  • A Safe Ride is a Comfortable Ride

If you're looking for the best tie-downs for your camper, frame-mounted is the way to go. The frame is the most solid part of your entire vehicle, so it just makes sense to attach your camper to something that's not going to warp, bend, or twist. Even more importantly, the camper's center of gravity will sit lower and its weight will be spread across the entire bed. This avoids a top-heavy load perched on top of your bed rails that's liable to sway and get pushed around by crosswinds. The camper's not going to shift or slide around while you drive; it's going to stay put, and your truck is going to handle just like it does without a camper.

Quick Tip: If you have a plastic or spray-in bed liner, it's important that you use a rubber mat under the camper to eliminate any sliding or bouncing.

    Don't Ruin Your Truck's Looks

how will tork lift tie downs look on my truck

Frame-mounted tie-downs are also a great pick for preserving your truck's good looks. The brackets install on the frame, tucked nearly flush with the underside of the vehicle. Remove the arms from the brackets when you're not hauling your camper, and the brackets will be barely visible.

    Custom Fit, No-Drill Installation

Completely custom to your vehicle, the tie-downs attach to exisiting holes in your frame so that there's little to no drilling and no need for any modifications. Because they're custom, you'll want to use our in-house application guide to make sure you get the exact right model. The tie-downs you need might be different depending on what type of hitch or other accessories you have.

how to find the right tie down for my truck - custom camper tiedown

    Securing Your Camper

    TorkLift Tie Down Example

Once the tie-downs are installed, use a set of turnbuckles (sold separately) to secure the camper to the tie-downs. The shank on each arm has 2 pin holes so you can choose how far out they extend, that way the turnbuckles can reach the anchors on your camper without making contact with your truck. Tighten the turnbuckles to the correct level of tension (not too tight!).

where to put camper tie downs

Make sure the anchor points are offset from the tie-downs instead of lined up with them so that they will hold your camper from multiple angles. This is important for keeping your camper from shifting. Two holes in the attachment plate of the tie-downs let you find the best angle for you camper anchors.

Forklift tie downs are manufactured to exact fit to existing manufactured frame rail holes. They lined up perfectly and after 6000 miles with camper on board have stayed secure. The only downside, (this is relative to when and ware you use you camper) they will corrode when driving through snow covered roads that have been treated with sand and/or salt. I use an oil based product to protect them corroding.

This products is well made. The transaction was easy and the product arrived as expected. I've been using this product for a year and I have no complaints. It has held up well and does what it was designed to do.

After two winters on the road, this product shows no sign of wear. Im happy with my purchase.

    by:

Love the TorkLift Tie-Downs! They are rugged and make loading and unloading much easier than my old basic Tie-Downs.

    by:

Easy install, very effective way to keep the camper were it's supposed to be. Just bought a new truck and ordered another set for it. As long as I have a bed mounted camper I will be using this tie down system.

    by:

On my 2017 Ram 2500 HD, were easier to install than the front ones because you don't have to put that bolt inside the frame. There is a standoff for a wire on each side that had to be removed, and will need to be secured with a cable tie or something (see attached picture). I had to remove my Trekstep from the driver's side, but I knew I would have to do that, so no big deal. Again, these are very sturdy, thus very heavy, and lighter aluminum tie downs might be considered to reduce weight.

    by:

Easy to install and super secure! Made my Lance 1020 feel like its part of my truck. Highly recommended for the juggernaut class truck campers. I’ll never go back to the stake pocket style or bed mount tie downs again.

1 year later, Im still very pleased. Ive gotten many positive comments from people that didnt know they existed and, after talking to me, plan on upgrading themselves.

    by:

The TorkLift frame mounted tiedowns for my truck bed camper mounted perfectly on my 2016 RAM 3500. They are holding my camper on very securely and will be tucked away nicely when I remove the camper for Winter. I plan on making a footstep to slide into the receivers then, so I have much easier access to my high truck bed when I use it to haul firewood. The only suggestion I have is that we cleaned up the punched out pin hole edges with a file, inside the receivers. The sharp ridges would have scratched the hold down assemblies a bit when inserted into the receivers. Maybe an opportunity for a manufacturing process improvement there?

