Video Transcript for Trimax Retractable Cable with Resettable Combination Lock Review

The Trimax Retractable Cable Combo Lock is gonna be great for if you are skiing, and you want your snowboard to be there whenever you get back from your little break. What makes this one really nice, is the fact that we have four digits to scramble. So, it's gonna be very, very difficult for somebody to take it. So, pretty much how this works, is right now, I have it at 000. You can press this little side piece here. And the cool thing about this, is when after we run this through our equipment, it's very, very small and compact.

All we have to do is press this bigger button on one side, and that's gonna release it. And then, there's a bigger button on the other side, which is going to completely suck up that cable. I like that because this is very, very small. A lot smaller than my phone, and it can fit into my pocket really easily. So, you don't have to have a bag or anything like that to carry this.

And it's very, very easy to reset. So, I'll show you how to set your personal combo. First, what we wanna do, is we wanna press this button down and pull out our cable. It's three foot in length, so it's pretty long. I like to put it through my bindings, just because it's probably the most secure place on our board.

You can do that however you see fit. And we're gonna bring it up to wherever we're tying it down to, which right now, it's just this little post here. Obviously, we're not on the slopes, but it's July, so that's that. But you go around one, one way, one the other. And then, what I like to do, is now that I have a little bit of slack here, you can press this button to suck it up a little bit.

And then you can connect it, just like that. So, if I did want to reset this, so it's not just 0000, there's a smaller button on this side, next to the big button. We're gonna hold this down. And we're gonna, let's say, 4848, just like that. So, now, that is our combination. So, when I click this, it comes undone. You snap it back in. And when we scramble it, we're not gonna be able to release it at all. So, it is pretty easy. And then whenever you come back out, put it to your personal combo, I just like two 48s, 'cause it's simple for me to remember. Go like this, press the button, and you're good to go. The whole goal here, yeah, we could probably take some kitchen scissors and cut this. But if you have a lock on your board and someone else doesn't, odds are that the thief is gonna grab that board instead of yours. This is just gonna be a theft deterrent. If you like to travel, let's just say you're working remote in a coffee shop of some sort, and you have to go to the bathroom. You wanna maybe tie this to the chair you're sitting on. You just take your bags, loop it through however you see fit, and connect it that way. It's also gonna be great for airport travel. That is something I always get a little nervous about. I hate bringing my bags into the bathroom 'cause I think that's kinda gross. But sometimes that's what I have to do. With this, you really don't have to worry about it. And if you do have a Pelican case like I have, right here, notice you have these little holes for your locks. So, what I like to do, is I like to fish this through. It's perfectly through that little hole. I like to suck it up as much as possible and connect it like that. 'Cause this way, there's not enough room for them to get all of my stuff out. I might be able to get it from this side, but maybe a couple of them will suffice. The whole goal with this, is just to show you that there is a lot of versatility on what you can really lock up. If you do plan on putting this through a zipper or something on your Pelican case, the diameter of this pin is about 1/4 inch. And once we have it all hooked up or not, the whole housing itself, is about, let's say four inches tall and about 2.5 inches wide. So, let me just show you how very quick compact this is. You pull it through. Once you do that, you suck it all up. I actually have a perfect spot for this. In any bag, you'll be able to find it smaller than your phone. Just like my drone bag right here, I can just put it like this, and we're done. So, very easy to store. Honestly, if I was at the slopes, this thing's so small and compact, I would just keep it in my pocket. So, whenever I'm going down, once I get to the stop spot, go ahead, pull this outta your pocket wrap up your board and you're good to go. There's a lot of things I like about this. I think the main thing is, is how small it is. Put it in your pocket, you're done, and you don't really have to find a place to put it, kinda like the cable locks. Also, the retracting of it's really nice. It's nice and strong. But I think the bread and butter with this, is it has four numbers instead of three, so it's gonna make it a lot harder to get into. And that is pretty much it for a look at the Trimax Retractable Combination Lock..

The lock is easy to reset, and will keep the casual thief out of my jerry can rack.

This cable lock has been up and down the back woods of Colorado, New Mexico, and Texas with nary a hitch. A little water, followed by a squirt of WD-40 keeps it doing its job of locking up my jerry cans of fuel.

  • Solution for Locking Gen-Y Hitch Gooseneck Trailer Hitch To Prevent Theft
The design of the Hitch Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # GY73XR doesn't really allow for much in the way of security. The only thing you can really do is replace the safety pin that secures the T-handle with a lock. This would prevent anyone from lifting the handle which is required to remove the adapter. I wasn't able to get the diameter of the hole but you might be able to get a coupler lock with a 1/4" diameter through there like the Master Lock # 2847DAT. The only other option would be to...
