Video Transcript for TorkLift Front Frame-Mounted Camper Tie-Downs Review

Speaker 1: Today, we're going to be taking a look at TorkLift's line of custom frame mounted camper tie downs for the front. You want to verify here at etrailer.com using our fit guide, which ones work best for your vehicle. There are sets also available that will fit your vehicle available for the rear. These custom mounted brackets are going to provide an easy attachment point to hook up your camper. What's additionally great about those is that they have the removable ends. So when you're not using it, they'll be hidden away, and your vehicle will look like factory. The custom mounted brackets we're engineered to provide you with the best location for your tie down point to even distribute the load.

So, once they're attached, and adjusted. This'll keep your camper from being too top heavy. This'll increase the overall ride quality while you're campers attached, and the safety. It's made of a durable steel with a black powder coat finish, which'll ensure that you have a strong attachment point, and it'll be highly resistant to corrosion. When you are ready to use them, you can just slide in the attachment point. There's two points here to attach your turn buckles, and here on the shaft there are two points that will give you an adjustment inward, and outward, to specifically fit your camper.

So, you can use this hole for a wider camper, or this hole for an aero camper. Once you've got your appropriate hole, slide the pin through, and bring the latch over, and lock it in place. Then you can attach your turn buckles. Now if you need some turn buckles you can pick them up here at etrailer.com. There are many a different styles. From chain types, to quick attach lever types.

Our style is going to a be a threaded rod type that will hook to your camper, and down to our attachment point. We'll adjust it snug by turning our turn buckle here. With our passenger side done, we'll repeat that same step on our driver's side.Compared to stake pocket, our bumper mounted camper tie downs, frame mounted tie downs will provide better handling. They also mount out of sight, giving your truck a cleaner look, because the custom fit brackets secure tight against your trucks frame there is no loss of ground clearance. That completes our look at TorkLift's line of custom frame mounted camper tie downs for the front..

High quality product. TorkLift customer support is excellent. They mistakenly sent me two left inserts for the tie-downs. A quick call to customer support and they sent the correct part right out. Photo shows camper and truck before installation of TorkLift tie_downs.

Not sure if the top bolt is permanent of if it's to line up mounting holes. My 95 f250 needs a 4in bolt.simple fix, otherwise not a hard assembly.

The black finish is of good quality. The fitment was okay and went together easy enough. Directions are adequate. The “recessed” position is 2” outboard of the body. I bought these hoping for a more tucked under fit when out of use. The upper bolt supplied for the front bracket to J-bolt is too short. Barely gets on 2 threads for the install, let alone washers. I’ll have to go buy1/2”x 4” bolts for the upper. For 680 bucks, I expect a more thoughtful direct fitment and all the hardware to be appropriate for the selected installation

Received my order a day earlier than I was expecting, everything looks good so far, haven't done the install as of yet but after watching the video from your website on how to install the tie downs it looks like a no brainer, thank you for the good service.

These are good hold downs. They were installed without a problem. Be sure to have a very sharp drill bit, as the truck frame is hard material. I am happy with the product.

Great customer service at TorkLift. They accidentally sent me two left sides for the rear tie-down insert. A quick call to them and they sent the correct part right out.

4 stars, just cause of the written instructions. Could be clearer. Product Review: F2016, 2012 Ford F250 extended cab 8' bed I really like the Torklift front tiedowns. I didn't feel I had the skill to fab the front tiedowns. The rear however, are rather simple. 2 1/2" 1/4" wall square pipe slips inside the factory hitch receiver. I used 27" lengths. The factory Ford hitch receiver curves towards the rear axle. Drilled and tapped thru receiver and pipe to hold it. Happy with the quick service from etrailer.com!

Jason was great to work with on getting the proper camper tie downs for my truck as it was a new truck and was a bit confused as to the proper application. I had them installed within an hour. Even an armature bolt twister could do this! I have used my camper a lot since putting these on my truck and will tell you these are THE MOST SECURE ANCHORS I have ever used on any of my trucks PERIOD! You will not make a bad decision going with this product. I recommend these tie downs over any product available! I Don't normally give recommendations or endorse products. These I am truly impressed with.

Review from a similar Frame-Mounted Front in Camper Tie-Downs

I have a 2022 Ford F-250 super can. The frame mount tie downs went on great. You have to loosen leaf spring bolts to install brackets, passenger side bolt is 1 3/16 and drivers side is 1 1/4 so plan ahead. Need 3/4 drive brake bar too. Everything else was easy install. Nice strong mounts. I like them.

Review from a similar Frame-Mounted Front in Camper Tie-Downs

This is not an installation for anyone lacking automotive experience. The instructions could be better in some areas. It helps to leave the bolts off the fish wire until it is in place, and back fishing helps since the hole in the top of the frame is larger than the bolt holes. After an afternoon of cussing and fussing, the finished installation is great, with excellent fit.

The Torklift tie downs work great. Dont forget to wash the mud off of them too at the car wash.

It fits but you have to force it into place on a 22 f350 CCLB. The top mount that ties into the bed mount sits too low on the driver and passenger side. Not quite a "exact fit" like advertised. Pictures of both the driver and passenger side added.

Review from a similar Frame-Mounted Front in Camper Tie-Downs

These do look to be of good quality and finish. That said, the packaging it was shipped had almost no paper to hold the items in place so the black finish had many large gouges in it. Then when installed the middle bolt snapped off inside the frame of my truck while torquing to 75lbs. I was using a torque wrench set at 75lbs. After finishing the installation I check fit and clearance. These were supposed to work with my truck configuration according to etrailer website, however they do clear the factory running boards.