The only Truck Camper tie down devices that I will ever use.

    by:

Perfect fit, Talked to Will on the phone and h got me the right set-up for my 2015 Dodge Ram 3500. Thanks Will.

    by:

Great camper mount. Easy install, fit and finish is awesome

    by:

The rear mount arrived this morning, and I immediately went to installation,,,the only thing that could have made things easier would be, if I had a more powerful air wrench to take the bolts out,,,lol.

Looks great! The quality of your product is impressive! And, to think the dealer wanted to charge me $200 to put them on.

I see these as a permanent attachments to my truck,

    by:

Seem like a solid well built product. A bit of a pain to install and the instructions could have been more clear and the manual put together better but overall satisfied.

    by:

TorkLift frame mounted tie downs, Torklift Fast Gun tie downs - AWESOME! Arrived Thursday as promised, picked the new Cirrus camper this morning. Installed the frame mounted tie downs - front and back - 1hour 45 minutes. Thank you etrailer!

    by:

These camper tie downs have been fantastic! They were easy to install and have made securing my camper a breeze. I really like how easy it is to pull the tie down portion of the brackets out when you aren't carrying the camper. In my opinion this is the only way to secure a truck camper.

They were great. I ended up getting a different truck and bought another Torklift setup for the new truck. I couldn’t imagine using anything else for securing a truck camper.

    by: 04/13/2023

The only way to go. Buy once, cry once. There is simply no better or safer way to tie down your camper.

    by:

These are very well made. They installed easily and fit perfectly. My only concern is that the tie down/turnbuckle attachment hole is slotted and looks potentially weak as a result. I don't know that it's weak, it just looks like making it without the slot would be a lot stronger.

After a year, these have worked out very well. The slotted holes I was concerned about have not been a problem.

    by:

The 2008 Dodge 2500 longbed install is very easy for the rear mounts.
The front is harder because of the blind frame holes but e trailer thought of everything. Your setup works great. Thank you

    by:

I put these on my 2008 Dodge 3500 and took a 8000 mile road trip from Pennsylvania to the great Rocky Mountains. Checked my Palomino truck camper regularly and it never moved or needed adjusment.

All the merchandise I bought from etrailer.com works great.

    by:

Great tiedowns, easy to install. Both slide in section of the tiedowns had areas where either the shipping caused issues or they had been used, not sure. Some of the powder coat areas were scratched up to bare metal. Other than that, they are nice and out of the way when not being used.

I will have our customer service team reach out to you. I also recommend touching up the tie downs with a rust resistant paint prior to installation.

    by:

I am really happy with tork lift rear tie downs on my 2004 3509 Dodge Ram dually. They have worked out good for me. I did have to move my rear camper tie downs so the tie down rods would clear the fenders but overall I am very happy with the tie downs.

    by:

It fits just beautiful and works great for my pickup camper.

    by:

Easy instal works great with our Ram 3500. Paired with torklift fastguns makes attaching camper quick and easy, and secure.

    by:

I did have to work on a couple of holes with a file to enlarge them just a little so the factory bolts off the bumper bracket would fit through them, but aside from that this is a simple bolt on tie down which requires no drilling at all.

I called etrailer about these tie downs because our RAM is a 2018 model and there is currently no listing for TorkLift tie-downs for 2018 RAM trucks, either on eTrailer or on the TorkLift site.
eTrailer contacted TorklLift to ask if they are warranted to fit 2018 RAM trucks, but they were unable to confirm that.

Having just installed these on our 2018, I can now confirm it that they do indeed fit. There have been no dimensional changes to the 2018 models which affect the location these tie-downs are designed to fit, so they install just fine.

Straight bolt up application with no drilling required. You will need a decently long wrench, or a cheater bar of some kind, to undo the factory bolts on bumper brackets, 'cos those rascals are pretty big and pretty tight, but aside from that, it's a piece of cake.

This is the way to go for tying down a camper of any real size and weight. Those "button" anchor points that install in the bumper itself are no match for the strength and overall sturdiness of these TorkLifts. Heavy gauge steel throughout.

    by:

The tie downs were easy to install. I do recommend the use of an impact wrench as that made the installation process straight forward and something a novice can complete in a little over an hour for front and back tie down brackets.

    by:

Simple installation, approximately 1 hr. Good design and looks solid! Note: Needed to use an pneumatic impact wrench to take out the 6 factory installed bolts.

    Jeff F.

    5/16/2020

The tie down continues to work out great for our camper.
