Hey everyone. Shane here with etrailer.com. Today we're going to be taking a look at the MORryde Scissor Jack Cross Brace Stabilizer. Most campers or travel trailers are gonna come standard with scissor jacks. Scissor jacks are designed not to lift the trailer up but to stabilize it. Problem we find with scissor jacks, are they don't stabilize completely.

So you're still gonna get a lot of movement inside the camper. Adding the MORryde cross brace stabilizer onto your existing scissor jacks, is gonna take a lot of the extra movement out of those jacks that you otherwise would have, if you didn't have the cross braces on there. Now there are different types of stabilization systems out there for your camper. This setup, in my opinion, is gonna be more of an economical solution. Now with the the other types of systems out there, we would have to remove our factory scissor jacks, in order to get them installed.

With this setup, we can maintain the use of our factory scissor jacks and our cross braces are gonna mount directly to 'em. Now, if we didn't have our crossbars on there, each jack is going to support that side of the camper or that portion of the camper. Adding these on they're gonna go from the top side of one jack to the bottom side of the other on the front and back side. This allows us or gives us more of a single stabilization unit while still allowing each Jack to be adjusted independently for different terrain levels. Each bar when fully retracted is gonna be 69 inches long.

When fully extended, it's gonna go up to 78 inches long. As I mentioned before, even though we have these on, we're still gonna be able to use our Jack independently for unlevel terrain. So if we have one a little bit higher or a little bit lower than the other, we're gonna have plenty of adjustability in our bars to allow for those changes. This setup is gonna come with a handle and how they adjust is on the top side of each bar. You're gonna have a pin that sticks out like this.

On the end of your rod, it's gonna have two cutouts. You simply place it on and you twist. It allows you to change the tension on the bar. One thing to keep in mind when you're adding tension to it, you wanna make sure that you're not overdoing it because what we're doing, is we want the tension or we want our feet to sit flat on the ground. If you put too much tension what happens is the outside of the foot will start to lift up and you don't want that. One thing to keep in mind, if you're interested in this type of setup, you need to make sure that your scissor jacks are running diagonally across the camper. Some setups may have scissor jacks that are turned at an angle. If your jacks are turned in that angle, this setup will not work for you. Our bars are gonna to be a nice metal construction with a black powder coat finish that are really going to help resist rust and corrosion. As far as the installation process, they're going to come with all the hardware necessary to get them installed. A couple things to keep in mind, if the existing hardware that you're gonna be replacing your deck is smaller than the hardware that comes in the kit, those holes will have to be drilled out. The other thing to keep in mind. Is some jacks are a little bit wider. So the hardware that comes in the kit may or may not be long enough that at which time you can just replace them with longer bolts. Now these are only gonna come in a set of two or set for two jacks. So if you want any second set for your other jacks you can find those here at the etrailer. Now that we've gone over some of the features, let's walk with you how to get them installed. To start your installation. One kit is gonna come with two short bars. They are gonna be the outer and two long bars which are going to be the inner tubes. We're gonna take the longer one. At the end, there's gonna be a hole. We need to make sure that that's facing down. On our short outer tube, on the end, it's gonna have a hole. We need to make sure that's facing up. We're gonna slide the longer one inside the shorter one. We're gonna spin this end clockwise and make sure that it's pushing the longer tube out. Once we know it's pushing it out, we're gonna spin it counter-clockwise to the shortest position. Next thing we wanna do is you're gonna extend your jacks down toward the foot is just touching a solid surface. We don't want to make sure that we're not supporting any weight or else we're not going to be able to remove any hardware. Then what we're gonna do is you're gonna measure from the center of the jack up by the frame rail from one side to the center of the jack by the frame rail on the other side. If it's under 72 inches, we can move on to installing our cross braces. If it's over 72 inches or 72 inches or over, on your crossbar or your support braces, these longer inner tube on the end there's gonna be a nut and a bolt. You're gonna remove that. You're gonna extend this out and then re-install that nut and bolt. It's not really, it doesn't really matter what side you start on. I'm gonna start on the passenger side. This is gonna be the front of the drag, rather the side that faces the front of the camper. We're gonna take our stabilizer bars. The larger and the short tube. This end is gonna mount. There's two bolts at the very top. It's gonna mount to the inside. So what we're gonna do is we're gonna remove that inside nut and bolt. We're gonna use a 12 millimeter wrench on the head side and half inch socket on the nut side. Remove that bolt. Your kit's gonna come with new hardware. And in your kit you're gonna get two different sized bolts, longer and a shorter. Our longer one is gonna go in the top. You may find that this bolt that comes in your kit is a little bit bigger than the one you pulled out. You can always drill out the hole, open the hole in this plate here, big enough to get that bolt through. We're gonna be installing the head side on the backside of our Jack or left side across brace the hole there. That is gonna go on the end. I'm gonna slide spacer block on first and gonna make sure this is facing up. We'll slide that on. And then we'll install the nut. Next we'll come back with a 9/16 socket and wrench. We're gonna tighten the hardware down. We wanna make sure that we're not over tightening it. And what I suggest doing, after you get one installed, go ahead and rotate your, the bolt or the drive nut for your Jack and make sure your arms are moving. If they're not and their binding up, that means you have the bolts too tight and you loosen them up a little bit. Next, we're gonna take out this inside lower bolt. We're gonna repeat the process we did on top for removing that bolt and getting our new one to fit with the exception that the bolt head is gonna be on the front side and not the backside of the jack. Once you have your bolts in place, put on our spacer. we're gonna take the opposite end of the second support brace. We're gonna slide it on. Once we get that installed, we'll install the nut and then we'll tighten it down. Now we're gonna come over to the other side of the camper. We're gonna repeat the same process on the Jack with the exception, the bar that's on that's mounted to the top, on the other jack, is gonna mount to the bottom on this side and then vice versa for the one on the backside. Once you get one installed, if you bought a second set you can repeat the process for the second two jacks.