Review from a similar Frame-Mounted Front in Camper Tie-Downs

I purchased the front and rear frame mounted tie-downs for my 2017 F-150. The whole installation took 3 or 4 hours. I don't work very fast. The tie downs solved several problems I had with anchoring my truck/camper. The tie-downs that came with the camper were just not adequate and forced the camper to sit higher in the bed of the truck. Not enough length for chains and shackles. These ties-downs sit low and if used with the TorkLift turnbuckles makes for a clean, solid and functional installation. My only issue is that one of the turnbuckles passes right in front of the gas filler cap. I purchased TorkLift FastGuns for the font so that it made for easy removal when I am filling up at the gas station. This isn't a TorkLift problem, it is just the way the everything ties down. I also like the way the tie-down extensions can be removed when not in use. I would not hesitate to purchase these products again if I was installing another truck/camper. Great product.

Review from a similar Frame-Mounted Front in Camper Tie-Downs

Product seems decent quality. When received, some of the powder coat was flaking off which doesn’t bother me because it’s under the truck and going to get dirty anyways. Also, the figment was not that great, when installing the front mounts on my 2020 ram, they do not fit that great and didn’t not sit flush on the frame. In order to get them to sit flush, I had to tighten the top two bolts a little, then tighten the bottoms two that attach to the sandwich plate on the frame side to suck the mount in towards the frame. Then I tightened down the top two bolts the rest of the way which pulled the tabs up and kind of bent it into place.

Comments
You mentioned that the installation was a not a smooth one and I wanted to see if you could send a picture of the tie downs installed. I would like to send this information to the manufacturer for review.

The rear mounts were easy to mount. The only problem the package was missing 4 flat washers. I also just received the Front mounts. They were a little harder to mount by myself. Some advice is to watch the install on [video]. I ended up using a floor Jack to hold the mounts.

Review from a similar Frame-Mounted Front in Camper Tie-Downs

etrailer was fast and helpful with this install. Torklift on the other hand was not. They were confused about the installation of these tie downs on my truck. The part number was correct according to the make, model, and year but the photos I showed them of my truck obviously didn’t match the instructions. They just kept saying, it should fit. I made it work. Also the torque spec in my truck was over twice what they said for my leaf spring bolt. xxx ft. lbs. is very different than xxx. I had to have a shop torque them down.

Review from a similar Frame-Mounted Front in Camper Tie-Downs

I bought this when my previous belly bar and rear tie-down bent badly when our truck slid off the road into a steep ditch and our camper nearly tipped sideways off our truck. This product is a bit better then my old set up, but I expected something much better for this very high price. It wasn't too tough to install, but that is despite the poorly written instructions. I am also disappointed that the tie-down point has a slot cut in it which seems would significantly weaken it. I am not optimistic that this will not bend or break if we have a similar significant side load such as when we slid into the ditch. I will probably weld the slot shut to strengthen this tie-down point.

Comments
They are starting to rust significantly. That is very disappoint considering the very high cost of these.

Review from a similar Frame-Mounted Front in Camper Tie-Downs

These are a no-drill installation on a 2020 Ram 3500, but NOT a simple task. A mounting plate must be sandwiched between the front leaf spring bolt and its mount, then torqued to a very high amount. During my attempt at installation, the spring mount expanded as I loosened the bolt (which required a high torque impact tool). I was afraid that the nut would come off the bolt before there was sufficient gap to insert the mounting plate. I did not have the access (or ability) to put things back together once that happened. In the end, I took the tie-down to a local truck shop who installed both sides in about an hour. In use, the tie-down is fairly discrete and works very well... just don't think that the installation will be as simple as the rear tie-downs.

Review from a similar Frame-Mounted Front in Camper Tie-Downs

etrailer's service is 5 Star, as usual. My issue is with Torklift's poor quality in packaging accuracy for attaching the product. The front frame mount's instructions are lacking. The rear receiver mount is missing a split washer. And, for the Derringer hold down, the 8 nuts for the threaded rods are the wrong thread size thus won't go on to the rods.

A bit challenging even for a person with a lot of experience with tools. They want you to fish the bolt and washer through the frame and the mount at the same time, not going to happen with only 2 hands so i went to ace hardware and got some neoprene washers to slide over the bolts to hold them in the frame holes, then gently slid the mount onto the bolts. The drivers side bolts cannot be fished through the tight turns inside the frame with the washer attached to the bolt so getting the washer on the bolt while inside the frame was difficult. I was also concerned that my side exit exhaust would be in the way but as shown in the picture it wasnt an issue.

The rear camper mounts took 10 minutes each to install. The front ones took 22 minutes each. The mounting brackets are well built and designed. It would have been nice if the install instructions we’re online so we could have read them before we received the mounts.

Steve Z at etrailer was sharp and very knowledgeable on the companies product. Steve was able to work with me on getting the proper camper tie downs for my 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 (Item #TLD2121). He told me when they would be arriving and they actually arrived earlier than expected. Great product, install was pretty easy, I had them installed within an hour. This is a very high quality product with heavy duty construction. They provide a secure attachment for tie downs to the truck camper. The instructions provided are adequate, but not great. I Don't normally give recommendations or endorse products, but these I am truly impressed with. Thank you so much Steve and etrailer.

Well I was not impressed with the paint work. Very poor paint work. Most people know that when you paint metal . You first must use primer on the metal before you apply final paint. Its not rocket science. Its obvious no primer was applied . The paint has pilled off in many areas exposing the bare metal, no primer and even a little rust. This demonstrates proof in lack of pride in workmanship within your company. It show the ( I don't care about quality attitude.) Now I will have to sandblast these parts myself , Prime with epoxy primer and paint again. I can only assume that now that you have my money . Who really cares. Would I recommend this product and your company online ??? You tell me
