Video Transcript for etrailer Tie Down Straps Review

These etrailer cam buckle straps are going to be a perfect addition to your truck, trailer or cargo carrier. You can get them in a quantity of 1, 2 or 4, to customize the needs for your haul. The 13 foot strap is going to be great for even your bulky items, such as our generator here. We we're able to go all the way across our cargo carrier and back, ensuring it's nice and secure. The safe working load limit is 293 pounds, while the maximum load or break strength is 880 pounds and that's per strap. For a look at them in action, we took it out on our test course. On our test course, we'll take it over some bumps, so you can see how it'll handle on rough and uneven surfaces and then into our slalom, so you can see how it handles under evasive maneuvers.A couple of cool things you're going to like, is our personal etrailer touches with our neoprene cover to help prevent any scratches or abrasions from the cam buckle, as well as the integrated elastic strap to tie up that excess.

The straps themselves are made of a durable polyester webbing that's going to be abrasion resistant. Our customers compare these to ProGrips cam buckle straps and while the ProGrips are very similar, they're a little bit wider, but they have less of a capacity at only 200 pounds. Additionally, you don't get the small features, like the neoprene cover for the buckle or the elastic band to hold up your excess. They're super easy to operate, simply wrap it around whatever you want to tie down, slide your strap through and then you just pull it tight. This will cinch whatever you're hauling down, so it ain't going anywhere. If you have more excess than this, you can wrap it up and secure it in the elastic band.

Light and very flexible, strong enough for anything I've needed so far, tying down a canoe and small loads of lumber.

Ken

The straps have held up well and are more useful than I originally expected

by:

These work great for securing cargo on trailers and/or truck beds. Simple to use and holds tight. The perfect solution when a ratchet strap is complete overkill.

by:

This is a great strap, works as a ratchet strap should. Great attention to detail, the padding around the hardware and the orange strap to keep everything tidy when not in use.

by:

works as advertised

These seem to be lighter duty straps which will work just fine securing my two 75-lb kayaks. I haven't used them yet but have used other cinch buckle straps and these should work as well. I like the neoprene cover that goes over the buckle!

by:

Great value and perform well. These straps are the perfect size and the quality is outstanding.

by:

I have used the straps a few times now and they have worked as expected. The are cam buckle straps. Used them when helping my in-laws move and helped to tidy up some of the stuff on the trailer. We were moving tool boxes so I didn't use them as the main tie down, but they worked well to help keep everything contained and all the drawers closed. I typically use these to tie down my stand up paddleboards. They work very well for that, the protective cover on the buckle is a nice addition to keep it from damaging whatever you are strapping down. The keeper strap doesn't really help to tie up the excess strap while they are in use, there is not enough tension in them. But the elastic keeper strap is great for storage. My favorite thing about these over the old set I was replacing is that they wrap up and the keeper strap keeps them contained. They can go in the bin in the back of my 4runner and are ready when I need them. They don't become a tangled mess that annoys me.

by:

These straps work great for strapping a ladder down on my roof rack. They have just the right amount of stretch to be able to get them tight. They’re a light weight strap but they’re sure handy!

by:

Fast delivery and a good price. Straps are of good quality.

by:

This is exactly what I needed to secure the wheel covers on my motorhome so they don't blow away on windy days. Easier to install then crawling on the ground.

by:

After a year, they tend to slip and loo sen.

by:

Came quick and the correct items, thanks for your efforts.

by:

Nice straps. great 4 pk for the price.

by:

I’ve been purchasing their products for years and always pleased with the quality and service.

by:

Just received and only used once, but quality appears to be great and the straps worked well for holding two kayaks in place on my ladder rack.
Used with the foam blocks I also purchased from etrailer. The combination of these two products are perfect for my needs. Originally looked for j-type kayak racks, but was concerned someone may "borrow" them while I am out for several hours kayaking. The straps and blocks can be easily secured inside the vehicle.

by:

Great strap! I use them to secure my paddle boards and habe no worries about them coming off.

by:

These cinch straps were supposed to be a replacement system for tying down our kayaks; they are not very reliable for tying down on our roof racks. The straps slip/loosen while we are driving, even when we tie off the ends. Maybe the material is too slippery. We did not have this trouble with our old straps.

  • Recommended Tie-Down Strap for Cargo Carrier and Lawnmower
The etrailer Cam Buckle Cinch Straps w/ Buckle Protectors - 1" x 13' - 293 lbs - Qty 4 # E98876-4 is my recommendation for your cargo trailer and lawnmower. The cam style straps will hold well and will help resist damage that could happen from overtightening a ratchet style strap. The buckle protectors will also help protect paint and plastics.

Stacking a cargo bag on top of coolers in a utility trailer or a hitch mounted cargo carrier would technically be possible but that's a very specific application that we don't necessarily have a solution totally worked out for. We do have cam buckle style tie downs like the etrailer.com Cam Buckle Cinch Straps w/ Buckle Protectors # E98876-4 to secure the coolers and cargo bag.

  • Kayak Carrier Recommendation for a 2014 Kia Optima with a Naked Roof
The Malone Foam Block Kayak Carrier part # MPG152 will fit on to naked roofs like what you have on your 2014 Kia Optima so it would work well to carry your 10 foot kayak. This is a great, economic way to carry a kayak without having to also install an expensive roof rack. For straps you will need the # E98876-2 as well. Be sure to check the owners manual of your Optima to determine the roof capacity.

  • Support Straps for Hitch Bike Rack Used in Hitch Adapter
You are correct that using a hitch adapter such as the Malone # MPG544 will cut your hitch's capacity in half, down to 200-lbs tongue weight. Your bike and carrier combined weight of approximately 198-lbs is within this reduced limit but I do recommend you add support straps to both help support and steady the loaded rack while you're traveling. The Montero's roof gives you good tie down points for a couple of straps like # 18050 or # E98876. I recommend using two so that both ends of...

This will fit well in the Draw Tite hitch # 76238 that you have installed on your 2020 Acura RDX as well. For a set of cam buckle straps to then secure the box to the carrier the # E98876-4 would be a really great solution as well. I attached a review video for these for you to check out as well.

  • Hitch Cargo Bag Recommendation to Obscure Harvested Game During Travel
All of the bags we carry are solid all the way around since most people adding a bag to the mix do it so they can try to protect their cargo from the elements. With that being said, what you might try doing is using one of our bags, part # e98990 or part # 988501, but simply turn it upside down. Yes they are! Etrailer J-Style Kayak Carrier #e98878 fits bars within 7/8" to 1-1/2" thickness. I'm a big fan of how they're designed to fit most factory crossbars. From what I know, the factory bars for the Ford Escapes since 2013 are the flat and thin style. Unless they have a different design for your bars, they are a confirmed fit for your 2016 Ford Escape.
