, and then we'll just tighten it in place. If you're wanting to use a socket on this here, you could. You've got enough room there. Then I'm going to do the same thing over here.Once you have all your bolts tightened down, you're ready to go. Again, I'm Shane with etrailer.com. I hope this video has helped you, whether you're still deciding or installing the Rampage Double Tube Bumper on your 2009 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.
